Iridescent Egg 1'6'' tallSitting at the forefront of the clutch, the first that the candidates will see, is a round and very attractive egg. This egg is comfortably medium, but it is not the egg's size that will draw people attention. The shell is best described as pearlescent, a softly swirling mass of pale rainbows. When candidates reach out and touch the surface of this smooth egg they will be greeted by a radiating sense of warmth that swiftly encompasses them. Layered Egg 1'9'' tallSat shortly behind Iridescent is the Layered egg, slouching in a shallow wallow. This egg has a series of pronounced ridges and is one of the more boldly patterned eggs in the clutch, with a series of green shades in overlapping layers, darken towards the base. This medium-large egg unfurls warmth to candidates that touch the green hued shell, the greeting is sleepy and tired, but it is still clearly there. Average Egg 1'5'' tallOn the smaller side of average, this egg lives up to its name exceptionally well. The shell shape is average. It's position in the clutch is comfortably in the centre, without being overly close to anyone. It's nearest neighbours only seem to serve to draw attention to how muted the blue and grey tones of the egg are. The shell has a series of shallow ridges that run in line with the changes in colour. Even when touched the shell is nothing remarkable. The dragonet is clearly there, it just doesn't make much of a statement. Daydream Egg 1'3'' tallThe second that any candidate touches the smooth surface of Daydream they will feel a presence tickling at the edges of their mind. The touch is light, feeling somewhat like hair or a small insect alighting on skin. The small egg, noticeably one of the smallest in the clutch, sits in a deep wallow, behind a cluster of its siblings. The smooth shell is attractive with a series of soft pinks and pale purples. Lightning Egg 1'6'' tallOn the left side of the clutch is a second cluster of eggs, with the bold patterned Lightning standing at the forefront. This rough-shelled oval stands almost precariously upright, tall mounds of sand keeping it upright on all sides. Touching the egg will make candidates aware of a building pressure, of feeling like their hairs are starting to stand on end. The dark swirling purples and blues, or the bold, jagged, bright streak may give candidates the feeling of foreboding. Lamenting Egg 1'10'' tallThis egg is by far the most vocal of the clutch. This tall, thin, oval, lies slumped in the sand. Candidates need not touch this shell to know its feelings, being anywhere near this egg they will become aware of something akin to a soft sobbing. Those that dare to touch the egg will instantly feel damp, as though they have just come in from the rain. The smooth, blue, egg will continue to sob, but will quickly cling to visitors as it does. Enfolding Egg 1'10'' tallNestled behind and between Lightning and Lamenting is the monumental Enfolding. This plain, brown, egg sits in a deep wallow that by no way serves to hide how large the egg is, being the tallest and drastically widest. Touching the smooth, mammoth, egg will give candidates a fuzzy feeling, as though something fluffy is slowly wrapping around them and crushing them. Some may even find the experience oppressive. Snowdrift Egg 1'3'' tallA pale egg sits on the fringe of clutch. Were it not for its more distant sibling, Snowdrift may well be considered an outcast. Truthfully it is not overly far from its siblings, sitting in the middle and equally close to both clusters that have formed. The smooth egg is a gentle mix of whites and greys, and candidates that touch this egg will be greeted by a feeling that matches the shell. A feeling of cold will slowly seep into candidates, making them shiver. Noctis Egg 1'3'' tallThe Noctis egg is a clear outcast in their clutch. The egg is noticeably quiet, touching the shell will feel like looking into a void and it is debated whether there is even an occupant in there, although Malsalth is adamant that there is, but she is sick and it would not be surprising for her to be wrong. This small egg is one of the darkest of the clutch, a dark swirling sphere of dark purples and blues.

Standing at the candidate’s entrance to the hatchings cavern was anot old, but severe looking woman. Sh’shi tapped her left index finger against her cane as she waited. It was the first day of the touching and the candidates knew that. They had been given the morning to prepare themselves, there would be no chores or lessons today. The touching could be a harrowing experience for some, especially first time candidates. Those that were unprepared to have another mind forcing it’s way into theirs. Unhatched dragons did not have the understanding of their older brethren and that often led to them intruding where they shouldn’t. Candidates often needed time to recover from the experience, especially the first timers. They had been given their instruction this morning. They were to meet her at the candidate’s entrance a candlemark after the midday meal. This was the entrance they would use until such a time that they impressed or they aged out. For some this would be their first time not using the public entrance that led in from outside. For others it would be their first time in a hatching cavern at all. They were to be washed and dressed smartly, Sh’shi had ensured that each candidate had at least one pair of smart clothes to wear. Anyone who was late or not suitably presentable certainly wouldn’t be seeing the eggs today. The moment it struck a candle mark after the midday meal Sh’shi began her instructions. “Candidates,” she began sharply. “Beyond this tunnel lies the clutch of Queen Malsalth of K’rin.” Usually she would have stated ‘junior’, but that was questionable. Malsalth was Fort’s only gold, meaning her role as Senior was indefinite and it was only a matter of time. However it was fairly certain at this point that she would not live to see another clutch. The healers now focused only on making the dragon comfortable. “For some of you, beyond this tunnel, is the dragon that you will share your life with.” It used to be ‘the rest of your life with’ but that was no longer a guarantee. “This experience is available so that you have the opportunity to interact with the dragons before they hatch. This is so that they can get to know you and, hopefully, have an easier time of seeking you out when they hatch.” So that they didn’t claw their way through all the other candidates trying to find you. “Now, those of you who have stood for a clutch here at Fort will know that usually you are free to interact with the eggs at any time for a sevenday. Sadly, because of the health of Queen Malsalth, you are only permitted to visit while Malsalth is feeling well. Whenever you wish to visit simply ask myself, my assistants or our dragons. They will speak to Malsalth and see if she is content for you to visit.” Given Malsalth’s giving temperament she would allow them entrance at any time anyway. “When you enter you will present yourself to Queen Malsalth and Weyrwoman K’rin. You will thank them for allowing you this opportunity, bow and then move on, to the eggs. After your first visit a bow to them both each time you enter will be suitable, but you may thank them again if you wish.” Sh’shi fixed her charges with a stern look. “I should not need to remind you that these eggs are children and I certainly do not need to stress how important this particular clutch is. You will maintain your composure at all times. No running. No shouting. You will be gentle with the eggs and you will try your damnedest not to upset them or Malsalth with your behavior.” Malsalth was well within her rights to ban candidates from the sands. Other golds had been petty with that power in the past. Sh’shi listed off a few more rules and guidelines for how to behave in the cavern. Finally she tapped her cane harshly against the stone floor to break the candidates out of any find of relaxed state her speech had lulled them in to. “Right then. Let’s go.” With that she turned and walked briskly through the tunnel, expecting her charges to keep up. As the group walked along the tunnel the stone floor slowly gave way to sand and the temperature swiftly increased. The eggs and Malsalth slowly came in to view, K’rin standing by her dragons feet. The gold’s condition had worsened in the near month since her clutch had been laid, her skin hung loosely and had an indisputable grey pallor, the metallic sheen of the larger colours barely noticeable. Despite it all she had drawn herself up in the traditionally proud position of a clutchmother. K’rin stood at her feet, dark circles around her eyes. The fine dress she wore expertly cut to try and minimise the noticeability of her weight loss. The young woman, younger than some of the candidates, stood proudly beside her dragon, although no smile showed on her face. Sh’shi stepped forward and bowed her head to the pair, before moving to the side and indicating the candidates forward. The Touching Is Now Open! Quote: Rules- To interact with an egg post your character touching it and bold the name. You will then be Pm'd the egg's response. - You may interact with eggs for as many posts as you feel appropriate for your character - Candidates can visit eggs at anytime for the following sevenday. They are required to ask permission to enter the sands, but you are free to assume this is granted at any time. - Be polite and don't have your character touching an egg while another character is already touching it. Remember candidates can visit at different times.

They'd been given the talk before of course but she guessed some people needed a refresher, some of the kids here looked like they were going to wet themselves with either excitement or terror.
Vee was excited too but she was trying to play it cool and though she was near the front of the group - she wanted to be able to touch an egg straight away - she wasn't right at the front. She would've stood slouching with her arms crossed if she thought she could get away with it but today she suspected she could not, She'She would whack her with her cane and toss her out probably and that was the last thing she wanted.
At long last the old woman stopped talking and led them into the sands; Vee was careful to keep her place in the pack just the way it was, and for once not by shoving because everyone was on their best behaviour.
And then they were on the sands looking at the remains of the clutch, and the remains of a dragon. The gold hardly looked alive at all to Vee, she'd heard people say that Masalth would already have gone between if not for her eggs. Poor shaffing beast; it'd be kinder to her to put her out of her misery right now but people never seemed to think that was a choice for dragons or humans, ironically the exception to this was a human who'd lost their dragon. Would the tired looking teenager hang on after her bondmate was gone? And what about any of them who bonded, but then their dragon got sick?
Vee's scarred hands flexed, her knuckles itched because she was angry and she was angry because she was scared and for once she couldn't deal with that by fighting. She swallowed, clenched her fists, and bowed to the sickly dragon and her worn rider; least she could do was offer the dead-things walking some respect even if it hadn't been a requirement.
When Sh'shi indicated they could now approach Vee took a deep breath and headed past the main group of eggs right to the back where the Noctis Egg stood alone. So. This was going to be... interesting. The egg would know she was scared, right? She couldn't hide that? Well, shaff it then, let it see her and if it didn't like what it saw she'd move on.
Vee exhaled and stooped to lay her hands on the dark purple shell of the Noctis Egg, and yes she was scared but she was determined to honour her friend by doing this and she was excited too underneath it all. A dragon egg. Here she was, Holdless born and bred, and she was touching a dragon egg. One day, if she was very lucky, she might find herself flying through the sky on the back of one of these very dragons! They could lead wings, travel wherever they wanted, and- Well whatever else riders did! They'd do it well, they'd do it better than anyone her she and her dragon! And it wouldn't get sick, not her dragon. It would be okay.

The_Muffin_Puppy At first the response to Vee from Noctis is... nothing. The silence stretches on for several moments as Vee's assertions echo inside the egg. It does not feel as though the egg is dead, just... not there at the moment. As though the occupant as stepped out for a short while. This is not, however, the reality. Noctis is definitely there. They're just very small and very quiet. If Vee keeps her mind open and manages to keep her thoughts still, she may feel the slight stirring of Noctis' as it cautiously peers at her thoughts, keeping a very safe distance away. That all sounds very... exciting. Noctis isn't so sure it really likes exciting. Vee seems very... driven. Noctis isn't sure it likes driven. Vee is very intense and Noctis is not. Noctis is sure that they are not the dragon that Vee is looking for. She wants to do great things and be seen, Noctis doesn't want to be seen at all. This statement made the mind seems to shrink back even further, still cautiously watching Vee. Would she be mad at them? From looking at the dark, intense shell she'd expected... well something a little more there. It was a while before she felt anything at all and even when she did pick up on the egg's thoughts they seemed small and shy, almost fragile to her mind. The egg didn't think it was for her and honestly Vee agreed but there wasn't any anger in her mind as she came to this conclusion, she simply shrugged and sent it a vague feeling of encouragement. Probably one of the candidates here would be just what it wanted, maybe somebody with soft hands from a soft background? Something like that. Vee withdrew her hands from the Noctis egg and stood up with a slight frown furrowing her brow; that had been interesting, Linunth had spoken to her a couple of times but it hadn't felt like that. Egg minds were different she guessed, not quite made yet, and the personality was obviously completely different to the cocky green she'd thought so much of. She'She had said they could take breaks, come back whenever, but Vee was still feeling fresh and vital and honestly she was keen to find and egg that was more up her street and so she turned to survey the rest of the clutch with thoughtful dark eyes. Maybe the pink one? It was very pretty, she'd never've been able to keep anything that colour clean and it didn't really go with her image anyway.... But it was pretty. Mind made up Vee strode over to the Daydream Egg, stooped, and laid her hands flat on the shell. Feeling that maybe she'd come on a bit strong with Noctis this time she tried to reach out a bit more gently with a feeling of greeting, but she couldn't conceal from it her excitement and the thoughts that had run through her mind when she touched the pink egg's sibling still bubbled away in the background too.

The_Muffin_Puppy As Vee's hands rest on Daydream's shell, tendrils seem to drift slowly up Vee's arms and into her mind. The touch is gentle and surprisingly eager given Vee's last interaction. A happy greeting bubbles up from the occupant's mind. Don't mind Noctis, they're a lonely sort. Certainly don't let them make you think you need to be different. Daydream is fully in favour of your excitement. Excitement is good. Excitement is fun. If an egg could giggle Daydream probably would and the feeling of merriment is front and centre. Excitement drives us to adventure. The tendrils begin to work their way into the corners of Vee's mind and the excitement grows until the egg near vibrates with it. Look at all the places you've been! Oh, oh! Tell Daydream about them! Please? Please?! Daydream so desperately wants to know about these places. There is so much outside this egg, but Daydream has to stay here, their mother says so. Vee doesn't have to stay here. She can go anywhere. Not like Daydream. A feeling of irritation laces through the bond between the pair. Frustration at being contained. Please tell Daydream of the places you've seen, Vee, maybe that will make their time trapped here more tolerable. Well she'd be pretty pissed if she was stuck inside an egg too, how boring must that be? The egg's excitement seemed to bubble through her veins like that expensive wine they'd once stolen four cases of, her heart beat faster and her fear faded into the background. Well! She'd been to every Hold worth mentioning from Fort down to Souther Boll. Mountains flashed through her mind with the bite of cold and aching feet, fast flowing streams and then fat silty rivers, then there were fields growing all manner of crops, and then there were trees. The sea roared against cliffs in a storm and then lapped lazily at a golden beach; the scent of it was strong in Vee's memory, nothing quite like the smell of the sea. "And that's just the places," she whispered to the egg, "it's the people that're really interesting!" She'd always liked people, on her own terms of course. Without a brand she'd been free to wander the bigger holds where a stranger didn't get commented on; busy markets filled her mind and noisy ale houses lit by glow and firelight.

The_Muffin_Puppy Yes! Yes! Yes, this is exactly what Daydream wanted. The young mind drinks in the sensations that come their way, breathing deeply the scents and relishing in the sounds. As Vee shares her memories Daydream's elation grows to a near fever pitch. It almost feels like the egg could hatch right now, they're just so excited. Surely they must be ready to leave by now? The egg's impatience pushes at Vee's mind. Would she be able to convince their mother? So far Daydream hadn't been able to convince her that they were ready, which was terribly unfair. They wanted to see it all now. Vee was right, it was boring here. Insufferably boring. When Vee mentioned people Daydream quickly snapped out of their pouting. People? They hadn't considered people before. All they had were the minds in this cave to talk to. There used to be more of them. Daydream didn't know where the others went. They just gradually all stopped answering. Did they go to the places Vee thought of? Was that where Daydream would go too? When they stopped answering? Unaware of the dark trend of their thoughts Daydream quickly moved on again, carefully examining the scenes Vee presented. Daydream liked the idea of these places. They seemed very interesting. Did everyone have minds full of places like Vee? Daydream didn't have places to share, but now they had Vee's places to visit. The oceans and markets, they would provide Daydream a treasured escape from this dark cave. Daydream is very grateful to you, Vee. You are a good friend. Vee grinned wryly and shook her head. "I wish," she muttered. If the hatching was now, right now, there'd be no more anxious waiting; she hated waiting and waiting for something as huge as this was nearly unbearable. At least she could walk around though, Daydream was stuck here.... Stuck here listening to the other eggs go quiet. Ugh. "You'll be here soon," Vee added softly, raising her head to look around the glow-lit cavern and hoping that the egg was able to pick up on the image of the place, except it would be full of people of all kinds and one of them would be Daydream's partner for life. Could it even be her? Where the others had gone... well she honestly didn't know that but Daydream would have plenty of great places to see as soon as it was out of its shell, the Weyr was a big place to explore and it had a huge lake that Daydream could swim in and chase fish if it wanted.

Iskosian had been anxious about this day. This oh so important, drilled into his brain day. He would be touching the eggs laid by the gold. It would be nothing like Clipper's egg, which had been warm and not done much until it hatched. Even now, Clipper was a clever blue but he didn't speak. Just sent emotions and images that made sense to him. He was in better garb than he normally wore as he wiped his palms on his pants. They went a different way to the sands and soon were before the eggs.
What were they supposed to do? Oh yes, bow and say thank you. Nodding more to himself than anyone else, Isko stepped forward and gave a quick bow, his eyes to the ground. He spoke, his voice deep and low, but respectful nonetheless. "Greetings Gold Malsalth. Thank you for this chance to touch your eggs. Greetings, Goldrider K'rin. Thank you as well for this opportunity." Thanks given, Isko stepped to the side after receiving a nod and moved away from the other candidates.
He stood for a moment, not quite in the center, unsure of how to act. Was he supposed to feel something now? Finally, he stepped towards the Average Egg. He liked blue and in a way it reminded of himself. Average, not much to see or look at, but perhaps a deeper mind than most expected. Hesitantly, Iskosian placed a hand on the shell and gave it sort of a stroke. Should he talk? Say hello? He didn't like to talk out loud too much so he just sent a greeting in his head. Like when he was trying to Impress something onto Clipper. Hello, I hope you are well inside of there. Many people are hoping you come out. Iskosian kept his hand there for a moment longer and then pulled it back.
````````````````````````````
Endalil was not nervous. He kept repeating this to himself. He was NOT nervous. He talked to Vesunth practically every day. He worked near dragons, was a weryr brat from ISTA, and was not nervous. He huffed. They would go out to the sands and he would get an idea of whether or not his future life mate was out there. He hoped. His father hoped. Ista hoped. No pressure whatsoever.
He listened to the speech and then they were off, walking towards the sands through the entrance used for candidates. Ugh. Why did that word suddenly make his stomach turn? There was nothing he could do except put one foot in front of the other? So he walked. And he stopped. Before he realized it, he was bowing low in front of the gold and her rider, "Thank you, Malsalth and Rider K'rin for this chance to Impress your eggs."
Shoved off so the next body could stand in front and stammer out some sort of greeting. Endalil looked around and tried to catch the eye of somebody, anybody. He wondered if Vesunth was up there watching. If F'liel was around, looking to see how his only child reacted. Yeah, no pressure. Would anyone be inside of the shells, or were they already gone? Making a choice, he went to the Layered Egg. He liked the different shades of green and the pattern of the egg. He saw Iskosian across from him but the larger youth said not a word. Maybe he was nervous as well.
"Hello in there. Big day for both of us," Endalil felt something, almost like he was ready to take a nap. He shook himself and looked over again. Iskosian was still quiet. Hm, he wanted to tap on the egg but was scared it would hurt the shell. Instead, he gave it almost a pat, like one would pat a canine. "I hope you are okay, maybe paying a little attention to who is coming to check you out." Endalil felt silly just talking but he felt it was better to talk out loud than inside of his head.
The_Muffin_Puppy Ugh, waiting was just the worst. Daydream looked at the imagines Vee offered. The young mind wasn't quite capable of grasping the idea of more people being here. The concept of here was confusing enough. That was here for Vee? That wasn't Daydream's here. Was Daydream's here someplace different? Or could Vee see things that Daydream couldn't? Daydream had just thought it was dark here, it had always been dark. They saw things through their mother sometimes, but those were not here. Here was dark. Except now Vee said that here wasn't dark. Here wasn't dark at all. A shuddering twitch ran through the egg. Perhaps this was why it was dark and here wasn't actually dark after all. What was a fish? Vee grinned and smoothed a hand down the shell before looking down at its pretty pink and purple surface. There, that was it under her dark hand! And the part of it that was thinking was inside the shell, that was why it couldn't see yet. Also, fish: she pictured quick shiny scaly things darting through the water, good to eat if you could catch them!
The_Muffin_Puppy Once Iskosian's hand comes into contact with Average's shell a calm presence makes itself known. Average doesn't interlock with the candidate's mind as others might, more accurately they comes up alongside Iskosian's mind, resting pleasantly. Average is very well, thank you for asking. They have every intention of coming out, not right now mind, but eventually. For a time they must stay here, but they will be out soon enough. Pleasantries handled the young mind seems to turn their attention to Iskosian. It becomes strongly apparent that they are looking at something. Average calmly flicks through the pages of Iskosian's mind, taking note here and there. Introvert. Fisher. The eldest. The mind seems to bump into the bond that attaches Clipper to Iskosian and then carefully moves away from it. Dedicated. Deliberate. Each of these statements are presented with complete neutrality. Average does not reveal whether they views these things as good or bad. They pause in their search, their focus momentarily becoming more intense. You do not wish to be here. Iskosian had watched two other interact with the other eggs. They talked to the eggs, he just stared and hoped he talked. He felt something... weird. The closest thing he could figure was maybe two ships passing close and the crews waving to each other. Maybe something else. It felt odd to have his brain picked at when he barely knew his own thoughts. And then, that tiny little nugget of information that he had tried to hold so close to his heart was pulled out, tugged out and questioned. He rubbed his head and looked around almost guiltily. Everyone wanted to be here, didn't they? Leaning in close, Isko tried to reach out again. Being honest as only the way he knew how. No, I can't say here was my first choice. But here is where I chose to be now. I like what I know and everything in this place, with these eggs are different. But I am dedicated. I will not leave until all the eggs have hatched and I am left standing. If I do get picked, I will be of this place and be just as dedicated to the weyr.He hoped that the tiny dragon inside could see the truth. In his own mind, his own thoughts, he spoke quite a bit. Had much more to reveal. But here, everyone was a stranger. No one knew him like his family had, in a way like Clipper does... He gave the egg a little bow. I hope you don't judge me too harshly.
Quote: Layered was slow to respond to Endalil, their mind sluggish as they seemed to peel back the veils that separated them from the candidate's mind. Hello? Big Day? Was it? Layered seems just slightly confused. Why was it a big day again? And who are you? Actually, never mind. The young mind seems content to curl back up and go to sleep. When Endalil pats the shell he will feel a jolt run through the occupant, a stab in his chest, a flash of panic and then it is gone, replaced by a feeling of mild irritation. What was that for? Were they okay? Well they had been, now they were more awake than they would like to be. So, who were you then? Endalil seems nervous. Any particular reason? Even as they ask their questions it is clear that Layered won't remain awake long. The sleepiness persists even as they seem to try and listen to Endalil's answers. Endalil felt bad for startling the egg with his pat on the shell. He tried really hard to listen to the questions from such a sleepy voice. "The big day is your hatching day, when you chose to leave your shell. There will be a lot of people waiting to see and meet you. As for the other questions."
He looked at the others around him. Some were serious. Others were upset. Some seemed joyful. "I just want to make a good impression on you and your clutchmates. I hope that you get a chance to finish your nap and the others don't disturb you too much. Thank you."
Joscelin fiddled with the cuff of his shirt, fingers swiping over the curling ferns embroidered there. He had spent a bit of time picking out his clothes, settling on a deep cream tunic with embroideries he had stitched himself on the cuff and collar, and pants of dark deep blue. Joscelin had tied his hair back with ribbon to keep it out of his face.
He shifted slightly, nervous because as long as he had been a candidate there hadn't been a clutch before this one. Though to be fair, he hadn't been a candidate all that long. Telgar's gold had been too ill and passed. Joscelin shut his eyes, breathing deeply and shoved it aside as much as he could. That, he shouldn't focus on that.
He was here and the eggs were young, and just stop focusing on that and pay attention.
Joscelin focused on Shi'shi as she spoke, focusing on her words because this was the first time he had been on the sands, the first time there had been eggs. And it wasn't Telgar but there was hope. And that was what he had to focus on then numbers.
He offered his bow to Queen Malsalth and Weyrwoman K'rin. "Thank you," he said politely and walked out into the clutch. He moved to sit down by a group of three and focused on the narrow thin oval of the Lamenting Egg. It was sobbing. "I really can't make this better, but I can be here," he said softly, laying a hand on the shell. It was damp, like coming in from the rain.
The_Muffin_Puppy That was Daydream? The mind looked at itself through Vee's eyes, the idea so foreign to them. Daydream had never considered what they looked like. This was what they knew themselves to be. Daydream shared the sensations they knew with Vee, a long limb brushing against their face, was that their face? Something that they could move easily touching the walls of their egg, four of those. Daydream focused on the image of Vee's hand and the sensation of flexing fingers rippled through their bond. Was this Daydream's hand? Under Vee's hand came a gentle sensation from within the egg. A light thunk, followed by the gentle vibrations of scratching. Thoughts of fish sent a giggle rippling through the egg again. That sounded fun! Daydream was certain that they would be able to catch one of those. Easy peasy! Vee's grin broadened as she felt a gentle thump against her palm and then- was that scratching? "Yeah, that's you," she whispered, rubbing circles on the shell with the pad of her thumb as the rest of her hand remained pressed against it. "You're going to be great, I just know it!" Maybe they'd chase fish together one day, she'd like that.
The_Muffin_Puppy Aww. If an egg could blush then Daydream probably would. They liked Vee very much, she would have to come visit them again. They would definitely chase fish together, once Daydream was out of here. It would be so much fun! "I will," Vee promised, and she tried to send the feeling of that promise along with her words. "Until next time then." With that and a last stroke for the pretty shell Vee straightened up and stretched. As she did so she found herself feeling... odd. She wasn't sure if her head felt empty now she was out of contact with the egg or if it was filled up with it's thoughts and feelings still. Either way she wasn't feeling exactly in the best frame of mind to touch any more eggs just now and so she made another little bow to the gold and her rider before turning to leave the sands. Later that day, a bit after dinner, Vee stepped onto the sands again after confirming that it was alright for her to do so. After some consideration Vee approached the Lightning Egg and stooped to place a hand on its boldly marked shell. The egg tingled and Vee shivered; was unsure whether what she was feeling was excitement or foreboding, and whether it was coming from inside her or from inside the shell.
Quote: The moment Joscelin's hand touches Lamenting's shell they latch on. The presence wraps around him like a fur that has been previously submerged in water, the sensation so strong that Joscelin would not be blamed for thinking someone had just dumped a bucket of water on him right there on the sands. The sobbing continues unabated and Lamenting begins to riffle through Joscelin's thoughts. They are not delicate or careful like their siblings, instead loudly blundering through memories and personal thoughts. Oh! You are so far from home! How can you bare it?! The sobbing becomes a bone rattling wail. You must be so frightened and alone! To be here all by yourself, so far away from your family and the people who love you! Lamenting seems almost to heave with the force of their cries as they become solely focused on wailing over Joscelin's hardships. In a way he had thought that it would be some what familiar, that the presence would be more like Quill's light airy touches and soft touches. Even if the egg had been broadcasting its distress so vividly. Instead, it felt like he had been drenched and wrapped as it invaded his thoughts and ooh. "Well, not truly alone, all the other candidates are around," He started, gathering his thoughts. "It's different, a bit warmer then I'm use to, that been rather nice." He stroked the egg, trying to sooth it as the shell almost seemed to heave. "And I miss them, but this won't be forever." He would see them again. "I also like to keep busy and turn to doing things I like." Needlework, writing, art, the song of a fiddle as the bow slid over the strings.
Quote: Average looks at Isko's statements with their consistent neutrality. At least the candidate had considered the potential for impressing. To come here, not wanting to be here, and ignoring that possible avenue would have been foolish. The young mind doesn't really respond to Iskosian's explanation. They are most definitely listening, they acknowledge his statements, but don't reveal a response to it. They are mildly curious though, why be here if he doesn't want to be? That isn't a very good way to attract the attention of Average or their siblings. Why would they choose someone who was only here out of a sense of obligation? The mental feeling of a quirked eyebrow was the reply to Iskosian's bow and request. Average does not judge. Your reasoning is your own. It is not Average's place to validate or invalidate those reasonings. Isko was still feeling very muddled. He was never good at talking or explaining... And it appeared even silent conversations strained him. He tried to read what the egg was probing but he felt like he was going port when he should be starboard. Why be here? I guess because... the dragon saw something in me I didn't know I had. I want to know what it is... I'm used to knowing myself and knowing what others expect of me. I really wish I knew what he saw that made him pick me and no one else. Whether I want to be here or not. If I have to admit it, I hope that spark can make me a better person.He whooshed out a deep breath. It almost felt like a long day's work. I hope you don't mind if I chose to step away. This isn't easy to deal with... All this talking and trying to figure things out for myself. I like simple. This candidate thing is not simple.
