The room on Celsus's Wonder they had chosen was not, perhaps, the grandest of them all; but it was a beautiful, wide space with a lot of magical sunshine streaming in from the floor to ceiling, mullioned windows. They were lined on either side with heavy cream drapes tied with gold rope, the marble floor echoing as Celsus swept across it, his cape fluttering behind him. A pair of bookshelves stood on the far wall, lined with leatherbound volumes of varying things, and in the opposite corner, a harp and a chair, though both were slightly dusty. It was a lovely room, just large enough to have their small ceremony with its few guests in it without feeling as though the place was empty.

Hitch was standing at the front of the room, by the bookshelves. A marble pillar was behind him, along with all of Celsus's notes for the rest of the afternoon, his speech and his preparation, along with the two ring boxes that were nestled carefully beside his papers. Gold backed chivari chairs with cream colored cushions stood in a small line in front of the podium, just enough for their guests.

The glamour melted away as Celsus made his way towards Hitch, replaced by Fritz's elegant dove gray suit and emerald green tie, which he smoothed down as he reached out to grasp Hitch's arm reassuringly. Rhys was in the room next door, still getting ready.

"Ready?" Fritz asked Hitch lightly, flashing a smile, unsure as to why he felt nervous, because it wasn't as though he was the one getting married. But this was his brother, and this had been a long time coming, and well - it was making him slightly antsy.

It was ******** beautiful. More than he ever could have asked for. Probably because realistically it was more than Logan Hitchcock ever thought he could have deserved. He felt out of place in all this, all these beautiful things, like it was all huge even though honestly it was all the perfect size.

Why shouldn't it feel huge? This was huge. He was getting ******** married here. M-A-R-R-I-E-D. It was to the best person on any planet (because hey life in space was a thing) so that was nothing to worry about, it wasn't anything like cold feet or anything, just -

He actually squeaked when Fritz touched his arm, and then seemed to realized belatedly it wasn't a remotely manly sound and tried to obscure it with a rough clearing of his throat. "I, uh, yeah. ******** yeah. Totally ********' ready." He fidgeted with his collar. It was definitely the right size, right? "I can't smoke here, right?"

Happiest day of his life. So the ******** was there to be nervous about?! It'd been like a year and a half, this was way overdue. There'd just been a purification. And a whole lot of other s**t. And now here they were and didn't it feel like they just got engaged like yesterday?!

"This doesn't like, uh, " he cleared his throat again, speaking in a hushed, rushed whisper, kind of hoping it wouldn't travel far. Even though they were kind of in a small room with all his friends and loved ones kind of there and his whisper was by default more of a stage whisper than an actual one. "The weddin's not off if I ******** up the words or whatever? - we're not like cursed forever or some s**t like that? - there's not a weddin' curse, right??" He should've definitely practiced this more. Even if he had, he should've done it more. There was totally more he should've done. Oh ******** him.

Van's expression in four words:

HITCH WAS GETTING HITCHED.

If it were not for the fact that Hitch and Rhys were the ones getting married, she would have sworn to you that you could not possibly find somebody more excited than she was. Of course Rhys and Hitch were probably more excited, but she was pretty sure that the joy she felt for both of them snuck in at a tight third place.

She smiled everywhere that she walked, and often stopped to stretch her cheeks with her hands, because they were beginning to ache.

"I just can't help it," she'd say to whoever was in earshot, gesturing at Celsus' Wonder, "this is such a beautiful place. And they're so happy. I'M so happy that they're so happy."

Destiny City was a shitty place. They all led busy, complicated lives- but this was going to be a good day; one memory so powerfully happy it could blot out a whole month's worth of the darkness. She wore a simple yellow dress, cut off at the knee. It was modest in the front, but cut a deep vee in the back, baring caramel skin.

While John Jr. did not participate in Vanessa's excited murmuring, he shared in the joy of the occassion, and stood beside her while everyone waited for Rhys. He was dressed in slacks (Van had ironed them for the occasion) and wearing a tie. His clothes fit him well, despite the fact that he was outgrowing the things Vanessa bought him faster than she could bring them home.

Beaming all over, Vanessa tried to catch Hitch's eye, thumbs up in encouragement. She nudged John Jr. with her elbow, who flushed and then put up his thumbs.

Next to him, sitting daintily on the floor with her tail curled close, Ophelia smiled too.

With so small a occasion, there wasn't much left to do other than wait for the appointed time: stand still as a statue, deny self oogling and petting the cat, look longingly at the cat, keep an eye on Hitch to make sure he hadn't started hyperventilating, double-check the location of the rings and the smelling salts, double-check Hitch, wonder about the others presence, wonder about the cat.

Obviously a Mauvian, and has a star one the brow. Belongs to the woman? The young person with her? Not to Celsus or Hitch, I imagine. Surely they would have mentioned if they had a Mauvian I hadn't met.

Celsus-no-Fritz had engaged the poor Mr.NervousWreck, and the latter was going on with a load of nonsense. Quenton was about to add two cents- 'there's no such thing as luck' - but it checked in his mouth.

Maybe there was? Salt, Gardens, Silence, Orchids and more were all among the powers that Senshi had. If there were a senshi of Luck somewhere, was it proof that beings believed in the concept and that gave it power? Or that Luck did, indeed, exist? Instead, he offered in quieted gravel, "There's no time limit saying you have to recite your vows in under thirty seconds. You can take your time and breath. And if you stutter, it isn't bad luck, or going to ruin your marriage. It will probably make him smile, which is no bad thing."

And if you've been living together, and I imagine doing much more without the requirements of wedlock, I imagine you've already done much more 'embarrassing' things in front of him than stumble over a few words. That is impolite for a wedding.

Verona had been invited to the wedding for her best man ever and the fact that he was getting married was just absolutely ******** pretty ******** up. They had been the bachelor squad, they had been a pair. She was really happy for him though, because goddamn it, if anyone deserved some happiness, it was Hitch.

She powered down, to Jarias who was dressed in a crisp tux to match Hitch's and her hair was tied up into a long thick ponytail.

"If you mess it up brother, you can always just loop back around and win him back." She didn't let her gaze travel to Van, with her gorgeous attire and smile. Her heart just ached looking at the woman. Speaking of looping back around....

"Besides, Like Dark and Handsome over here-" She jabbed a thumb at Quenton who she had no idea was but was carried himself very well, "It's probably cute."

Fritz, to his credit, made no mention of Hitch's less-than-gentlemanly squeak, instead reaching out to adjust the lapels of Hitch's tuxedo with careful precision, smoothing down a few wrinkles the way a future brother-in-law might do. It said something that his hands only shook a little bit being in close proximity to another human being.

"No smoking," he said, and gave a laugh, dropping his fingers away once Hitch's tie was straight and the dust was gone. "Calm down. You're getting married, not being thrown off of a building."

He caught Quenton's eye, feeling a marginal sense of relief and calm that the other man was here. He might be here as a friend of Hitch's, but that didn't meant that Fritz couldn't also be pleased to have a friend there as well, considering he wasn't familiar with the others in the room. He was, however, quite happy to hear Vanessa enthusiastically praise the location, Fritz's cheeks coloring ever so slightly with pride - also a feat for him, a small victory.

"Listen to what Quenton says," Fritz said to Hitch as he turned back to him, patting his shoulder genially. "And to Jarias," he added, the latter of whom he'd just met in recent times in preparation for the wedding. He smiled brightly at her. "You're going to be just fine. Now, have everyone sit, and I'll go and fetch Rhys, shall I?"

He gave Hitch another pat for good measure, wiggled his fingers at the rest of the gathered, and slipped out of the room to the room next door.

His brother stood in front of a full length mirror, fidgeting with his sleek black and white suit, looking flushed and nervous and determined and excited all in the same expression. Fritz came up behind him and nudged his shoulder, eliciting a squeak of sound that was uncannily similar to Hitch's.

"Oh. Fritz, is, er...is it...time?" Rhys sounded positively faint. Fritz reached out and grasped his shoulder, giving it a wordless squeeze, then offered him his arm, because there wasn't really anyone else to walk him down the aisle - and besides, this was good enough.

"You look very classy," said Fritz. His heart felt as though it was going to beat out of his chest, his expression trying - and failing - to stay cheery, shifting into one of anxious excitement. "Shall we get you married, Rhys? I think it's about bloody time you guys were hitched."

Hopefully they were all arranged in place now, Hitch at the front, the others seated, the iPod playing the right music. Rhys hesitated, whispered a quiet "Thank you" that was barely audible, took a breath, then slipped a hand through Fritz's arm and let it rest in the crook of his elbow.

"Time to go," said Fritz softly, and pushed out the door.

Hitch caught sight of Van's thumbs and kind of tried to smile back at her, except the smile was weird and awkward and so chock full of nerves that he was sure it was as uncomfortable seeing it as it was doing it, so he just stopped and kind of flailed his hands a little in what he hoped was an apologetic gesture and not anything that was rude in any other culture. All of this was about as subtle and smooth as a brick. Also there was a cat there, and that in itself had made him a little edgy because as much as he appreciated like, actual cats, where mooncats were concerned they usually just shot lasers or tried to get him killed somehow, whether directly or indirectly. But it wasn't like he was going to tell Van no way was she bringing the jinx cat up, and he just had to hope his weird superstition about cats with stars didn't prove him right again.

Then Quenton went ahead and said the thing about making Rhys smile, and that was probably honestly the best thing anyone could've hoped to say just then, a kind of more genuine, not horrifying smile flashing across his face, more hopeful than anything. "You think so?" and part of him knew so, but he could never really take things like that at face value even if he knew he should. It was kind of pathetic, but...

He made a hell of a face as Jarias dropped the 'c' word, crossing his arms stubbornly. "Cute?! Cute my a**! I don't wanna be cute on my weddin' day!" Handsome. Rugged. Dashing. Okay, so he was really none of those things anyway, but 'cute' just wouldn't cut it. He was ready to take some of that nervous energy from the whole wedding and sweep it right into a stupid rant against everything the word 'cute' stood for (even if his fiance was ******** adorable but it just wasn't a word for Hitch) when Fritz stepped in and smoothed that one right out before it ever got started.

This made him nervous, too, even if he'd never admit to it. A little splash of red made its way onto his face and he kind of laughed lowly along with Fritz even if he was being denied precious nicotine. "Yeah, yeah... yeah, you're right an' all, just..." He kind of trailed off and shifted in place, because let's be honest. He wasn't just getting a husband today, which was kind of a mind blowing thing in itself. He was technically getting a brother, like, officially. Even if they'd joked about it and all, he'd never actually had a brother before. Just this whole thing, putting a label to it and all, just...

Fritz was gone and he would be coming back with Rhys and this suit didn't suit him at all, right? What was he trying to prove here exactly? What if things went bad or Rhys realized he honestly deserved so much better and just relax, just relax, ******** YOU, he kind of smoothed down the front of his suit and tried not to look like he wanted to scream and/or vomit, and he was cool and composed and totally not they could definitely all tell, right, oh ******** him... he at least managed to get to the right spot and someone took care of the music and his knees hadn't given out which, hey, that was a plus.

Then the door opened and for a minute he really thought he'd just die on the spot, but he didn't, thankfully, because there they were, and there he was, and it was like a light going on. Amazing how something as simple as Rhys stepping into the room could make him feel so much better, and he just looked so amazing, and -

Hitch took a deep breath. And he smiled, mouthing, 'hey' with a silly little wave of his fingers that was not cute at all.

How Vanessa had been fortunate enough to land herself an invite to this wedding she would never guess. It made sense, of course, because it did - Hitch was her drinking buddy, and they were in a band together. And everybody knew that people who rolled in bands together rolled in life together. She was simply astonished at how lucky she was to get to share in this happiness, and felt reassured in all of the ideas that she had about life.

That the world was mostly good.

That it was possible to find true love, and to be happy. Just because she wasn't any good at relationships didn't mean that relationships weren't any good.

She took hold of John Jr's hand when the door opened and gave it a mighty squeeze, heart flying into her throat, fingers of her free hand pressed to her lips to trap the excited holler in the back of her throat. Because this was about them. She didn't need to attract attention to herself by being loud. The impulse was there. She fought it by holding onto her little brother, who understood, and for once did not make a scene of denying her affection.

Taller than Vanessa now by several inches, and broader in the shoulders, John Jr did make a point of putting himself between her and Jarias' site line. If it bothered Van she did not show it, though he was certain she had noticed. He did not care.

Vanessa wanted to reassure Hitch that he wasn't cute at all. He was so rugged and so handsome, and deserved to feel as he wished to feel on this day of all days. But she held her breath, and reminded herself to make sure to tell him at the after party.

"... Do you think there's going to be an after party?" she whispered at John Jr out of the corner of her mouth.

"Shhh," Ophelia hushed them both before John Jr could respond, though the look that she shot their way was not sharp. She sat dutifully, petite in her beads, and tried not to pay too much mind to the way that the Senshi of Gardens kept looking and then not looking at her.

Thraen she had heard him called.

"I hope there's an after party," Vanessa continued in a murmur, "oh my gosh this is just so perfect. I feel like my face is going to explode."

There was a wolf whistle at the edge of her finger tips. She decided to leave it wait for the big kiss.

Dark and Handsome? The latter is well enough, but ‘Blondie’ is the more usual. Dark can be scowling, or stoic non-expression. ‘RBF’ as the term goes, I suppose. I don’t know the name back...we should have taken care of quick introductions while we were herding Hitch through the ropes. It can wait until later. Primarily two names matter today, and we all know them to properly declare consent. If that is part of the ceremony? I didn’t check with Celsus if it was in his plan to do so…
Maybe not. I suppose that would be too specifically Episcopal. Or Anglican. I don’t think Celsus is a man of either, or Hitch. I don’t know anything about his Rhys to guess-

Celsus gave the pertinent name, Jarias, and saved at least one guess. The other dashing youths next to each other and the Mauvian remained for later. The door may have opened, and attention was supposed to go to entering groom, but the sculptor kept his own eyes dutifully on Hitch’s color and posture in case it started to look like he would swoon. First sight could have that effect under stress.

Are they doing a Honeymoon/First Night affair? The wedding already at Celsus...the stars are the literal limit. Or unlimit. Packing....transportation to get places....usually these things would have been covertly decorated in colored paper or silly string by the wedding party. And extra supplies slipped in. We're slacking.
