        Unfortunately, a threat has washed over Below in a wave. While we know little about it currently, the Meta will reveal information important for RP and understanding what has happened to your character.

        Not much has been revealed about the pure infected who corrupted the characters in the META. More Information will be released as time progresses!

        The Queen:
        The Queen is the mysterious leader of the infected. Nothing is known about her origin at this time. Infected characters feel an overwhelming sense of loyalty and adoration for her. What this entails varies from person to person, but The Queen is the home they have all been seeking. A safe place in the terrifying world they have come to hate since their transformation. She controls them absolutely, as no infected character is able to disobey her commands under any circumstance. Simply being in her presence calms their uncontrollable anger, at least temporarily.

        While she is around, bitten characters begin to fall ill quicker.

        Characters bitten by the pure infected will eventually turn into corrupted. Information specific to non-pure corrupted characters can be found here. Everyone that required biting to turn are non-pure.

        Bitten:
        To turn, a character must be bitten by a pure corrupted. Once bitten, the character will start to feel physically drained and gradually grow nauseous over a few hours. While each person is usually different, if they are in the presence or near The Queen of the corrupted it will speed the process up rapidly.


        The original wound will grow black right before the bitten character faints. During the time they are knocked unconscious, the wound begins to spread, black vein markings traveling from the original wound. Black vein markings can begin to appear elsewhere, too.

        Dream:
        Every infected character has a dream while they are unconscious. Their dream reflects what they are most afraid of, and torments them with images of it. The feeling of the dream is a deep and heavy weight pulling down on the character, overwhelming them. Near the end, the dream will shift as the pressure rapidly vanishes, and the character will feel that the person who will truly love and protect them is nearby. It is that feeling that will snap them from their dream.

        Appearance:
        Once awoken, characters will change drastically. Their wounds will be pure black with vein markings spreading, and other parts of their bodies will display the markings. Their eyes will turn a solid black with singular glowing red orbs replacing where their pupils were. Most will hold a wild and violent demeanor.

        Temperament:
        There are only two things that matter to an infected; the need to eat and the leader of the corrupted.

        The infected are violent, personality completely warping. What they fear the most motivates their violence, and so each infected acts differently. Someone who used to be shy and feared people can turn into an infected who attacks anyone in their line of sight due to an intense hatred towards others. Someone who was afraid of losing friends and family might attack those they used to love due to thinking they will or have already abandoned them.

        The infected are unable to feel anything but hunger and a need to kill non-infected when around those not like them. That means they will turn on siblings, partners, kids, etc. They cannot stop this, they cannot fight it. It is a natural instinct.

        The infected primarily want to consume flesh, however they also enjoy just maiming those around them. When hungry, they tend to lose their senses and lunge at anything that provokes them. When not, they can rationalize more and actually, with thought, attack others with a plan.

        The infected do not see one another as a source of food. While infected do grow irritable at times with other infected, they also see one another as family, of sorts. Around their own kind they can act calmer, and even kindly. The leader of the infected, The Queen, is unable to be defied. The infected work in a hivemind almost, following any order the leader gives and, in their own way, adoring the leader.

        Motivation:
        Every infected has a motivation behind their violent energy. The dream will hint at it, usually. Whatever frightened them the most will become the main focus behind their violence. While characters lose themselves in their anger and warp into almost a completely different person, fragments of who they were will linger. Overly happy characters can become childlike in nature when infected, often laughing when they inflict wounds and finding it a game.

        It is up to the player what their character is motivated by.

        Cure:
        If there is a cure it is unknown as of now.
