Thunk.
Bailey focused on the target in front of her, listened to the soothing voice of her mentor in archery.
Thunk.
She tried not to let her thoughts wander. But they did.
To the Negaverse. To the mysterious Dark Mirror. To her boys. To her homeworld. Her no-animal-life homeworld.
Thunk. Move back so the target was farther away.
The homeworld she needed to visit again. The homeworld she needed to figure out a way to bring back to life, more than just the ancient forests. The homeworld she wanted to set up a refuge on, someplace she and her boys could just hide from the world.
Thunk.
But what if she went there alone again? Could she handle it? How many others could she take with her? What if they couldn’t handle it? She didn’t want anyone else to have that same moment of panic she’d had. That same rush of fear and wrongness and uncertainty.
Thunk.
No, she’d need to do it herself. Take a radio or something to keep the noise at bay, maybe get a ‘base camp’ of sorts set up. That way she could take others without there being trouble. Maybe she could find one of those ‘sounds of the forest’ CDs and play that? That would definitely help with the lack of natural undernoises…
Thunk. Move back again to distance herself even more from the target.
Yeah, surely that would work! And if it didn’t, she always had the button for home. ALWAYS. She could do it. She could go back to her homeworld, and start figuring things out. She’d need to hit up a camping site later, and see if she could find a way to get the money together for everything she needed…
Thunk.
Maybe there were other senshi out there who needed like...posters or stuff done? Or would be interested in learning archery in exchange for help in getting supplies? Because it would definitely take too long to get everything together if she saved her allowance. And her parents would be suspicious if she asked for the money for camping stuff, and then that stuff was never seen on Earth again…
Thunk. Bow down, time to see how well she did.
Yeah. Yeah, she could definitely figure this out. Maybe she could find a kitty to help her organize things? Or an older senshi. Ugh...she just really wanted to be able to make it work, and being only thirteen and trying to do something that needed money was hard.
Her thoughts were jostled out when she arrived at the target and started looking to see where her arrows had landed. Oh! She was getting better! There was starting to be less difference in where her arrows landed on the target the further back she went! She felt a small surge of pride, and then embarrassment when her instructor praised her on her improvement. Yeah...yeah, she could definitely do this. She just needed a little time, a little elbow grease.
