Zan didn't need to do this anymore. His Prytaneum stipend was a larger and more regular source of income than he had ever received from performing, and in many ways, saving the world was more fun. Training and adjusting to his new life had kept him busy enough so far, but he eventually realized that he missed the giddy power that came from making strangers laugh and tap their toes, and nothing was stopping him from doing something about it.

It took him a week or so after that revelation to get his stuff together, and finally, just before noon on this chilly February day, he stood near the Hearth with his banjo on his back, waiting for clearance to step through.

It was simple economy that if you were sending two people to the same city, you should send them at the same time. Zan was on time, but Asher was not; left his poor roomie standing out in the cold for fifteen or twenty minutes before he came running up, one hand gripping the handlebars of his bike and one settled on the seat.

For a moment, he just blinked -- and then, easy and familiar, he grinned and offered a fist out toward Zan. "Going home, man?"

He had almost worked up enough sarcastic indignation to counter his standard good mood when he heard someone approaching. Zan turned. He raised his fist. He bumped. Good humor restored.

"Yeah, I am. I'm just gonna hang out, play a little music. I don't have anyone I need to see right now, so..." He shrugged. All of his worldly possessions had come back with him when he'd made his last trip to the city, but shopping was always entertaining and there was the whole performing thing. He really did miss it.

"What are you going to do with yourself?"

"I dunno." Asher hiked his bag up a little higher on his shoulder, looking past Zan to the fire behind him, his chin tipped up just a little bit in consideration.Then he smiled again, looking back.

"Pick up some supplies, I guess. I have a friend bartending at a place this weekend, maybe I'll swing by...nothing really important, though." And admitting it made him pull a little face, maybe regretting it.
