Florizel was a tidy person. He liked to keep things in piles and organized by shapes and colors and rarity values (for his mother's benefit.) Today, he was working on sorting through the scales he and his mother had collected a few days prior. His brother was finally coming out of his workshop to visit with Florizel and Zel was determined to make it a fun experience. How else could he guarantee that Lucent would come back for another visit?
Since he knew his brother liked sorting through scales to be used for armor and those that would only make good for trade, so he was prepping the piles. Now, when Zel said, the scales good for trade what he really meant was the ones that weren't up to Lucent's standards would be traded off to the beginner traders from other tribes that didn't know quality or lack-there-of when they saw it. The sturdier scales were either left to the Light Tribe blacksmiths, like Lucent was, or they were put in a more exclusive pile, in case well-renowned traders came around, like Stella, a friend of his mother's.
He would expect Lucent's arrival sooner or later, but for the time being, Florizel was content to sort and plan for what the two brothers ought to do when the sorting was finished. Maybe they would go get something to eat... Oh, what a day to plan...WC: 235

While usually oblivious to the concerns of others, Lucent had been made recently aware that his family missed him thanks to a surprise visit from his mother, Illuminata. She told him that he ought to take a break, which lined up so irritatingly well with the prescription of getting some TLC from a recent healers trip that he was forced to agree with her. She stayed with him the majority of the day and then insisted that he go visit with his brother, Florizel, soon. They were brothers, for goodness sake, Illuminata had insisted, and it's not like they lived three districts away! So, he relented and his mother said she would stop by Florizel's to inform him that Lucent would be visiting in a day's time. Skip to the next day, where Lucent was walking through the Amethyst District and looking up and down the streets, trying to remember where his brother lived. He caught sight of his brother outside by chance and approached him. They bumped shoulders, exchanged greetings and eventually prompted his brother. "So, what's on the agenda today, Zel?"WC: 183

Florizel smiled when Lucent appeared and guided his brother into his workshop, which looked rather similar to how their mothers set hers up: organized clutter.
"I thought we could work on sorting out scales to see which are worth any, if you're up for it." Florizel replied to his brother's question, leading him over to where the piles lay. "Mother and I found these the other day. I actually bumped into a rather lovely looking Nantlil when I did so. She had stars on her scales." Florizel looked wistful for a moment, before giving a sigh. "What about you, brother? Any worth-while ladies in your edge of the forest?"ABVirus Sorry for such a long wait! sweatdrop WC: 109

Lucent nodded along with his brother's proposal and smiled at the prospect. Finding a spot before the piles of various colored scales, Lucent set at once to work. He became so immediately absorbed in his work that he only barely heard what his brother was saying. He didn't even realize that Zel was awaiting his reply until he caught him staring at Lucent expectantly. "Hm? Oh. No, not really. Well, that's not quite true, I suppose..." He blinked down at the scales under his paws. "Her name was Novalite. I met her briefly in the Prism District. Getting a paw treated for falling asleep at my bench again... Anyway, I bumped into her outside and we set to talking, but the conversation was so stiff..." He paused for a moment, motionless, before his paws began to smooth off one of the scales as he floated it forward to examine it closer. "I won't deny that she was pretty, however. She, too, had stars in her coat. Maybe the Grand Weaver has developed a fondness for the stars recently, hm?" He suggested. One scale floated into a free spot, where it lay gleaming in the grass. That one was a good one. Strong material, constant shine, smooth texture. It would be good for trade, but not good enough for Illuminata's work, for it wasn't as colorful as their mother liked for her pieces. "Sometimes I wonder if I will ever find my other half as easily as our mother did." He confessed with a sigh, before glancing at his brother again. "And what brings all this talk of Nantils up to begin with? Has a lady caught your eye, brother mine?"Lucent WC: 280

Florizel was happy to see his brother so eager to get to the task and amused rather than irritated to find him getting so interested in the work that he nearly didn't seem to notice Florizel speaking to him at all. He was about to patiently repeat himself when Lucent answered him. Hm, maybe he was listening after all.
His ears perked as his brother told him about a Nantil that he had seen and even gotten the name of. His brother never seemed the sort to take interest in anything except his work, but from his brother's description, it seemed the first meeting hadn't gone very smoothly. Oh, well. There were other girls to be found.
"I'm sure you'll find your other half as soon as you're meant to." Florizel replied. "We both will, our sisters too. We just have to be patient." He gave a shrug. "Besides, maybe we've already met them and we simply don't realize it yet." Now that was a thought that often plagued Florizel's mind during the evenings before he slept. He shook himself, trying to dislodge the notion from his mind that moment. He was here to enjoy himself with his brother.
"Oh, yes. The one that I have seen, her name is Celestine. Mother has met her and they seem to get along well, which pleases me to no end." He smiled at the thought. "Oh! Speaking of Mother! Have you heard the good news? I hear their idols have been successfully blessed!" Florizel was grinning from ear to ear. "Now we just have to wait to see if anything takes shape this time. They've only made two, but they're so fetching. Maybe our family was too big for Mother and Father to handle." He chuckled at that, remembering his cub years. He certainly had been a pawful, they all had.Florizel WC: 309

Lucent shrugged at his brother's words. Florizel was always more hopeful than he was when it came to true love. Maybe it was because Zel spent more time around their mother, who had found her match relatively early in on their life. "I suppose. I've heard stories of some b'alam finding their life partners as early as when they were cubs, though they don't realize it until later." Lucent paused to think of whether he had ever interacted with any cubs opposite his gender, save for his siblings, but none came to mind. "Well, anyway, that's not for me to brood over. Not when we have more interesting things at hand to discuss."A scale floated in front of his muzzle as he concentrated, turning it over. "Looks like the owner of this scales got into a fight with someone outside of the Light Tribe. It's unlikely, but maybe... A Fire triber?" He moved it towards Florizel to show him. "I know it's rare to see any Fire Tribe b'alam out here, but I don't know how else those claw marks would gouge into our scales. And I hear tell that there's a dispute within the Fire Tribe occurring? I hope we won't be pulled into it." If they were, that meant that Lucent would be working overtime. He already spent the majority of his day holed up in his workshop, but that didn't mean he wanted to live in it! Besides, for all of his life, Lucent had never seen a war and the notion of it frightened him. Death was such a permanent thing and he didn't know many that had died, if any, he thought. He was becoming so wrapped up in his thoughts once more that he missed his brother's description of the Nantlil that his brother spoke so fondly of, yet when it came to the news on his mother, Lucent dropped the scale he was peering at and looked at Florizel in shock. "They want more? Whatever for?" Nevermind about finding your soul partner, the notion of having cubs was so far from Lucent's mind that he balked at the idea of suddenly having more brothers and sisters.

Florizel nodded along when his brother remarked about the notion of finding their other halves as young as when they were cubs, but he, too, couldn't recall any such Nantil that may have been "the one". "How tragic it would be," He exclaimed suddenly, "If I have met my other half when I was a youth and hadn't realized it yet. Not to say that I'm into older women, but, well... Oh, you know what I mean!" He fumbled.
He was relieved to drop the subject in the interest of doing what he had invited his brother to join him in. He was carefully examining a scale of his own when Lucent moved one in front of him, so he dropped the one he was holding and peered closely at the other. Sure enough, part of it was chipped and there were three long gouges in the scales surface. Florizel shuddered.
"I just hope the former owner of this scale is safe and unharmed. I found it within the Light Tribe, of course, so maybe they returned in time to see one of our healers?" He offered, sounding hopeful. "I've seen some with claws like Fire tribers, who aren't necessarily pure-bred. Mother has spoken of half-breeds she's met on her travels too. Maybe it was one of them that did this damage?"
When Lucent continued to express his wishes that they wouldn't be pulled into the drama with the Fire Tribe, Florizel waved him off. "Of course we won't. Our Magnus will make sure that doesn't happen-They'll protect us." He said confidently. After all, that's what the Magnus were there to do, right? To protect and lead the Light Tribe.
Oh, Weaver, Lucent's reaction to the news was priceless! A hundred polished scales weren't worth the face that his brother gave him. Florizel grinned at his brother and shook his head. "I wouldn't be able to tell you, but aren't you excited? We'll be big brothers now!"Florizel WC: 327
