A gentle voice, scared and asking for help, was calling for her. It was a small voice. Hollow. Empty. Like a little doll, perhaps. Kitty Peterson loved dolls. At first, she thought the voice was coming from the beautiful doll she held in her arms. But the voice insisted it was not. Find my body, she asked.

So while Kitty wandered her palace in search for answers as to where the ******** the decorating staff went wrong in this place, she kept a vigilant eye out for the voice's body.

That's when she found a boy. A boy in one of the big buildings she was patrolling. Perhaps he was a footman? Too young to be a butler.

"Um... scuse me?" Kitty asked shyly, timidly making her way toward him in her frilly nightgown, her ball jointed princess doll clutched in her arms. Long wavy brown hair was messily cascaded around her small frame, and large green eyes stared up at the young man.

"Are you a footman?"

Lawrence knew there were good things to be found in these big buildings, things he was allowed now that he hadn't been allowed before. He'd found some sharp things and kept them until their varying sizes had upset him and he'd tossed them away.

When Kitty found him he was carefully straightening some chairs in a hallway with a careful, fixed sort of expression. He didn't look up right away when she spoke to him but instead kept at what he was doing, seeming to notice her only when the last chair was aligned.

"A footman?" he said slowly with his pronounced Manchester accent. "I 'unnow what that is. It sounds dead good though." He smiled. "I can be? I'm good at things."

Queer answer, all things considered. Was he or wasn't he? Honestly, the staffing in this castle was amateur. She smiled anyway, since this was miles better than living in a plain house in the middle of a dumpy city.

"Yes, good. I require assistance. You see, my accommodations are adequate, save for the fact it has not been equipped with a Playstation or even a Nintendo. Also, I would like food. Cake is preferred, but I will also accept savoury snacks in a pinch."

She got a very odd look. "What's a Playstation?" he said. "Is it some other game thing?" He knew about Nintendo, it had just been released that year where he lived and his brother Leif had been telling him about a rich friend who had one. He didn't have the money to bring one to someone here. "My room was dead nice. The food wasn't, there was just weird vegetables in there."

He shook his head. "I don't think I'd be able to get you owt from that."

"Why should I get you things anyway?" he asked, giving her a curious look. "Who are you?"

What a useless footman. Didn't even know gaming. Maybe this was a more primitive alternate universe than she'd thought. At least it wasn't medieval times.

"Huh? Me? I'm.." Her bravado began to dwindle, suddenly not certain of the conclusion she'd come to about this place. "I'm.. the Princess? Of this castle..?" She murmured, slowly hiding her face behind her doll. She'd been so sure she was given the life of a Princess. Her room alone proved that much. Maybe this boy was a commoner that had snuck in...

"I-I demand to see the King!"

"A princess?" he said, looking genuinely impressed, he still wasn't very good at challenging people when they said something was true, given his questionable experience of the world it wasn't particularly surprising that he was gullible. It was hard enough to tell real from false without people helping make it harder. So for now, until logic proved otherwise, the girl was a princess.

"That's dead cool, I've always wanted to meet a princess."

He looked confused at her request though. "Uh there isn't a king, there's a queen. She's been around for a while, I don't think I'd get to meet her. She talks on tv at Christmas."
