Perhaps it was a foolish endeavour and perhaps it wasn't; but Kathryn wanted a clear view of the situation that was about to unfold once more this year. She had signed up again for the mixer at the museum and thinking back on last year had shown her just how not ready she had been for the event. Though one couldn't have faulted the young woman. Distractions had come right from the get go with the exhibit that she had been assigned to meet her partner under. She had been entranced with the exhibit of hanging stars and perhaps it had seemed all right at the time but looking back on that night Kat was unsure if Jade had truly shared her enthusiasm or if it had been an act. There was no real way that she could find out either.
It had taken the better part of the weekend to make up her mind but finally she had come to a firm resolution. She would not be caught unaware this time by the possibility of the exhibit piece taking away her attention from her "date" this time. It was in this frame of mind that she found herself wandering around the main floor of the museum on a Sunday afternoon. Kathryn sighed before poking around the information on the available exhibits before steeling her resolve. I should just leave it alone but I need to do this. That little pep talk given Kathryn strode to the stairs that led to the second floor and headed up. There weren't many exhibits on the main level and so she figured she would start on the second floor and work her way up.
Taking in the sights of the various titles of exhibits, Kathryn would write them down in a notebook that she carried. Kathryn was making notations about the titles of the exhibits that she was walking by and also a brief description of what the piece was about. A few pieces were actually piquing her interest. There was a good chance that she would return after scoping out the floor above to just enjoy herself afterwards. Right now it was merely a fact gathering mission. Thinking like that made the woman smile. It was like she was in a spy movie or something along those lines and she was doing a reconnaissance mission. Although the truth was she was trying to decide which exhibits would provide good conversation fodder. There was also a small part of her trying to pick which exhibit she and her date would meet up at. At least she finished the second floor and moved up to repeat the process on the third floor. The task was becoming a little tedious and although she felt it needed to be done Kat was starting to become weary of the self-assigned mission. Why did it matter if she was taken by surprise once more? Would her date even care if her attention was not on him or her all evening? With a regretful sigh Kathryn eyed her notes again before finding a bench to sit down on. The afternoon was almost gone now and while the museum was still open for another hour or so Kathryn was becoming bogged down. She had had enough. Tucking her notebook into her shoulder bag Kathryn descended to the main floor and the exit. She'd glance at her notes once more when the envelope arrived in the mail.
