Gale knew she shouldn’t be going to this date mixer again. She knew even as she put on some makeup, and adjusted her hair, and walked out of her apartment door. This was dishonest. Besides, she would most likely be paired with a cat again…but if she was, well…at least that wouldn’t be cheating.

A something now. Not a girlfriend. Stella wouldn’t let her call her girlfriend, but…but they were a something…they hadn’t been a something when she had signed up for this…so that was fair, right? It was a new something…and she hadn’t…
Maybe she should just turn around and go home…maybe that would be the best thing to do. But…but that would leave this poor…
She paused, pulling the card out of her pocket again and looking at the name.
Lucian. It would leave this poor Lucian all by himself, wondering why his date didn’t come, and wondering what he did wrong and…
…and that was too much pressure for anyone.
She couldn’t just leave. She had to honor her commitment and make sure that Lucian had a nice night, and try very hard not to think about Stella during all of this. Yes. That was exactly what she had to do. At six forty-five on the nose, the brunette handed in her ticket and marched over to the painting that she was going to be meeting her date under. It wasn’t…what she was expecting. But, when was art ever what you expected…wasn’t that what made it…art?
Now she just had to wait on Lucian…and hope that she could keep her cool through all of this.

Going on 'dates' wasn't his thing but since it was his birthday and Cordy had taken him out to lunch he figured he could try something new. At least agreeing to go to a museum would mean he'd have -someone- to spend his birthday with that wasn't his cousin or his cat. Because if he was honest with himself that would be sad. So he'd put on a pair of nice slacks, a dark gray shirt, his plaid scarf, and a pair of comfortable shoes before heading out. The cab ride wasn't too long to the museum and he checked his invitation once he was there. At least it was a painting he liked. When he headed that way he noticed the young lady with the pink dyed hair and figured that was his 'date'. "Have to wonder if they imagined that's what lillies would look like or if they went diving in a lake often enough that they remembered in such detail."

Gale was quite proud of the fact that she didn’t jump when the voice spoke from behind her, instead, she gave a laugh, that was only slightly edged with the surprise she had felt and nodded. “When I read the card, I don’t know, I was expecting like…Easter lilies…but instead…lily pads…I get it though. I get it.”
Now she just had to turn around. Turn around and hope beyond hope that this was a human. The voice wasn’t coming from near the floor at least, so if it was a cat again…it was at least a tall cat.
Drawing in a breath, Gale turned around and broke into a grin. “Thank God. You’re not a cat. Not that I don’t like cats…but…” She swallowed, unsure if she should ramble on or not…but she couldn’t help it. “Last year my date for this thing was a cat and I’m so glad you’re human…u-unless you’re not Lucian in which case, just ignore me and I hope you end up having a great time…”
She talked way too much. There was absolutely no reason to be this nervous. This was just…
This was just a date. Thing. A thing date. A datelet?

"I think most people except more flowery lilies and not what are usually thought of as swamp plants." He at least though water lilies were swamp plants and figured most other people did since that's where they usually were. "It's nicer than I thought it would be though, from what I've seen in books." When she turned around and started going on about a cat he laughed. "You know, I almost brought my cat but I thought that might be cheating a little." Plus if he'd brought Sumi he didn't have any excuse to leave if he'd been stuck with a bad 'date'. "I am Lucien so you must be Gale?" He held a hand out knowing it was the proper thing to do.

Gale shook her head. “If you would have brought your cat, I would have just started crying. Oh it was so confusing last year to be paired with a cat, honestly I felt like I had done something wrong! I mean, he was a cute cat…even had a little bowtie and he let me pick him up and dance a little…and I do like cats but…”
She broke off, cheeks reddening. She really talked way too much when she was nervous. Finally, after tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Gale held out her hand to the male. “Yeah, yeah I’m Gale! It’s very nice to meet you, Lucien. You…you have a cat? Is it a nice cat?”
Okay, so this was not turning out as she had hoped…but that couldn’t be her fault…he had mentioned a cat…and she did like cats…so…

"I actually ... never really liked cats much. Or never gave them much thought." He ran a hand through his hair again. "But Sumi, my cat, is cute enough so I like him enough. He's sweet and likes to cuddle." He wondered why she was so nervous, sure meeting a cat the year before might have sucked but it wasn't worth freaking out about. "Kinda seems like cats aren't your favorite subject though"
