Name: Ayd'n
Age: 19
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homoflexible (considers himself homosexual, but is open to relationships with the opposite sex).
At this point, he is actually IC'ly unsure/unaware of his eventual orientation. He hasn't had a lot of time to think about romance - having become a Harper Apprentice at a young age, then a Candidate, then very quickly a Rider. And though he has experimented with others of both sexes, he hasn't thought beyond 'this feels good right now' to any kind of permanent romantic attachments. His Green has participated in at least one Flight most likely, but this also didn't lead to anything long-term.
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Searchrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Harper -- singer
Physical Description:
Skin Tone: Very slightly tanned
Body Type: Ayd'n is a bit on the thinner side for his age, but not unhealthily so
Eyes: Dark green
Hair: Brunette, slightly curled. Falls to almost the middle of his back, he usually pulls it back into a loose ponytail to keep it out of his way
Personality: Ayd'n has always been the more outgoing of the two brothers, quick to find and make friends - and usually the leader in a group. He's well-liked by most people that he meets and he knows this. He doesn't usually use it to manipulate people, but he's not above accepting whatever may come from that liking. He is endlessly curious about the world around him, always asking questions and wanting to know more about whatever subject catches his attention. Most of his negative traits are not as readily apparent, except for being loud. This can be fun at a party or while out on the town ... but not so much when he's just talking to one person or a smaller group. He doesn't realize his volume going up and up the more excited he gets about something. He also tends to forget random tasks he should be doing - though Selynth helps with that - and sometimes people's names, what they like or don't like and so on. He's quick to apologize for this and usually is forgiven, but it can definitely get annoying. His personal areas tend to be quite messy - he usually claims he doesn't have a lot of time to clean up. But probably it's just a bit of laziness....
Positive Trait List Adaptable, Curious, Personable
Negative Trait List Forgetful, Messy, Loud
History: Aydin and his twin brother Kadri grew up in Tillek Hold. Their family wasn't incredibly poor, but neither were they extremely rich. The boys dreams growing up were of being sailors or pirates more than Riders - as those professions were things talked about more often in such a large port city. Of course, being a pirate was being a "bad guy", but such things are often attractive to young children. They tended to switch roles in their games, not really caring who was the hero and who was the defeated enemy. As he got older, Aydin started to become more interested in the Harpers. He had grown up listening to a Harper that played regularly at a nearby inn - where the boys often went to try and beg sweets.

After one ill-advised day when the twins decided to "borrow" a boat, Aydin decided that the sea-faring life wasn't for him and instead tried to gain the Harper's attention - figuring that such a career would offer just as much or maybe even more adventure. It turned out that he was a good enough singer that the Harper agreed to mentor him, and Aydin became a Harper's Apprentice at 10 years old.

He spent several years both in the Harper Hall and then traveling with the same Harper who brought him in. During one of their trips, he was Searched and asked if he wanted to stand as a Candidate in High Reaches. The Rider who found him expected him to refuse - as he already had a stable career - but Aydin surprised her by saying yes. He figured that he would go and stand for a few clutches, just to see what might happen - and if nothing did (which he thought likely), he could just easily go back to the Harper life.

But it was his turn to be surprised when he Impressed a tiny Green dragon in the very first clutch that he stood for, and fell in love with her completely. The work in the Weyr was a bit harder than in Harper Hall, but the soulmate that he had found in Selynth made every moment worth it.

Over the three years he's been at the Weyr, he has continued his Harper training, hoping to still move up in the ranks.

Other:
Favorite food: Eggs
Least favorite food: Potatoes
Favorite time of day: Late afternoon, when the sun is just starting to go down and turns everything golden colored
Least favorite time of day: Super early morning, when it's still dark outside
Flits: Rydin; Green (conversion needed)

DRAGON
Name: Selynth
Age: 3
Color: Green
Size: 22'
Physical Description: Light spring green, with paler green underbelly, toes, and wing-webbing
Personality: Usually calm and level-headed, she is a good match for her more fiery, outgoing Rider. She's good at keeping him on track for things he should be doing and reminding him of anything he's forgotten - if she's paying attention. There are times her mind tends to wander but eventually she'll always turn her attention back to Ayd'n.

(( Whoan and I traded dragons from our starter packs since I wanted a Green for Ayd'n, so she was originally Whoan's))

Hey Manda!

So you're pretty much approved except for one small thing. You have him becoming a Journeyman at 16 which is awfully young. I do have in the Character Creation Rules this little line that I don't strictly enforce.

Quote:
Journeymen: They must be at last 20 turns, minimum, if not older. For many on Pern this is as far as they'll advance their skills. Not everyone goes on to become a Master. That said, there is no age maximum on who can become a Journeyman.

I haven't been strict when it comes to enforcing it -- I have let folks who are 18 and 19 become Journeymen, but 16 just seems a bit too young. It was a shock when Menolly walked the tables and I think she was around that age. I get he started at 10, which is the minimum age of apprenticeship in our canon, but that's a common age to begin a craft on Pern.

If you could tweak his history so he either gets his Journeymanship a few Turns later, or after Impression, that would work out a lot better.

Otherwise everything looks all right!
