Being more social, or rather, meeting up with people who existed in this day and age, was therapeutic for Kallichore. Since investing so much time in cultivating and understanding the precious life and society on the moon for which she is named, it became clear she was missing out on the current events in Destiny City. Nephthys served as a gateway to “catching up”, as it were. The two had agreed to meet near the park, the first place they’d met, for training up on the tiny moon of Jupiter. With a more temperate climate, training would not suddenly become ice skating!

It would be an excellent escape from the biting cold of winter.

Upon Nephthys’ arrival, Kallichore gave a short, shallow bow; something she had learned from watching her past self interact with the denizens of the moon. The wind was bitterly cold here, whipping cruelly through the trees and bringing white flurries with it. Kallichore frowned, longing for the milder weather of her moon. “Shall we?”

Extending her hand to Nephthys, the eternal concentrated on her little speck of a home in the great expanse of space. The Earth below their feet warped and melted as the two senshi blinked from existence in a moment’s notice. Nephthys mentioned only having traveled to her asteroid one time, and for a brief moment, Kallichore wondered if this experience was frightening to the super senshi. She should have thought of that, or prepared better beforehand. She’d have to make it up to Nephthys when they landed.

And land they did, in the green grasses of Kallichore, among the stone ruins of an ancient village. They were centered in a wide valley, verdant as the rolling hills of Scotland. A fresh sea breeze blew through their hair and the temperature was more agreeable than back on Earth. The tiny moon of Jupiter didn’t really experience seasons, instead having a temperate climate all year-round.

Kallichore turned to her passenger, a slight blush creeping to her face. “Ah… I apologize… I should have warned you before just making the jump…”

Quote:
When she had arrived, already powered up, the dark haired senshi of vampires was glad to see the other already there. Returning the bow, surprised by the gesture, the darkly dressed senshi held out a hand when asked if she was ready. “Yes, we should go.” It would be better someplace without snow, in heels training here outside was dangerous.

Indoor training, if they were powered up, would also be a danger due to auras. Yes, this was the best option until she got a handle on her own home world and wasn’t spooked of the place. She really should just swallow her nerves and go again...and explore more.

The landing was...jarring to say the least. Not used to it she felt a bit, or a lot, weak in the knees as she gave a little sway before closing her eyes in order to reorient herself. “I’m ok...I’m just not used to traveling like this.” She answered the other, blue eyes slowly opening and focusing on the other.

“I should get used to it...I need to go to my own homeworld…” She really did, she just...hadn’t. Finally she took the time to look around and inhale the sea air and stared with slowly widening eyes. “It’s so different from mine, what little I saw, and it’s fresh and airy here.” It was outdoors and lovely!

Quote:
“What is Nephthys like?” came an absent minded question. Kallichore bent over at the waist slightly to help the super senshi steady herself. “I've been to a few other home worlds before. They are all very different from one another. One was a jungle, one was covered in snow…”

Once Nephthys was acclimated and more comfortable, the eternal senshi surveyed the ruined remains of the village. She had spent most of her time at the main tower far to the west, but this was still the first place she had seen when first setting foot on the moon. “I remember not believing them when they explained we came from space, that we had homes here. Worlds here. Interesting, isn't it? How one has to see to believe…”

She was wistful for a moment before shaking her head. “My moon is very small. To the east is the sea, and the west through the valley is a tower. This village used to have a church in the center. I thought this place may be more suitable for training, since there are obstacles here.”

Turning to Nephthys, the eternal took a few steps back, lifting her arms. “Sometimes we are not able to rely on our magic to protect ourselves, and oftentimes pepper spray isn’t an option.” Kallichore turned to the side, keeping her head fixated on Nephthys with her body facing the east. “Our outfits or hair might be easier to grab. There are a few things we can do to increase our chances. Turning like this when facing an enemy reduces the size of their target, for example.”

“How comfortable are you with running in those heels?”

Quote:
“I didn’t see much. I’d guess it’s dark, at least indoors it was, and the building I landed in was an old house...a big one. Like you’d see in some movie or tv show about proper, rich, British people. I only went upstairs and into a bedroom. I’m going to guess the red hand like smear on the wall was super old blood but nothing else. I left after that. That plus the dark vibe of the place is a bit creepy, like a bad horror movie.” Or some show about haunted places, actually that was a bit more accurate now that she thought about it.

“I’d go back but I really would rather not go on my own.”

Looking around she glanced to the other then and nodded. “Human nature. I had to as well. I think we all do eventually. It’s still impossible, for me anyway, to see that as home. I see it as a home of other people...like you would Rome or Greece.” Nothing she had a connection to, some ancient ruins that had once housed people but no more. There was just a big disconnect with her and her homeworld, and part of it was never going. The other part was just...she was who she was now not whoever she had been back then. She had no memories, had not lived there, knew nothing and felt nothing for it other than being creeped out. Vampires were not her thing - never had been or would be.

Letting her own chatter die down, in favor of listening to the other, she nodded her head. “Yeah...that would be good. More like the city we live in now.” With obstacles and such, things which they’d have to take into account and could use to their advantage. It was a good idea once she thought on it for a moment, as she had done.

“I can...I just don’t like to. It’s a bit of a risk if I slipped or trip on something and i don’t notice it - too busy with whatever is ahead of me.” Like a youma or whatever else. It left her to risk twisting an ankle and that wasn’t such a thrilling idea, nor was it safe. “If we could work into that it would be better. Even if I can run in heels fighting in them will be harder for me…”

Quote:
Kallichore had to stifle a laugh. It wasn’t directed at Nephthys, but rather her description of the bad horror movie experience she had while visiting her homeworld. Her journey sounded like it fit right in with the vampire theme. “I wouldn’t mind exploring something like that myself. I’m the Senshi of Madness, and yet my homeworld appears quite peaceful. Sometimes that dynamic is… unsettling. But I understand what you mean about thinking of it as a home for someone else. That’s true enough. We haven’t lived here for what… thousands of years?”

Nephthys was correct about the heels - she’d have to learn to run in them well enough to avoid injuring herself before learning to fight in them. While the ruins didn’t provide tall buildings on which to practice, they did provide enough random elevation changes to provide sufficient difficulty for running at high speeds. “Then we’ll just practice running over rocky surfaces for now. That way, you won’t have much distance if you did fall. I’ll run along side you, just in case. When you get better, we can practice something more difficult.”

Youma, on the whole, weren’t bright enough to make plans or to utilize the environment to their advantage. They were too animalistic. But Negaverse agents caused a whole new level of problems for senshi who had difficulty with terrain and their oftentimes ridiculous regalia.

“I know you mentioned not knowing very many other senshi… Have you considered the possibility of patrolling with someone else for safety? I could probably use more time on Earth, rather than spending all that time up here…”

Quote:
“If you want I can take you. I’d prefer going back with someone else rather than alone. Even if I know it’s empty and it’s just me...it still doesn’t feel like it. It’s like watching a horror movie that has a build up before something happens...it feels like that the whole time - like you expect it but it never happens.” And you’re left with that tensed up, ready to jump and run, feeling. She didn’t like it, she really didn’t, and wondered just how people had lived there so long ago. She supposed with people there, and the planet filled with things that weren’t broken and such, it was different and less creepy feeling. She just couldn’t picture it.

“That would be good. I’ve been working on it...but it’s not as easy as some make it look.” She envied them. She had walked in heels for years, she could remember getting her first pair of heels while in middle school. Running in them had never been something she’d really had to do, till becoming a senshi. While she was working on it, and had yet to seriously injure herself, she still needed work on it especially jumping and such. The landings were not easy on her ankles or knees.

“I have but I haven’t met anyone really...or I would. It would be better any as my magic is more support than anything else. I can weaken a person or youma...it doesn’t cause a lot of pain though. It can also be distracting but nothing else really.” And since she didn’t know how to fight it served to buy her time to try and attack, as best she could, or run. Paired with someone who could fight, or who had magic that could do more serious damage, it would work better. “Do you have a place to stay? I mean if you’ve lived here so long...if not you could move in with me...I mean my parents home is large enough and they aren’t home a lot. I could explain it to them and it would all be good.” At least she could explain some of it, without telling them the whole senshi and planets thing.

Quote:
Kallichore nodded, most pleased with the invitation to explore Nephthys’ homeworld. It sounded intriguing at the very least. Perhaps it was much bigger than her home moon as well. “We’ll have to arrange a visit sometime. I know we’re constrained to only visit our homeworlds every so often. I’ll add your contact information to my cellphone…” With a flick of the wrist, her cellphone appeared and Nephthys’ information was swiftly entered. Bless Mauvian technology.

The eternal had been couch-surfing, for the most part, having completed her Literature degree at Destiny City but lacking steady employment. Her focus had turned to her moon years ago and she hadn’t thought too much of earthly issues since then. “Truthfully?” she started, curling her fingers about her jawline. “...I don’t really have a permanent place to stay, but I wouldn’t want to impose, especially if you’re living at home with your parents. Aren’t I a little old for that?” She chuckled then, wondering just how old Nephthys was, and what her home situation entailed.

“We’ll worry about that later. For now, let’s make sure you can safely run in those heels without rolling an ankle. First thing’s first - no sudden stops. You must slow down to a walk and then stop. Otherwise, you risk tripping.” Kallichore demonstrated the concept, starting at a brisk jog and stopping with both feet suddenly. This threw off her center of balance, causing her to lurch forward. She turned around and jogged towards Nephthys again, this time slowing down until she could safely stop. The grasslands provided a somewhat bumpy terrain on which to practice, but it was at least soft in case of a fall.

“Does that make sense?”

Quote:
“Since I’ve only gone once, and that was a while ago, it won’t be hard to bring you there.” She wouldn’t have anything keeping her from bringing the other with her whenever the other wanted. She was free to go whenever she wanted, and she knew it.

“I mean my parents are almost always working or just not around. So I’m mostly alone, aside from the cats, so if you want to move in I can just tell them I have a friend and they got kicked out of their home or something. They won’t have a problem with it.” She was sure of that, she typically got what she wanted from her parents. She’d ask, tell them what was going on, and do a little begging and have what she wanted. Her parents knew she liked to help friends, or give them things out right, so it wouldn’t surprise them in the slightest bit. “It won’t be an issue, just say you’ll move in and I’ll arrange it. From asleep over to moving in and you’ll be good.” She’d have the other sleep over, as a friend, and then tell her parents she’d found out about some sort of living arrangements and tell it to her parents. It was easy to do - perfect!

“Sounds simple enough and makes sense.” A sudden stop would likely kill her balance due to the jerking of a sudden stop. Nodding to the others words she watched the other. “Makes sense, glad you kept your balance. I figure in time I’ll manage to keep mine just incase I have to suddenly stop, as I’m sure in a fight that’ll happen at least a few times.”

Quote:
The eternal senshi didn't want to impose, to suddenly become a burden on someone else’s household. Then again, Nephthys provided an excellent solution to several problems: Kallichore would have a stable place to live to continue her research, she could patrol with, and protect, Nephthys at night, and she could possibly see about having her part-time work as a college librarian and history teacher’s aide upgraded to full-time to assist with household expenses.

Really, it seemed mostly like a win/win situation.

“If it's not too much trouble…” Kallichore stared off into the distance, mind churning through the appropriate words. “...I’d like to meet your parents first. Gain their permission. I have a job, so I can pay for the room and board. We could patrol at night, have you get used to fighting and moving so you'll be safer…”

She didn't have much in the way of possessions - most of them were in storage at the family home with her brother and father. Having been away from home with little communication, she'd have to work her way slowly back into her own family. She doubted that would be too difficult, but explaining where she had been would be.

With a shame of her head, Kallichore focused on the task at hand. “Alright Nephthys, let's see you run in those heels and come to a safe stop.”

Quote:
Shaking her head, quickly, her hair bouncing and swinging about her as she did so. “No-no! It’s no trouble. I promise. My parents won’t mind at all. I’d like to have company anyway. They spend a lot of time away and not home...aside from the holidays I don’t see them a lot.” So it got lonely in the large home her family lived in, though she really seemed to do much of the living in the house as opposed to her parents.

“I’d like it actually.” She said smiling at the other. “If course, you can come over for dinner and a sleepover.” She could arrange that quickly, and with ease, and let the other meet her parents. She had no doubt things would go well, her parents were pretty easy going with their only child. It seemed that they were making up for not being around a lot, her lack of siblings, and whatever else they thought they should be making up for. They understood, and silently accepted, when she went on shopping sprees even when they weren’t for herself but rather friends.

“How about you just pay for whatever food you like and want added to the kitchen?” She offered the other. Since it was more likely than not that they had some differing tastes in food. It would make sense she pay for that perhaps. “That would make sense...right?” She asked, wanting to make sure. She wasn’t used to having other people spend money for their own things, at least not when she was around and could spend money for them.

“We’ll work it out and have you moved in soon. You can have the bedroom next to mine or across the hall from mine.” That way they could be close...like sisters or just good friends. They could talk across or down the hall to each other and it would be a quick walk to the others room for anything.

As the other senshi changed the topic she nodded her head, time to get back to the task at hand - running in heels. The terrain wasn’t flat, which was the only time she’d ever run in heels before, so it wasn’t easy when she did move from a fast walk into a run. A heel slipping here and there and causing her to lose her balance every so often, thankfully she was able to keep from crashing to the ground, but it slowed her and when she came back the slow down into the stop wasn’t too bad.

Quote:
Imposition aside, Nephthys had several good points, and they’d have to meet and get along in civilian form as well. It would be good for the both of them, it sounded, and would give Christa a chance to reconnect with her father and brother without having to move back in and impose upon them. “Alright. I’ll meet you for dinner and we’ll see how it goes from there? Again, I don’t want to impose, especially if your parents are gone most of the time. I doubt they’d want a stranger living under their roof.”

She’d check in with her manager at the university and see about getting just a few more hours under her belt during the day. It wasn’t healthy to have her nose in research all day, then traveling to her moon and spending countless hours there every week at night. For years! Truthfully, Kallichore was still searching for meaning in the universe, and she had not yet found it. What was it she read once? It wasn’t about the destination, but the journey.

Perhaps meeting Nephthys was part of this journey.

Nodding at the super senshi’s progress, Kallichore smiled. “Yes, once you’ve mastered moving in heels on uneven ground, running across a rooftop will be effortless. That’s the first step to remaining safe. Once you’re comfortable in your shoes, we’ll move onto self-defense. Maybe we can enroll in a class back in the city. I’m probably quite rusty - I haven’t had to fight too often these days. I shouldn’t let my guard slip…”

Youma were easy to contend with - agents and Chaos-addled senshi were more difficult to parse. She hoped Nephthys would never have to face one of them alone.

Quote:
“They’d think it would be good for me. I wouldn’t be alone with the cats.” She answered. It wasn’t good to spend so much time home alone, which she did. When she wasn’t out with her friends, or in school, she was alone at home. It would be good to spend time with someone and be able to bond with someone, especially someone who was a senshi. She wouldn’t have to watch what she said or keep secrets, like she did with her friends now. She didn’t want to risk her friends finding out and somehow getting dragged into things….or finding out they were on the other side, that wasn’t even something she wanted to consider.

“But of course, dinner and a sleepover and then you can move in.” As she had no doubt things would go well between the other senshi and her parents. Maybe it was just the social butterfly in her also, and her want and need for this, which had her all but bouncing in her heels and excited. The smile she wore was certainly bright and happy, no doubt showing just how good a mood she was in. For a vampire senshi, and dressed as she was, it didn’t fit her personality really.

“What about ice though? That’ll always be hard won’t it.” Something she didn’t like. “We can change shoes though...right? For winter I could put winter boots on and remove these?” She asked, unsure. She knew she could put a coat on over her dress, though it really was hard to fit her dress into a coat given all the ruffles and layers, but to take something off and replace it...she figured she could though - right?

“We could, I have the time.” Perhaps she had a bit too much time on her hands. Some sort of self-defense would be good for her, and perhaps the other as well? It would be nice to do with someone else, so she didn’t feel bad when she made mistakes. Plus she could go over things afterwards and they’d know what she was having issues with. Yes, it was a very good idea!

“We can find a place together then. Or rather I’ll go with you and help you look up places...you can pick a place.” She said nodding her head.

Quote:
“Ice will always be difficult, yes, but I have a pair of strap-on cleats you could use. They’re inexpensive, maybe $15? They’re rubber, so they stretch to fit over your boots. My heels aren’t quite as high as yours, but you’re welcome to try them on. They even roll up to easily fit in a purse.” One of the best purchases she’d ever made on Amazon. Why the Cosmic Tailor didn’t create all-terrain shoes for its senshi, Kallichore would never know.

Or perhaps, it just never considered the idea that Chaos could have destroyed almost everything.

Shaking her head, Kallichore straightened her fuku. “That’s probably enough practice on grassy terrain for today. I can only transport you once per week, but it would be suitable and safer while the weather is inhospitable back in Destiny City. Until then…” A red gloved tapped at her chin. “I supposed I should gather my things. I don’t have much, thankfully. Most everything of value is back at my father’s house. Just odds and ends. It worked out better this way, to have fewer things to carry around.”

Besides, she hadn’t even considered the idea of transporting bedroom furniture onto the moon. The temperature and weather were mild and pleasant, sure, but the whole place was so quiet and so devoid of life that extended periods of time spent here would get lonely very frequently. Maybe that’s how Nephthys felt when in the confines of a large, empty house?

“When I’m not like this, my name is Christa. I’m twenty-two years old and I have a literature degree from Destiny City University. I don’t make much noise and I’m not very good with computers but… if you like stationary, I have quite a bit of it. And real ink pens as well.” She wasn’t the most interesting young lady in the world, but she was more at home in her own skin than she ever was.

Quote:
“Strap on cleats?” She questioned. She knew what cleats were but strap on ones. That she didn’t know about, had never heard about. If they could be put onto her heels, somehow, she would take it. “You and I both could use them for ice.” She stated already glad for the other bringing up this wonderful thing. Not being one for sports it was no wonder she’d never heard of or seen them.

“I’ll have to buy a pair. You’ll show me which ones on Amazon?” She asked, hopeful. If they were as good as they sounded she would be getting them as soon as possible. While she may, or may not, get a lot of use out of them this year she knew they’d help when winter rolled around again. She would continue to need them and who knew if it snowed on her own home world, she hadn’t a clue. She might just wind up needing them there also.

“Well next week we can go to my homeworld, together, if you’d like than yours again. I can’t go as often as you can but we should be able to alternate weeks...so you won’t have to come so often...unless two training sessions every other week.” She offered up watching the other.

“Genevieve and I’m twenty one. I’ll be twenty two in March.” So she wasn’t much younger than the other - good. I’m attending for liberal arts degree...I really don’t know what to go for. I like to plan events for people...when I can anyway...it’s a hobby.” She was good at it though - really good at it. The bigger the budget the better she was, she could find all kinds of things and just go to town on arranging an event and making it look wonderful.

“I have to work with stationary at times when making invitations to things I help people plan so that would be great, I’d love to see what you have. And I don’t make a lot of noise either but I like to shop and spend time with friends. I have five adopted cats, all siblings...I hope you don’t mind.”

Quote:
Kallichore frowned for a moment. “Maybe it’s more… wrap-on? Either way, I’ll show you when I gather my things. I’ve never seen them used on heels quite as tall as yours, but at the very least, the cleats on the largest surface of your shoe will be helpful on ice. I’ve had them for a few years and they hold up well enough.” Hopefully the snow and ice in Destiny City would melt soon enough so the cleats could be stored away. Running around the city in heels was difficult enough - ice just made things ridiculous.

“Yes, I remember when I was Super too, your connection to your homeworld was stronger than when you first awakened. The more powerful you become as a senshi, the more often you can travel.” Kallichore nodded to herself, thankful she’d gotten past the Super stage where one boot was falling apart and she looked more ragged than ever. It was difficult to battle with one boot flapping in the wind, threatening to split in two like a banana, at a moment’s notice.

The eternal wore a slight smile, something she didn’t do often, and bowed her head slightly to Nephthys. “Genevieve. It’s nice to meet you. Exploring your homeworld next week sounds like an excellent idea. I’d love to see it, honestly. Visiting a place with more architecture and less open space will be… quite a lot of fun, I think.” Most of the other worlds she’d visited were rural if not outright wild in nature, so seeing something more urban would be a great change of pace.

“Shall we go back?”

Quote:
“That works, either way if it helps even a little bit I’ll have to get a pair.” She said nodding her head. Anything would could keep her from injuring herself was worth it, was worth any cost, because she really didn’t fancy the idea of twisting, spraining, or breaking something. That would not only be hard to explain to her parents, who would take to fussing over her, but it would hinder her life as it would impede upon her mobility and she did not want to deal with that. No, she would take whatever help they could offer her and be happy for it - very happy.

“I don’t think I’ve seen anyone with heels like mine...but I haven’t many friends and don’t know many other senshi or knights. The few I’ve seen...I didn’t notice their shoes.” Though she did notice the outfits many wore and...she wasn’t sure about whatever or whoever decided about their uniforms. Some screws had to be loose or missing...though her uniform fit her sphere that was for sure. But that corrupted senshi of succubus...the uniform and the hair….all that hair!

“I-I think mine is a city...at least where I was. I didn’t see much, too busy being creeped out, but it’s certainly not this. I’d love to have company to explore it...I’m glad you don’t mind coming.” Because if someone didn’t come with her she would not be going, and she knew it. She just got too creeped out in the place but she was curious about it, it couldn’t be helped she supposed.

Nodding her head to the question she looped arms with the other. “Sure. Then we can plan dinner and a sleepover and you can sleep over tonight as well.” Since dinner and her parents and all would have to be tomorrow night, as it was late already back in Destiny City.

Quote:
Kallichore kept hold of Nephthys as the world around them shifted and faded to become Destiny City once more. The biting yet familiar wind greeted them swiftly, blowing bits of fuku and hair every which way. The eternal let out a sigh, watching her warm breath become steam in the bitter cold. “I’ll need a few minutes to gather my things, if you don’t mind. It’s not too far from here.”

She lifted an arm to indicate south, towards the urban apartment complexes that dotted downtown Destiny City. “It would be faster if we ran there while powered, then powered down. I can call us a cab from there. I don’t think either one of us wish to be in the snow any longer than we have to be.”

It was strange, moving in with someone so suddenly, but both of them could use the change.
