Once he was Lucien again and he had Sumi settled he stepped out of the alley to wait on Arin. He took a deep breath, air leaving him in a puff of cold fog, as the proper temperature finally settled back around him. He hadn't felt it as much as Arsinoe but now it was down right freezing. "God you'd think I'd be used to the cold by now." He stuffed his hands into his coat pockets to try to keep them warm. "Come on, there's still two blocks and I'm going to turn into a popsicle."

"I'm right behind you." He hadn't exactly prepared himself for spending time outside and was just as eager to be out of the weather. Despite a bit of anxiousness, he was looking forward to getting to spend time catching up with Lucien without either of the mother hens lingering around-- Not that he didn't appreciate their concern, but if either he or Luc had any issues with one another, or the way things had happened, it would be better if they got to talk them out amongst themselves.

"Maybe I should have let you keep hold of Sumi. He'd probably keep you warmer than that coat." It looked like when Arin had gone out he hadn't expected to be outside much in the clothes he was wearing. "Someone forget to check the weather before they left the house?" He raised a brow slightly as he headed back toward his flat expecting Arin to follow.

"I've got a little bit more meat on my bones than you do. I'll be fine if it's just a brisk walk back to your place." He nodded, giving Lucien a gentle nudge as they continued onward. "Besides, you might be able to keep him a bit warmer. I don't know if he gets any of the special protection against the elements that we get when we've... Got our armor on."

"Even if he doesn't he's also fuzzy so there's that." It was why his favorite winter coat had a fuzzy collar. He hadn't worn that one out that evening since it wasn't snowing but it did wonders to keep his neck and ears warm. "Also thanks for the reminder that I'm still incapable of putting on muscle." "Lucien usually holds me anyway even if I can stay warm." The kitten pipped up. "My feet get cold and I'm not putting on those weird cat shoes."

"That's not exactly true and I'm sure you know it. You're not as scrawny as you were when we were teens-- Not that you were really even scrawny then. You've just got a different kind of muscle build. There's nothing wrong with that." He elbowed the other man lightly, giving him a gentle nudge. "So you moved back to Destiny City and you got a cat."

"Trust me. I'm still mostly just bone and gristle." He smirked slightly as he shook his head. "Promise that the clothes are deceiving. I'm still just as boney and lanky as I was then, because we all know I was. I just put on a bit of fat." Mostly because he'd been eating heavier foods but none of it was really muscle. Not that he counted anyway. He did laugh a bit at the second comment. "Something like that. The cat found me though so I'm not sure that he didn't get me. That's pretty much how it's gone so far though."

"Taking it that the Carden men are a more the 'tall, lean' sort than the Carden women, then? Or does Cordy take more after her mother?" He knew that he had met Mrs Carden before, but what she looked like was in a part of his memory that was still a blur-- Faded, but not completely forgotten. "You'd left for school... I take it that if you're back that means you graduated, then? And not that you came back because Cordelia told you about..." He made a gesture with his hand, trying to find a way to sum up everything without having the words to do so.

"She takes after her mom." He nodded. "everyone else is more like me though the men seem to get it worse. Putting that down to basic biology." Women usually had more meant on them anyway. "All the pictures I've seen of various family members have most of us being skin and bones unless it's from Cordy's mom's side of everything." Sometimes there was no overcoming biology either which was probably why no matter what he did he couldn't really put on muscle. "I graduated." He nodded after a moment. "I didn't find out about all of the stuff until I was on the plane back home. Cordy had asked me to come back without telling me why and I thought something had happened to her parents."

The conversation between them served as a decent enough distraction from the cold, but it was slowly starting to catch up with him. Arin crossed his arms over his chest after rubbing his hands together, silently hoping they could pick up the pace a little. "Sorry about that-- That you thought something had happened to her parents. I know that, from what she's told me, she's distanced herself from them so that nothing does happen. I... Don't know if that's a good thing or not." He shook his head slowly.

"Losing your parents isn't something anyone wants to do." He knew from experience. That was something he never wanted Cordy to have to deal with so he was in agreement distancing herself was for the best. Even if it probably didn't feel like it. They were finally at his building though and he headed past the small gate up toward the door. "In here. Will be warmer once we're inside and then it's just up the elevator."

"Your parents, no. Your parents were good people, Luc. They raised a good son. My parents?" He snorted, shaking his head slowly as he brushed his fingers back through his hair. "Haven't seen my father in years-- Probably since highschool, and god knows even then it was just when I was being a delinquent." He followed after Luc, tucking his hands into his pockets. "Thanks... For inviting me up and all. I was hoping to get a chance to talk to you without Fi and Cordy trying to mother hen the hell out of us. Not that it isn't appreciated, but..."

"On that end there's also the fact that some parents suck at it and you're under no obligation to like or love them." He put his code into the door so they could head inside and once he was in held the door open for Arin. "I'm up on the fourth floor if you want to grab the elevator." He wanted to check the mailbox real quick since they were down there and figured the other man could at least get the elevator to come down while he did. "The mother hening was probably trying to make sure I didn't do anything and less about you."

He looked over to Lucien for a moment before nodding, turning on his heel to head over to the elevator. He hit the 'up' button, leaning back alongside the wall by the elevator as he waited for it to arrive. A small part of him felt like he should be nervous, or at least vaguely concerned over why either Fiona or Cordelia would have worried about reintroducing him to Lucien. He silenced that easily with the knowledge that if the other was going to try anything it would have happened already. He certainly wouldn't have invited him upstairs.

He checked his mail, throwing out a couple pieces of junk, before heading over to the elevator just as it chimed and the doors open. They both slid into the elevator and he pressed the button for his floor. Sumi hopped off his shoulder and sat down between them after stretching. Since they were in the building and the floor wasn't as cold the kitten didn't feel as bad walking himself the rest of the way back to the apartment.
