Fallon was getting back to work after her injury and she found it a little difficult. She had to carry lighter loads and she couldn't lift her arm very high anymore. Since there was nothing more that she could do inside the sanctum greenhouse she decided to take the watering can and tend to the flowers that were on the outer grounds.
The young acolyte used her good arm to carry the heavy sloshing water. It made things a bit awkward for her, having to lean to the side to make up for the strength she didn't have with her other arm but after a minute of walking she grew used to it. When she finally reached the outside grounds of the sanctum she made her way toward one of the many flower pots.

Paej had a basket on her arm and looked like she had a goal in mind. Her coin purse was firmly stashed away under the cloak that hid the scars of her missing arm. Tiny glasses perched on her rounded nose and glinted in the sunlight as she walked with a determined air about her. The Prentice wanted to buy something to make for supper tonight, since her parents were too busy. She thought she'd treat them. Of course, her mother hated her in the kitchen by herself, but she was determined to show that she'd be fine if she ever had the desire to leave Yael. (Which she doubted she did, but still.) To do this, she detoured to the sanctum. She also wanted to see if there was anyone about. Someone to talk to. What she found was another girl looking like she was about to start watering the vast amount of flowers planted about. "Hello," she greeted the other, stopping a few feet away from her. "...Do you need help?"

When she heard the greeting she looked around before setting her eyes on the girl who spoke. "Hello." Fallon smiled before she bent down and set her watering can down so that the weight wouldn't tire her arm out. "Oh I couldn't ask someone else to do my job." Though help would be nice if she was honest. She was trying to get used to her weakened arm. She looked at the girl for a moment before she noticed that one of her arms was covered up. Fallon wasn't sure why. Then her eyes landed on the basket. "Oh, are you here to pick something up?" She knew that some people came in to receive talismans from time to time.

When her arm was noticed, Paej was glad it wasn't in question. "I assure you it's no trouble." She smiled a little sheepishly and just bit down on her bottom lip. She put the basket to the floor for now and wandered closer. "...I wouldn't mind a talisman, honestly." Everyone knew she could use the extra help. "But I was on my way to market to get something for supper tonight. I just took a detour." Paej shifted a bit more, looking into the flower pots. "Ah, my name is Paej. Sorry for not saying that earlier. Are you sure you don't want help? Supper is still a ways off.."

She gave a glace toward the flower pots. There were a lot of them. However, her attention was brought back to Paej when she mentioned a talisman. Fallon smiled and nodded her head. "Oh, of course." It was one of the reasons she kept a few tucked away in her sash. She never knew when one of the villagers would want one. So she reached in and pulled one out, closing her eyes as she prayed over it then handed it to the girl. "Here you are, may Lurin and Dafiel bless you." "Ah, I'm Acolyte Fallon." The offer for help was there yet again and it was her time to bite down on her own lip. "Well I... to be honest I could use a little help. I injured my arm a while ago and it's still a bit weak." Fallon lowered her head slightly. "Are you sure you wouldn't mind?"

When she prayed, Paej closed her eyes as well out of respect. She took the talisman and thumbed it before quickly tucking it for safe keeping, a huge smile on her face. She bowed her head a bit before the talk turned back to the flowers. "I'm so sorry to hear that! How did you hurt it?" She moved a bit, taking the watering can into her arm. It was a muscled arm, clearly she'd been like this for a while. It was very little effort to start the watering process. "I don't mind at all. We can all use help from time to time. Nothing wrong with it." It had taken her so long to realize that. "Acolyte Fallon.. Fallon is a very lovely name."

She stared at Paej as she picked up the watering can so easily. Fallon missed being able to lift things and not worry about the weight. As she was asked about the injury she unconsiously reached up and rubbed at her shoulder where the brusies hid under her clothes. "Uhm, I fell from a ladder." A worried look was on her face as she thought about it. "The wound healed but I can't lift much." As the other girl started the watering process Fallon made sure to get close and move leaves and blooms out of the way to make sure the water reached the soil they were in. "I feel so useless now." It was clear that she had yet to realize that Paej was actually missing her arm. The compliment to her name caused her to smile with a light blush. "Thank you. I believe my mother named me." Though it could have been her father. She wasn't sure.

Shot with an arrow? Paej's eyes widened and she looked at the poor Acolyte, a hard frown forming on full lips. Who would shoot an Acolyte with an arrow? Who would harm one of them? She stopped watering the flower pot and then just shook her head. "Do you know who shot you?" It made zero sense to her. It was angering her, in all honesty. Her face was colored with anger. "Who in this world would ever harm someone like you? Any religious figures, really! They do no wrong.." She frowned and pushed her hand through her hair, watering can at her feet. "I understand. When my arm had to be removed I.." She shrugged. "I felt useless. I didn't want to accept help. I wanted to do everything on my own as if I had all my limbs."

She noticed the anger as it appeared on Paej's face but she softened her own expression. "No, I don't know who she is but she wasn't a Yaeli." Fallon offered. "She was one of those Alkidikes that were sent to our island some time a go." Then again if she hadn't been so far away from the safety of the sanctum at the time it never would have happened. Fallon was going to say something else but the girl in front of her moved her hand through her hair after putting the watering can down. Why didn't she just use her other arm? And then she found out. The priestess in training went wide eyed and gasped as she heard that Paej had an arm removed. Her hands came up to her lips to cover her open mouth. A deeper blush reached her cheeks and spread across the bridge of her nose. Here she was complaining about a little weakness in her arm when this girl had lost hers! "Lurin forgive me. I shouldn't complain about a little weakness.. Oh, I'm sorry." To say that Fallon felt foolish would be a vast understatement.

And here it was. Paej shook her hand and her head and clicked her tongue. "No! You can complain of your hardships! Just because I'm missing an arm doesn't mean your pain is irrelevant!" She flushed and was flustered now, trying to make sure it was okay. "Everyone has hardships. I've gotten over mine, you've just started. You've got more reason to talk about it than I do!" The smile that appeared on her face was hopefully a soothing one. "Honestly. It's okay. I mean it! It's fine. I'm not upset and you shouldn't be either." Then it clicked and Paej realized she said it wasn't one of them. "An Alkidike? Of course..." She sighed hard and rubbed at the back of her neck now. "Hopefully you get the strength back. You might need to work it out. Do you have something squishy that boucnes back you can just like squeeze?" She made a squeezing motion before grinning. "Or you can start off with an empty pail and slowly add small amounts of water to build up your muscles again."

Poor Fallon had spots of tears in the corners of her eyes as she watched Paej. "I'm sorry.. I.." Well she wasn't sure what to say really. So she sucked in her bottom lip instead and chewed on it lightly. So when she was finally told that she shouldn't be upset she nodded her head just a little. It would take longer than that for her to not be upset about her lack of observation or even humility but she would work on it. "Something squishy that bounces..." Fallon thought about it before shaking her head. "No, I don't think so, but I'm sure I can find one." There was a soft laugh that escaped her when she saw Paej's grin. "Maybe I should start with an empty pail." She would look into that when she had free time. Though she did wonder if the watering can was light enough now that some of it's contents had been emptied. No better way than to find on herself. So Fallon reached down with her weaker arm and picked the can up. The strain on her muscles hurt but she could at least hold onto it. As for lifting it.. well, not so much. It pulled and felt like her shoulder was tearing. So she winced and switched hands. "I'll have to work on it more."

The girl looked like she was going to cry. Paej wanted to offer her a hug, but she didn't know if touching was okay. So her expression softened a bit. And she watched as Fallon tried out the can and then just let out a little noise. "Yes. Slow and steady. Don't tear the muscles. Well I mean.. Working them out will, but don't hurt yourself... Recovery is a slow process." She sighed lightly and just shrugged a bit. Slowly she pulled the cloth over her shoulder more firmly. "If you find a pail is too heavy, try books. You can hold a book, raise it above your head. Get your range of motion back... I had to work out this arm a lot." She flexed her arm, the muscle bulging under her skin. Paej was really proud of her arm, thank you very much.

Books? Well she had a lot of those in her room. And at least if she dropped a book she wasn't going to spill water all over the place. "How long did it take for you to make your arm stronger?" Fallon was curious. Mostly she wanted to know how long it would be before she was able to lift things again. How long it would take her to get back to normal. All she really wanted was to forget what had happened but with her arm still lame it reminded her ever day. "Do you think it'll take me a long time to be able to do the little things again?" As it was she needed help doing her hair, getting dressed, and getting things down from high places.

"Everyone's different, honestly. It took me a couple of years to feel like I wasn't completely helpless..." She thought back to her childhood, a far-off expression on her face now. "It was hard, though. I had my days where I.. honestly asked myself if I was better off not.. alive. But then I realized my family is here and they'd suffer if I kept thinking like that." She put her hand on her hip now and just bit down on her lip one more time. "If you'd like, I can bring some of the things I use to keep my strength up? I have this device I use, that I squeeze with my hand and it works out my lower arm muscles. I have a weight that I raise above my head.. I can let you borrow these! I've got extra ones, so it's not going to hurt me at all. And I can always just try to do push ups.." She hadn't actually done that yet. Paej had struggled so hard with them and she just ended up in so much pain that she stopped doing it.

Her head gave a small bob as she nodded her head. It made sense that everyone was different. Though she wasn't sure if that was helpful to her or not. Fallon didn't think she had a stronger resolve than the girl standing in front of her. So that meant it could take her much longer than Paej to get that strength. As she was offered the use of things that could help she thought about it. Certainly they couldn't hurt anything. "I would like that, thank you." And since Paej had others then that meant she wouldn't be out of anything while Fallon used them. She gave her attention to the next flower pot and did her best to water it with her injured arm, though she did support it with her good arm to make sure she didn't make a mess. "Maybe then I won't worry about spilling water everywhere." Fallon let out a breath as she lowered her hand and took the tension off her shoulder. Remembering that the girl had shopping to do she looked around for her basket. "Oh you mentioned that you were cooking supper. Would you like some mushrooms? I grew them fresh in the greenhouse."
