Lyxander wasn’t sure he felt comfortable putting the city he lived in online. There was a difference in telling his friends such in confidence, but actually confirming rumors was a bit uncomfortable for him. So when he was asked, point blank, by a friend during a livestream, he accidentally let it slip that he lived in Destiny City. His subscribers had mixed responses, of course, but it wasn’t too bad— His wiki page was updated the moment he said so, however, so that made things a little.... awkward. Closing the recording window on his computer, Lyxander decided to slide over to tumblr, where never-ending pages of content would be enough for him to procrastinate with. (He hoped.)

Amaris would have let it slip, honestly, but like -- who lived in Destiny City? (Besides a load of people? It was a pretty big place, to be fair, and a lot of people lived there. But they were all just people not Capital P People, which made all the difference.) It wasn't like he was the most popular livestreamer out there, but she'd always found the guy's voice pretty calming, and maybe they could crosspromote? She liked getting new followers. It was a great way to make herself watch really, really shitty anime.

One, two -- and the ask was sent! 'Hey there : P I heard you live in Destiny City? I do a lot of liveblogs over here but I'm a DC native too, was wondering if you'd like to meet up sometime! No biggie if you don't, yr a busy guy~' (Her icon wasn't a selfie this time of year, but it was a chibified her in a santa hat, which was close enough to 'selfie' for her to feel validated about it.)

Lyx was only slightly startled when he opened his tumblr to find a message waiting in his inbox. It was an innocent message, and he’d only heard of her from the friend of a friend of a friend who seemed very into liveblogs and followed said personality. Reading it over, and over, and over again, Lyx hesitated before clicking the little reply button and drumming up a response. ‘hey to you too. yeah, that sounds cool. i’ll just have to find some time. when are you free?’

'basically whenever!! im 100% totes free on weekends (ↀДↀ)✧ would destiny city mall be good? if it's fine i can 100% come up with some sort of identifying mark~' Amaris typed, very precisely clicking the button that'd send her response on its' way. Outwardly she was calm and composed (or about as much of either of those as she ever got), but inwardly? Inwardly she was flipping about 30% of her s**t. ( Only 30%.) But it was some top-quality flips -- it was gourmet chef frying pan flips.

‘yeah, that’s chill.’ Lyxander typed back, pressing enter before he meant to send his message. He fumbled, fingers flying on the keyboard— ‘sorry, pressed enter too fast. yeah, destiny city mall, i’ll be wearing a…’

It took a bit of effort to think of what he’d wear. ‘pokemon trainer baseball hat. not the most unique thing out there, but it works. where should i find you?’ It was a little nerve wracking, but it wouldn’t hurt to have an online friend in real life, even if they weren’t from the same groups. It was publicity, after all.

'i've got selfies on my blog! ^ↀᴥↀ^ i think im pretty recognizable lol. but i'll be wearing a hamilton tee and super sparkly boots!! 5 pm ok?' That was easy -- it was what she wore every day, just mildly more outstanding. (The glitter boots needed to be worn out more, anyways. She'd gotten those in a giveaway and then just...never had an excuse to wear them, ever, because they deserved special occasions and she kept meaning to paste wings onto them.) 'if it's fine I'm gonna be in the food court!'

Tabbing over to her blog, Lyx scrolled over a few pictures before tabbing back to the message. He wrinkled his nose at the sparkly boots, but he supposed they were so he could see her? ‘i don’t really put pictures online, but here.’ Placing a link to a fairly recent photo from a con, Lyxander continued. ‘yeah sure. i’ll pick up some taco bell while im there, then. see you there’ Lyxander set up a reminder on his phone, so that he didn’t forget to head over eventually.

Amaris was sitting all nice and primly as the Lady of the Hour, one glittering and sparkling ankle folded over the other, but the aesthetic got ruined when she had an entire bag of french fries to her right and a half-eaten cheeseburger to her left -- she was a growing girl, okay (no she wasn't, she'd stopped growing at sixteen or even before), and a girl had needs. Lyx would show up eventually -- it wasn't like her boots weren't colorful enough to ever let her be missed.

If they were, she was going to have some serious words. Maybe with herself in the mirror.

Lyxander had picked up a two burritos and a large sprite from Taco Bell, casually walking around the food court with it in hand and slurping on his sprite while he looked. He felt a little creepy, looking at girls so attentively— His friends would be sure to tease him if they'd been around. He adjusted his cap, picking through the crowd and analyzing the shoes of each female before finally landing on glittery boots that made him wince. He looked up. That was definitely her. Suddenly he felt self conscious.

Maybe he could pass it off, say he was sick that day and couldn't go? He'd never met an online friend in real life, and it scared him some. But no, he was already there, and she seemed ready and raring to meet. He only hoped she wouldn't ask for a selfie— He wasn't too keen on having his face revealed to the public yet, hopefully she'd understand that. Slowly making his way to her table, he swallowed unsurely before taking deep breaths and finally arriving. "H-hey," He mumbled, lifting his cap slightly. "Um. Are you amaryllisreads?" He asked, feeling unsure but seeing the Hamilton tee eased some of his doubts.

"Hey, yeah, that's me!" Amaris cocked her head towards him with a grin, gesturing for him to sit. "Sit, sit -- it looks awful if I make you stand the entire time, yeah? And I'd ask for your name, but I got a feeling you aren't super down to do an IRL reveal. That's cool. Unless - " she pondered, putting her hand to her chin - "unless you're a fan of mine or something or you hate my blog, in which case this is totally awkward -- and I have a really cool rock in my purse that's about all I can bribe with, you like rocks, everyone likes rocks. But anyways, sit. Yeah, I'm amaryllisreads -- just call me Ammy." Her smile was charming in a rogueish sort of way, if a little practiced.

Lyxander felt awkward. He wasn’t used to talking to people in real life, especially people so….. Friendly. Lyxander rubbed his neck. “Uh, well.” He slid into a chair, slightly overwhelmed. “I mean. It’s alright. As long as you don’t say my name in public or to your friends, I guess. I’d be trusting you with that.” He averted his eyes, looking at the table blankly before adjusting his baseball cap and looking back up at her. “Sorry, I’m… not used to this. Never met someone online before. I’m Felden100, but uh, I guess just call me Fel or something. I’ve actually only seen your blog in passing, no offense, my but online friend loves your blog. She’d kill to meet you, haha.” He looked a little more relaxed, but then tensed after laughing. He shrinked some. “Yeah."

Amaris took a breath - leaned back - cracked her knuckles. When she spoke again, she was quieter. "Sorry about comin' on a little strong there, Fel. It's kinda tradition with some friends of mine - but we're not that close, obviously - so sometimes I just forget to turn it off." It was like a dial had been turned down: gone was the over-exaggerated energy, restrained into a lazy flexibility that spoke of practice and practice and practice to keep it reasonable and friendly. "So: walk and talk, or sit here and chat?"

Lyxander relaxed. Was he that transparent? “Nah, you’re fine. I’m just easy to startle, hah.” He released a breathless sigh and sagged in his chair some, brushing some of his hair out of his face before offering her a half smile. She was conscious of others, he appreciated that. He played with the zipper of his jacket some before opening his mouth, closing it, and releasing a small ‘hmm.’ “I think maybe both, but uh…” He placed his food down in front of him, carefully unwrapping a burrito— “Eat and meet sounds more appealing to me.” He stifled a chuckle at his own small joke. “…Do you happen to play any video games?”

"I contemplated speedrunning things once," Amaris said carelessly, her volume maintained at low, "but competition ain't my speed. So, y'know, I'm a spooky casual gamer." She shrugged, then, twice quickly. "But honestly, I'll play just about anything long as it has cute girls in it? Or cute boys, I'm not picky."

She leaned across the table, eyes gleaming. "You tell me your favorites and I can cross-reference. That sound good? That sounds good to me."

It was a good way to start - and keep - talking, regardless of what it might seem like to an outsider.
