Age: 26
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider // Searchrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Beastcrafter
Physical Description: K'din stands about 5'10" with shaggy, dark brown hair, light brown skin, and large, dark-blue eyes. He has an average frame, with what he considers average looks, and tends to be on the trim side. There's a dusting of pale freckles on his face, though they do tend to come out more the longer he's out in the sun. Though he's thin, there is a layer of muscle from all his Turns working as a Beastcrafter and a rider.
Personality: K'din is a very unassuming young man. He grew up with two gregarious younger siblings, which meant he was always chasing after them. Whether he had always been naturally caring and paternal, or if playing big-brother to two hellion siblings was the source, these days, the man has no problem fussing over those around him. His wingmates will always be checked in upon, his siblings written or visited as often as he can manage, and the weyrbrats and crechekids will find an easy, and malleable target, in K'din. He is the sort of man who just wants to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable... And has no problem getting protective if danger should rear its ugly head.
Unfortunately, this can cause him to come off as over-bearing. Perhaps it's because he's the eldest, but K'din sometimes pushes a bit too much. Paired with a naturally fretful personality, and you can bet this green rider knows how to hover. He has the best intentions in mind -- he just wants to make sure you're okay, you're all right, and that you let Feyeth know when you get to wherever it is you're going. There's a lot of bad out there in the world, and he cant help but worry.
K'din has a good heart. He's very compassionate and sweet; he is the sort who will listen to anothers woes, and do what he can to help them. Unfortunately, he can also be gullible. Just send him a sob story, or a breaking heart, and his desire to protect and care means he'll well likely give into what they need or ask for. Even the creche children know how to play him like a fiddle, but he just can't help himself. He's not a very firm man, for all that he should be, especially when looking after younglings.
At the end of the day, K'din is very good hearted. He might not be the sort of hero in a Harper's tale, but when things fall apart, you can bet he'll be a beacon of support. He would give the shirt off his back, or his very last mark, to anyone who needed it, and not think twice about it.
Positive Trait List Compassionate, Gallant, Paternal
Negative Trait List Fretful, Over-Bearing, Gullible
History: Khinidin was brought up in a Hold outside of Tillek. He was the eldest child, but a bit of a delicate and sickly young thing. His parents were overjoyed to have a son, but also kept him just a little bit sheltered due to how often he seemed to need go to the healers. He was a sweet child, patient, and generally easy to raise. He was his parents little star, until his mother gave birth to a second son, Shinnikan. Where Khinidin was easy-going and reserved, Shinnikan seemed to be born with boldness.
Khinidin was overjoyed to play older brother. He cooed over the baby and took to him with ease -- there was no jealousy or envy of replacement. As the two boys grew, they were quite close. As he aged, he also overcame his sickly nature, and it seemed having a baby brother gave him renewed vigor. His little sibling often kept him on his toes, and was far more wild than he ever would have been alone. Khinidin also did what he could to fuss over him, and to keep his baby brother in line!
One more sibling was dropped in the mix -- an if Shinnikan was wild, then Kiri was a little terror. She was adored by the eldest brother, but with age and time, having two to keep in line was a bit of a losing battle. Perhaps that was just as well. At Turn 11, he was taken under wings of some local beastcrafters to begin to learn the trade. His gentle and paternal nature made him a fine choice in learning how to care for local herdbeasts, or to shepherd flocks of caprines. He hadn't been sure what he wanted to do with beastcraft, besides work with animals, but his parents assured him he had time to figure it out.
By Turn 13 he eventually was sent to Keroon where the Beastcrafter's Hall was located. He delved into his studies, and while he was a shy and quiet young man, his love for knowledge made him a Hall favorite. It was here that he began to learn real independence. This was the first time he was far from his family, but was put in a small cothold with other young men learning the Craft, and kept under the eye of a strict but kind cotholder. For the most part he blossomed. He made a few good friends, and though he was periodically picked on, or laughed at by being a bit more gentle than some of the others -- he also had a natural touch for breaking in wild stock, and assisting in difficult births.
It was also here Khinidin suffered his first crushes and heartache. He had always known he'd been interested in other boys, and a few of the more rugged and outgoing boys -- boys who would never look twice his way -- caught his eye. Much to his surprise, one of them did wind up looking his way -- and though their relationship was short-lived as the other soon walked the tables and was transferred to Southern Hold -- he did learn a lot about himself and love.
Late in his 19th Turn, working to walk-the-tables as Journeymen, a Search came through Keroon. Dragons were fascinating to the man, but a bit of a rarity as the surrounding Weyrs were relatively defunct. In this case, though, the riders visited the Hold for a day. Much to his surprise, of all the people approached, he found himself talking to a handsome, older blue rider! The man explained that they felt he had what it took to be a rider....and offered him the chance to go back to High Reaches Weyr.
While he was certain he was close to being tapped for Journeymanship, he was also encouraged to take the opportunity. Khinidin did -- and off to the Weyr he went.
The Weyr was overhelming, but fascinating. Though he often spent time with the herdbeasts and animals raised at the Weyr, he found a new, keen interest in the dragons and firelizards that were packed in one place. He had just turned 20 when the eggs began to rock and shake. His family had been brought to the Weyr to see how he might fare, and sure enough, he found himself Impressing one of the first greens to hatch!
He had hardly settled in, and now hew as a weyrling! Impression suited the man, who lost some of his shyness, and came more out of his shell. Feyeth was a sociable little lady, and that meant she was often taking him to meet others. But life at High Reaches Weyr was strict, and he was often kept busy -- too busy to really study his craft even after he graduated under V'mel's stern gaze.
His brother, Shinnikin, was also stationed at the Weyr, having been Searched at his very own Hatching Feast! His parents and sister were proud, and life was good.
At Turn 24, though, everything flipped upside down when Thread came back. His parents perished, and his home Hold was practically wiped off the map, though his sister was saved while out at sea, and brought to Western Weyr. Friends and loved ones at Keroon also perished -- and K'din was one of the riders struggling to fight and defend the Holds. Those days were chaos, ugly, and brutal. Many were lost, and even with all their training, Threadfall was horrific. Both Feyeth and himself wound up getting badly scored during one of the early fights -- he has some nasty Threadscore on his back and sides, and Feyeth has ugly scars down her side.
They have since settled into their position as a wingrider. Though his shy and anxious nature has returned -- mostly out of a fear for losing more loved ones -- Feyeth and he try their best everyday.
Other: He doesn't really like sweet foods. Savory is where it's at!
DRAGON
Name: Feyeth
Age: 6
Color: Green
Size: 20'
Physical Description: She is small for a green. Delicate, like her rider, but that doesn't mean she easily breaks! She has short headknobs, and a shorter tail, but she is sturdy for being small boned.

Personality: Where her precious K'din is a bit more reserved, Feyeth is a sociable little lady. She enjoys being shown off, and that means having her rider take her out to some of the more crowded places in both the Weyr and on Pern. K'din tends to give her what she wants, and while she might be a bit spoiled, she certainly tries not to act like it! A lady would never display such bad behavior -- would they? Where her rider is a bit of a homebody, Feyeth has always had just a bit more of an adventurous spirit -- where her rider might second-guess, Feyeth is a lot more decisive. But when push comes to shove, if her sweet rider really puts his foot down, she will obey. They have a solid relationship knowing when to push one another, and one to hold back.
