Morpheus didn't care how silly he looked.
As the lone Dark Mirror Senshi within the café, Morpheus' clothes contrasted overwhelmingly with the general populace. Most dressed in puffy coats, flannels, knitted caps and scarves while he sat about in silk fabrics and draping, translucent overlays. He sported a veritable tiara across his forehead, adding to the general lunacy in his attire. He knew full well he stood out, as did the barista who gave him a long once-over before deciding to serve him. But now, after much inward sweating, he held a warm cup of coffee in his hands and sat at a warm booth while he stared out at the winter wasteland. This, he decided, was a far better plan than camping icy rooftops and waiting for his wraith to finish its business.
As far as he learned, the wraiths thought nothing of the cold. So, when he watched it dart betwixt a cluster of children on the nearby playground, Morpheus knew it wasn't about to slow down due to chill. The wraith would wind smoothly through their unwitting forms and collect what it could, returning to him at the same pace as when it left.
Kids were good sports when it came to being victims - they usually never noticed anything, and when they did, they ran screaming to their parents. He never worried about a child screwing his wraith's day, nor did he worry about adults believing stories of shadowy apparitions chasing their kids down. Well, they might in this political climate, but Morpheus doubted it. Besides, the little brats sported enough energy to fill his wraith in a good dozen swipes or so. Even less, he found, if they got ice cream beforehand.
But Morpheus soon felt a dark similarity on the horizon, and immediately clammed up with embarrassment. What if this kin found him lounging in a coffee shop while his wraith went about doing the hard work? Or made fun of him for his distaste for cold? They could totally bust his badass exterior by divulging his taste in specialty coffees, too. Morpheus stood with a start, then dashed for the door without heed of the fellow customers. By the time he reached the outside air, the chill struck him to his core.
He was starting to think that this person busting him for his lazy draining techniques was a better alternative than freezing to death on the spot.

So far the day had been a overall, fairly quiet one. A few family appearances in which she had caused her step mother a grave embarrassment. A personal scolding on how a lady should not call out her host on misconduct had resulted in her sassing the woman for attempting to dress like a snow queen in this weather. Lately Laverna had been hearing it more and more. How she was 'changing'. How she was 'not the same person any more.' Oh if only she could tell them that this...this woman who walked in the night was who their daughter really was. Until then though, she saw them off to bed early. No need for them to raise a fuss when they found her room empty. The streets however, were no such thing. Life was everywhere and even in her attire, she felt alive. The cold shook her but Laverna kept moving. Off and on she would take off running and end up in a small gymnastic flipping route to keep her blood going. That was how she picked up the sense of someone else. That sense led her to a coffee shop which she was just heading towards the door when a male came bolting out. "Oh? Good evening." She cooed, turning to follow him. Laverna knew her mask made it hard for someone to see her face but she hoped he could hear her amusement in her voice. "Something startle you?"

Morpheus found it quite disconcerting to nearly slam his face into the senshi he was maybe trying to impressed. He recovered as quickly as he could, however, and covertly signaled for his wraith to return. "Uh no," he responded, eyes still wide, "nothin' startles me. I'm just… Surprised, or somethin'. Not like there's a whole 'lotta us around, you dig? I met like three of us ever, and then everyone else. Like the White Moon senshi and s**t. It's just weird." Yeah, that sounded believable. Running across his own ilk was weird.
The wraith returned, albeit lacking the subtlety he hoped for. The creature slipped into the mirror shard while mostly full, and Morpheus affixed it to his belt in hopes that Laverna might not make a comment on his chosen draining victims. The kids still played, anyway, and their parents would probably thank him if they knew. "I was just getting done with my quota, like I'm supposed to. You know, usual s**t. What brought you out here? Checkin' for new allies?" Of the three he met, he seldom saw Ptolemaeus or Romulus often; he imagined they were busy with their own lives, or had their own partners. Maybe this senshi was out looking for more of the same.
If she planned to have a chat, Morpheus wanted a less conspicuous location for it than the front of a coffee shop. Cutting through one of the feeder alleys into the distribution area guaranteed plenty of space and enough privacy to talk without interruption from the constant kids outside, or any café-goers. As he wove thorugh the cluttered area, he picked a brick wall to lean against, as he figured impressive guys leaned against walls.
Yes, this seemed sound.

There was a hint of a smile over her masked mouth as she listened to him ramble. Trying to cover his reaction was cute. But he did have a point. "A sad truth that there appears to not be a larger number of us. Just means we have to be even more out there!" The slip of the shard made Laverna shift her gaze back around them. She was sure he wasn't collecting in the cafe but if not where? And that was when she turned and took note of the playground. "Well well well." Laverna felt her smile slip into a smirk as she raised a hand to rest on the side of her face. "Aren't you a creative little devil." Turning so her eyes back on the male, there was clearly a glee in her face. "So, children?"

Morpheus' eyes widened as he was taken aback by her optimism. Damn, she's good at lookin' on the bright side of this s**t. Morpheus wished he was able to do so (and believe it) for himself. He guessed she meant in part that they needed to make their presence more known, and they needed to recruit more senshi into their folds. Morpheus knew nothing of how to do that, but he supposed he didn't have to when the whole point of his existence currently was draining energy for the Court. auging Laverna's signature, he could say the same for her.
But Laverna wasn't oblivious; Morpheus flushed red when she took notice of his draining tactics and called them out for inspection. He offered a halfassed shrug and tried to play the whole notion off as no big deal. "I mean, I'm doin' their parents a favor, yanno? Kids are allways runnin' around like little hellions on dope anyway. They got some energy to spare, and it's not like they get listened to when they freak out about some ghost goin' right through 'em. Why not get into that and enjoy some coffee while the wraith does the work, you know?" He wished desperately that his face would calm its s**t so she could continue taking him seriously. The fastest way to blow his chances with a girl was to blush like he got caught peeing in his mom's rose bushes or something. Blushing was exactly the opposite of badass.
And Morpheus wanted to look badass. Well, he tried anyway. The tunic and stupid overlay s**t didn't help.
"Why, you got a better idea? Cuz I'm all ears for makin' this draining s**t easier." He hoped that, by shifting the subject subtly, they might get off his groove and onto hers. She was pretty hot, and the face mask thing had kind of a sexy assassin allure to it. If he could get more information on her, then maybe he could work on how he came off.
