As much as he would rather not be in this place, filled with the smell of chemicals and weakness, he couldn't put it off forever. Even he wasn't stupid enough to piss off Edith, or any of the senior moons for that matter. So it was with much reluctance he shuffled into the infirmary to do his duties, checking on the injured, changing bandages, and all the horrible things that involved touching open wounds and more disgusting things.

He performed his duties half-arsed, slapping bandages on and barely glancing at people. At least there weren't anyone seriously injured here.

Jason passed a doorway onto his next task when he paused, catching the sight of a familiar trainee in the doorway. Oh. Him.

"So you're still alive?" He asked, leaning on the door frame and stared, scowling at Kai.

Jason stared a moment longer, trying to hide the smirk that was forming on his face. Kai had given him a brilliant idea, and he was going to run with this.

He coughed into his hand, then put on a solemn expression.

"Sorry to say, that wont be much longer." He spoke quietly. "I read up your charts earlier. And it doesn't look good."

It was so hard to keep from laughing, the trainee ready to believe everything he said. Oh, he was going to enjoy this.

"It appears you took significant damage to the muscles within your shoulder, right down to the bone itself. Numerous ligaments and nerve endings were severed, and severe blood loss was sustained. I fear even some of your spinal nerves may have been damaged, meaning you may lose feeling in your legs later on."

A pause, for effect. "I also fear that's not the worst of it, the damage in your shoulder was severe enough to rupture the main artery that leads to your heart. Not completely server it, but enough that your heart's ability to pump blood around your body is quite impaired, much more then your weapon can heal. For now you're stable, but for how long I can't say, maybe a few days, a few months. However the end result will be the same..."

The sly smile Jason was trying to hide vanished the moment Kai didn't react the way he wanted to. He had expected shock, grief, sadness, but not indifference.

"I know enough to make a diagnosis." he replied, his solemn turn sounding more curt now. "Which I just did. I just told you that you'll be dead soon. Thats kinda big thing."

Jason could only stare in abject disbelief at just how...calm this guy was. After he had told him he was going to die. It was incomprehensible for the moon that someone could be so easy going about their imminent demise.

"...you've been close before?" He asked, eye the larger man critically. "You mean you've been stupid enough to almost get yourself killed, even before you were a hunter?"

Was this guy just that unlucky, or did he have a penchant for getting into strife?

Jason was in awe of just how easily this man admitted that he was a complete ******** moron.

"I am amazed that one person could experienced so many near death experiences." No, really, he was. "What the hell could you be searching for that would get you almost killed numerous times?"

He huffed at the 'death wish' part. "Hmph, I have no desire to die. I'm only here to get power, to be stronger than those who seek to destroy me, so I can return the favor." He smirked at a pleasant thought. "Their blood will run in the streets"

He shrugged. "Yeah, Pretty much." Jason wasn't about to deny it. It was the truth. Well everything except the doctor part.

He kept quiet and listened to Kai. his incredulous expression never leaving his face. "And why would you be in such a hurry to die?" Seriously, he may be ******** up, but this guy was on another level. At least he could respect the power part. "Power is good. As you say, it garners respect from friend and foe alike."

As for who he wanted to destroy? He shrugged again. "No one in particular. You said it yourself, someones always trying to be the best, the strongest. I seek to claim that position, so I will not be taken prey to the shadows that lurk this world." He had experienced it before, know what it was like to be powerless, and he would never be like that again. "No one will get in my way, I will see to that."

Of course. There were people like that. Jason frowned at the thought. To him it was incomprehensible someone would want to do something so permanent. Nor could he let the scorn of others push him to such lengths. It only made him want to push back, twice as hard.

And then they were back to the injury. "Hmm...Perhaps a few days, I guess? You might be lucky..." His somber expression was cracking, mouth threatening to break into a smile followed by copious amounts of laugher at just how gullible this guy was.
