 So he was a Viking...
She had a lot of revelations to mull over as she made her way back to safety and onwards to home. She hadn't anticipated that she would stumble upon him, it had never really been her aim to bother him in the first place, and yet fate had a way of disagreeing with her. Rather than let her get hurt, it had instead tossed her in the path of someone she knew and someone who would ultimately keep her safe despite where he came from.
Still, eventually Rag had persuaded (or rather shooed her) towards the borders again and she now found herself wandering along the right path towards home. It was probably for the best that she had gone, after all, the lioness wasn't really suited to being one of those cruel creatures was she? Or worse yet, she might have ended up as a slave. In hindsight she probably should have given him a proper goodbye before she had taken her leave but it seemed easier this way.
...Thusly she made her way home, fully expecting to have a largely uneventful trip back. The roguelands were big after all, and the likelihood of stumbling across someone she knew would be slim to none unless they were deliberately looking for her.Words: 217

He'd seen them, if only from a distance... He'd watched as the scene had unfolded and then merely raised a brow as the lioness had departed again. Rag had been on a series of conquests himself and Tethys had surmised that perhaps she was merely a messenger. Either that, or she was yet another female with more off his offspring. Tethys may have slept with plenty of females but he had yet to cause an overflow of his own blood in the Stormborn...
Ah, but they always did enjoy the bad boys didn't they?
He'd followed after her soon after, not so much because he was seeking gossip so much as he wanted to request her assistance. If she was heading in that particular direction and she happened to be that particular colour, then he could make use of her. She'd most likely encounter weird instances, strange activities and so on that others might now. While she may not be able to report back directly he could have others tail her and then 'pretend' they were just there to collect any information she might have.
...As a side benefit she wouldn't get herself hurt, or this was how it worked in theory.
No sooner had he begun to follow her however than he noticed something was a little off...Words: 219

She'd encountered this feeling before; it had been years ago... Or it felt like it had been years ago. It had been the very same feeling that she had experienced when she had thought that other lion had been following her. If that was the case, then that meant... She paused abruptly and turned round. She remembered her previous conversation and how the lion had chastised her for being so foolhardy. All in all it had been a nice day, he'd accompanied her a fair amount of the way before they had separated at a pass.
For a brief moment, she thought she was looking right at him again.
Except she wasn't; when her vision settled she took note that the lion before her did bear a striking resemblance but he wasn't freckled and had decidedly less colour. A relation perhaps? She raised a brow and instead of headbutting him as she had done with the other, she waited patiently for him to close the gap and then tilted her head to the side.
"You know it's rude to creep up on people," she pointed out mildly and pursed her lips. "Are you following me or just passing by?" she asked, electing to take yet more of the lessons from her previous encounter. She could always headbutt him and run later!Words: 221

She'd seen him without even looking? He had the decency to look impressed and filed that little factoid away for later use. It seemed that like Arina this lioness possessed the innate ability to feel what was around her. She didn't appear to have been taught how to either, she didn't give off the vibe of a warrior, and thus she just had a natural disposition towards it. It would be something he might ask for help with (again) at a later date, but for now he simply appreciated that he had encountered another with the ability.
More interestingly, she didn't seem all that concerned by him. Oh she was certainly guarded, but she didn't seem frightened. She was regarding him with a healthy dose of concern that he wished quite a few animals would consider. Not that he was out to cause harm to her, but some were just too welcoming of strangers...
"You're right it is," he agreed and cleared his throat. "Actually I couldn't help but notice you were headed in a particular direction and I was wondering if I could ask a favour of you..." he began slowly. He was greeted with an understandably suspicious gaze and he couldn't help but laugh. He might not know who she was, but he quite liked this one...He'd have to find her another time.
"I just need to ask you if you would mind looking out for anything strange on your way back - I'll have someone swing by to find out later if you experienced anything," he held up his paw before she could speak and smiled. "You don't ave to do anything more than that, just...head wherever you're going and if anything feels weird try to remember where it was so that my contacts can take a look -"
He paused.
"We're currently looking for a few individuals and the more information we gather, the easier it will be," he explained. "You won't come to any harm, it's more of an observational, enjoy the scenery type of thing," he clarified.
"Not too hard," he finished and then shook his head. "I should probably add that my name is Tethys and I happen to be a part of this particular pride," he raised a brow as another expression appeared on her features. "What...?"Words: 383

"If you're asking me to look for escaped thralls or potential vulnerable prides, I'm not doing it," Tala replied coolly. Rag had already told her about some aspects of the pride, he'd practically thrown her out of the pride boundaries to keep her safe. If this lion genuinely believed she was going to help him fill their coffers more then he was going to find himself swiftly corrected. However his bemused expression seemed to indicate that this hadn't been his intention - was he seriously just asking her to keep an eye out for anything 'weird'.
The definition of weird was very subjective.
Ah, but maybe that was the point?
"What kind of weird are we talking about here?" she said finally and took a seat, she might as well make herself comfortable while she grappled with what the lion was asking. She assumed that while she was in his company she would remain safe, so even if another passing slaver found them, she wouldn't be hauled away. That, and she had a niggling suspicion she'd met one of his relatives before.
"You look awfully familiar by the way," she added.Words: 190 Total Words (Tala): 628

"Really?" he paused. He knew he'd never met her before himself but perhaps she might have encountered his father? It wasn't outside the realms of possibility and he had inherited his father's facial features. "Maybe you've met my father," he said after a moment and smiled. "Big guy, freckles, goes by the name Destati?" he added. Her widened eyes seemed to indicate this was who she had encountered, though he did have to wonder how long ago that might have been!
"I hope he was on his best behaviour," he said with mild amusement and then cleared his throat. He wouldn't waste too much of her time as it probably was in her best interests to be on her way fairly soon; thus he began to explain what his requirements for 'weird' were. It sounded like something out of a fairy tail and her expression seemed to say as much, but these were the details he required.
...Hopefully she'd pull through.Words: 161 Total Words (Tethys): 763
