Things still do not look like they're getting better for Joy (or anyone else on this prison-island if she were honest) and while she felt somewhat better since waking up, she was still upset and stressed. Hanging out with Roland had helped immensely, as was Caroline's timely save of her dignity. But she was still hungry and stressed which meant she was extra hungry.
And so now she was wandering and exploring the buildings by herself. Which in hindsight tends to be a bad idea but hey, you only live once! In her wandering, she found the holy land: that is the Cafeteria. No one seemed to be around to use it or clean up the food that had gone bad. Oh wasted food just pissed Joy off.
Nothing to be done now.
"Yan ang akala mo!" She declared, placing her hands on her underdeveloped hips. phantompanther13 Joy's ready to feed you, Clyde

Clyde was trying to avoid the teenagers. It wasn't that he hated them. But they were everywhere. Absolutely everywhere. He just needed a cup of coffee and possibly a nap. Except it looked like everyone had left. Where was everyone? And by everyone he meant all the adults? .... "I should have stayed off island." Except the cafeteria was a wreck and there was no one servicing anyone. It was almost like... the entire island turned into teenagers. But that was silly. He wandered over trying to find coffee.

Joy should have changed into something else, something that cooking in was actually an okay idea. But then again, nothing fit her in the room she woke up in and she felt bad enough that she had to borrow someone else's stuff so she was just going to have to deal.
Her first order of business was to assess s**t and that was obvious enough: It was a disaster. She was gonna have to figure out where anything and everything was so she knew what she could actually make.
And then she spotted him and her eyes practically bugged out. "An adult!" she declared, pointing at him in accusation.

"??? Yes? I am an adult." Clyde looked down at the girl he half recognized. she seemed familiar anyways. But she was pretty young. "Do you see any coffee? The island is crazy again and I need about 3 cups before I can regain my sanity." he was just a man on an island full of hormonal teenagers. "Maybe make that 4 cups." He riffled through the cupboards. One of these had to have coffee.

Joy was half expecting some sort of over-reaction to her presence. Either one of terror and disgust (like Noaginger) or one of concern and worry (like Caroline). And that about sums up her awareness of the adults on the island. If there were more of them, Joy only now considered the possibility. This almost blasé reaction she got from him was downright weird.
"No, I don't know where the coffee is. Or anything. I've never been here before."phantompanther13 Okay maybe not as ready as I thought she would be XD

"Oh well then it's scavenging time." he finally found the right cupboard and there was coffee, blissful sweet ground up caffeine. Yes this was what he needed after a day's work. He pulled out the bag and the filters and got to work getting a pot started. "There are normally people working here and serving food. Some times me, we take turns after all." Clyde shrugged. Where was all the adults anyways? Maybe he should spend more time on the island and not building bases. "I'm Clyde, what's your name?" he leaned against the wall waiting for pure black liquid goodness to fill his cup.

Joy continued to watch the man in suspicion, debating whether to give him her real name or the safer nickname the others were calling her. She supposed that if he was one of the people who brought her here, he would have the ability to check if she was lying or not.
In the end, she went with "Joy," and left it at that. No last names, no ages or anything. "You know what this place is for?"

"Huh, you aren't the only Joy here then." didn't he know a girl named joy? she was older. Kind of looked like her. "Well last I checked this is where the cafeteria is. Come to think of it, aren't you a bit young to be on island?" along with... Unless. "Oh no." what happened? Clyde finally put everything together. "Joy?" Don't mind him if he was a bit slow on this particular realization. And the realization that he kind of wanted to get back off island now. Except... how? Everyone was... "Everyone turned into teenagers." he shook his head and just sighed. "You know what. Maybe I should just go back to bed till you all grow up again."

At first, Joy was giving Clyde an immensely unimpressed no duh face at how he described the cafeteria and that room was for. And the face remained when he repeated her name, as if she hadn't just told him what it was. And then there was slow recognition dawning on the older man's face.
Joy didn't know what he was realizing and she wanted to fix that. "Oh no, di pwede! You stay!" She made to grab at his coat, ranting "You sound like you know what this island is for. None of the adults here are saying anything about it. We just keep getting told not to worry, that we're on some island in the Bahamas, and we can't call anyone outside or that if we leave they'll kill us!"
There was obviously a lot of frustration in the teenager. She just wanted to know what was going on.

Well that was good news but he didn't even know what was really going on or how to fix it. "More like leaving will get you killed I think. But I think... all the adults. You teenagers are the adults. I just got back not long ago. I must have been off island when it happened." whatever it was. "And before you ask I don't know what happened or how. Just that... as insane as it sounds.... well where else did all the staff go?" because there was staff before.

"Get me killed how?" Joy was a teenager but she was at the age where she'd just left the awkward tween stage and was now in the awkward teen stage. "And what do you mean us teenagers are the adults, I don't remember being an adult and I sure as ******** don't remember coming here."
Yes, she was getting worked up and the presence in her head wasn't doing anything to calm her down either. In fact, he seemed to be goading her frustration to overwhelming.
Which was why Joy gave a really sarcastic response to the (what was clearly a) rhetorical question regarding the staff, "I dunno, maybe they went to the bathroom all at the same time?"phantompanther13 I just noticed your Andrew+Butane avvy. it's the B E S T

"There are monsters out there." a vague answer but also very true. "You don't?" huh well. "What do you remember?" was this normal? He really should spend more time on the main island. And get caught up in this?Van was right, he changed his mind. He shouldn't. But the coffee was nearly done.

"Duh there are monsters, but we got albularyos" (and good luck getting teenaged Joy to find an English translation of that local term) "To deal with them and the monsters usually don't bug you if you don't piss them off."
Joy didn't think twice about trusting Clyde (slightly more), at least he actually answered her questions and didn't act like an a*****e about it. Sure he didn't really know much or enough for his answered to be considered useful to the teen, but it was a start and that was something.
"I remember hanging out with my barkada, my friends back home. And then I went to bed." She left out the part where she didn't do her homework and her prayer before going to sleep was only mumbled half-heartedly.

"The what now?" that was one term he was completely unfamiliar with. "And then woke up here?" he mused and then shrugged. "Then I have no clue. Sorry kid. But I'm sure there is some grub around here. If you need, I can help cook. I have basic skills and can scrap something together." Other than that she was on her own really. Clyde didn't know what was going on or who he needed to shoot and no assignments. And whatever was going on seemed weird and he was happy with his cup of jo and to go wait it out unless something exploded.

Joy's lips twisted into an irate frown, "I know how to cook! I just don't know where anything is," she muttered, folding her arms across her chest like a petulant teenager trying so hard to be grown up. "I won't say no to you showing me where they keep the things and then making you something to eat."
