It was their first night on patrol. At least, that's what Penn---err--- Stella had called it. His older sister had sent him a text on the way home from school, going on about some kind of quota and that it was time to learn the ropes of what their job was in this new, crazy cool club they'd managed to stumble across. He hadn't paid terribly close attention to what exactly she'd said - all Alrik knew was, he now got a chance to try on his cool uniform again and he wasn't about to say no to that! So there they both stood, highlighted beneath the glow of a street lamp as Epidote continued to fidget with the remote control in his hand. He'd dutifully been pressing the buttons every time he'd seen any sort of electronic device... this sucker had to work with SOMETHING, for goodness sake. "So, uh... energy collecting." Gloved hands quit messing with the remote for a moment as he glanced towards his sibling, "I know the jist of what we need to get, but not the how. Can we do something a little more hands on than verbal instructions, Stella?" Epi was always more of a "figure it out by taking it apart" kind of guy anyways. Nuxaz idk what glitch you're talking about, I've been tagging everything fine

Taking her baby brother out for his first run since Alkaid had corrupted him had left a pleasant tingling within Stellerite. She saw it for what it was, a true test of her competency in her role and she was determine to fly, soar like the pretty little birdy her general thought her to be. "I should have asked for Kari to come meet us," Stella sighed, knowing that the woman would have been a willing participant if the blonde had only asked.
The senshi was wound around her finger and the lieutenant was all too happy to keep stroking the way she felt about Stella until there was no way for her to get out.
"It's fine, I'll bring you next time I see her," she offered, tapping her chin thoughtfully. She would have to teach Epi the old fashioned way of energy draining because she didn't think that he would enjoy kissing her little pet senshi right after she did. Or that Kari would be okay with it. Poor thing struggled to understand that Stellerite was going to be doing other things with other people, so she wouldn't shatter her illusion of Stella being the best not-girlfriend ever.
"Best to find us a cute little civilian, they're easier." She decided, choosing to stroll forward. "Or some naive, desperate to please moonie." Moonie was what she'd taken to calling the senshi. She didn't have a cute and clever name for all those knights she kept accidentally awakening. (By pure accident, mind you, because it was all wrong place right time.)
There was a blip on her radar, a sensation plucking at the hairs at the base of her neck and she shivered with anticipation of what might lay at the end of this magical game of 'find the source of the aura'. "Oooh, Epi," she reached for his arm, "do you feel that?"
ghouliboo i will fight you. well icarus will but he'll come in next tag~

Unlike his sister, there was no shiver of anticipation that stirred in the pit of his stomach, but instead, an awkward wave of nausea began to form. Something, simply put, just felt off and Epidote couldn't place his finger on what that feeling was. His muscles tensed as that feeling intensified, almost as though it was working towards growing stronger. Was this what his sister meant, when she said they would be able to sense other powered individuals? And why was it such a distasteful feeling? Eyes narrowed as it dawned on the teenager that perhaps they weren't expecting another ally, but an enemy. "Stay behind me, Pe-- Stella." Damn, he'd have to get used to switching the names around. One arm moved to gesture for her to keep behind him, not that the blonde seventeen year old really knew what he was about to do either. She was his sister - he would protect her, regardless.

Stellerite could, very clearly, remember the first time she had felt an aura that wasn't her own or Miss Alkaid's. It felt sticky in that too clean sort of way that hospitals occasionally felt like. It had the taste of fresh laundry in her mouth, the heavy taste of too much detergent and bleach and that sticky warmth of a newly opened dryer, warm clothing spilling out of it and the scent of fabric softener and static clinging to the air of a cramped laundry room.
She wondered what it felt and tasted like to Epi.
"Relax," she said immediately as he stepped in front of her, trying to shield her with his body. Gently, perfectly manicured nails came to rest on his shoulders, a gesture that implied heel boy. "We don't know if they're dangerous yet, I'll call, if I need help."
Carefully, the woman stepped forward, leaving the comforting shadows that the building they stayed behind provided and stepped into the light.
"Hello?" She called, making her voice purposely shake as she peered around. "Is anybody out there?"

Icarus, as usual, was in a piss mood.
He'd gotten shorted on hours at his last job and made s**t for tips. With the rate he was going, he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to afford rent at the place he shared with his best friend. It didn't matter that he'd hardly been there, he wasn't going to skimp on rent, not when they were finally getting back to a point where they weren't awkwardly avoiding each other.
So, the senshi had been in a hurry to get home, both because he really just wanted to collapse on a bed and sleep until his alarm went off and because he'd been hoping to swing by the apartment he shared with Ellis before going to crash at the place he was temporarily sharing with Isaiah. When the chick came out of the shadows, looking meek and scared, Icarus's alarm bells were a ringing because he knew that she wasn't alone. It was hard to tell, with the overlapping signatures that felt almost the same.
"What ever you're selling lady, I don't want any," he sneered, slight russian accent making it's way to line his gruffly spoken words. "Tell your buddy to get out here too or get lost. Ain't got time for your s**t."

He felt his grip on the remote tighten as the asshat in front of them gave his sister a rather contemptuous attitude. It didn't matter that he'd dismissed Epidote as nothing more than a buddy to the situation - no one sassed his sister but him. "Are you normally this big of a jerk or are your shorts on too tight tonight, buddy?" Arms moved to cross over his chest, less he break his useless toy by gripping it too tight. He attempted to match the smirk of the other boy, his feet dragging together as he struck the most casual Team Rocket-esque pose that he could muster. "Then again, I might have a chronic b***h face too, if I'd been given an outfit like that." There. That sounded semi-cool, right??

Well, things took a turn for the worst when the senshi reacted hostilely to her. "You know, this could have been so easy," she sighed at him. Stella was frustrated by the immediate reaction, but it did remind her that, in cases where she was bait, that it was probably better if he didn't power up until she needed him.
That would be something they would have to work out and strategize to be most effective while keeping his identity a secret. But that was neither here nor there because there was an angry looking senshi glaring at her.
"Epi don't - " Stella tried, but it was too late because there her brother was, instinctively coming to her aid.
"I'm afraid you've just found yourself in trouble," she cooed, sighing just a bit before she stepped aside, for her brother to engage if he so chose.
--
"Yeah, right," Icarus sneered, gray eyes rolling, "nothing's easy with you guys." Experience had taught him that if anyone with that sickly, smoky, and suffocating aura came around it meant trouble. Like that crazy b***h who literally wanted to take a bite out of him.
"At least I don't look like a video game reject," he shot back at the guy, eyes narrowed into a steely glare. "Dunno what you two are up to but..." He shook his head, shoulders rolling back as he cracked his knuckles.
Maybe fighting had been something he had hoped to avoid, but he had to admit that he could really use an excuse to blow off some steam. "Let's see if you can back up that lame a** pose." There was a flash of sneer on his face before it disappeared because Icarus was stepping forward, keeping an eye on Stellerite, as he swung at Epidote.

His reaction speed in-game was quick, but as he felt the man's fist come into contact with his shoulder as he did his best to duck, Epidote realized that he still had a lot of training to do to reflect his skills in the real world. He winced as the force of the blow knocked him off balance, one hand flying up to grab at the now-sore shoulder as his other moved out to blindly swing back at the senshi. Epidote had never been much for fist fighting in his earlier years at school - every dispute could be handled off the playground and inside, in front of a television screen. Punches and kicks were foreign to him, even when it came to preschool tussling with his older sister. Though his arm hurt like crazy, he did his best to at least act like it wasn't a big deal. "You're just jealous because I've got a cooler outfit!"

Off to the side, Stellerite watched with her lip between her teeth and her hands digging into the silky fabric of her shirt. While her expression was otherwise impassive, it would be obvious to her brother that she was worried.
--
Icarus never stopped keeping in mind where the woman went, knowing that she could change her mind in an instant and attack if she felt like her companion was in true danger. It didn't take him long to determine that he had the advantage, that this punk-a** had no true experience fighting.
That didn't stop him from getting clipped in the jaw because he didn't draw back quick enough.
Hissing, he gritted his teeth more tightly together, silver eyes flashing as he grabbed at the boy's shoulders and sought to yank him down into a knee to the gut.
"Please, I'll take the orange shorts over that get up anyway," he sneered, jaw stinging.

Epidote opened his mouth to elicit another rather witty comeback, but the wind was knocked out of his lungs the moment the other man's knee came into contact with his stomach. The force shoved upwards, Epidote's hands instinctively flying down to grip at his injured front. Instead, hands moved around the bare leg of the senshi, creating a horrified expression across the teenager's face as he realized he wasn't holding against the bottom half of his awesome looking shirt, but the hairy, hairy naked leg of his enemy. Hands flew off and he stumbled backwards, falling directly on his butt as green eyes stared up at the angry looking Order member. There were no words, except one. "GROSS." Despite his stomach killing him and his butt now stinging like crazy, he couldn't help but rub his palms against the sides of his pants in disgust as he glanced over at his sister.

Things were getting too ugly for Stellerite to stand back and just watch as her brother was getting the crap beat out of him and she sighed before making her decision. The blonde woman really didn't like getting her hands dirty if she didn't have to, but Miss Alkaid had equipped her with some physical combat training and since they hadn't gotten to it yet with Epi...
Okay, she was getting involved.
Icarus had talking a step forward, that stormy gaze directed to the fallen lieutenant when Stellerite had gotten in his way. Immediately his gaze darkened, a silent warning that if she didn't get out of his way that he wouldn't hesitate to punch her either.
Normally, the sailor scout would have reservations about punching a lady but...
"I'm going to ask you once, very politely," the woman was saying, keeping herself between Icarus and Epidote, "to back away before I decide to get my hands dirty."
There was something icy in her tone, something cold enough to make him hesitate despite the way his entire body was rigid and tense. A quick look between the pair, because did he really want to fight both of them if it came down to it, and Icarus had made his decision.
"Fine," he spat, literally, at her taking a step back. "But if I see either of you again, I will put your face in the ground." Clapping his hands together, a feather appeared between the two and his entire being glowed. When he jumped back, there was a weightlessness that jettisoned him back way further than what would have been expected.
He'd figured out the basis of magic in the sense that it made putting distance between himself and the other parties so much easier.
Once the senshi was far enough away, Stellerite turned to her brother and sighed. "Well, this just tells me that we need to get some combat training soon."

He'd have been lying if he denied being impressed by the senshi's leap backwards or the magical feather in front of him. So instead, Epidote didn't say anything at all, choosing instead to continue rubbing his hands against his pants. His muscles ached - is this how his characters felt, when they'd been defeated in battle? Sheesh. Stella hadn't fought his battle for him, she'd just stepped in to tag-team by his side. Like Jesse and James, Bonnie and Clyde. At least the guy had figured out that the odds were against his favor, despite Epidote's obvious lack of fighting talent. "Yeah, I guess." The words were followed by a heavy sigh and then a grunt, the teenager moving to return to his feet. Brushing the dirt off his hands, fingers moved up to brush through blonde hair, a sign of irritation on the Lieutenant's part. "I can't promise I'll go easy on him next time, though."

Despite her best attempts to be anything but, Stellerite was clearly agitated and it showed in the way she clamped her mouth shut and her jaw ticked. Blue eyes were narrowed in irritation and she had a hand fitted against her hip when she turned towards Epidote.
"This was a disaster," she mumbled, pinching the bridge of her nose. It was unclear if she was annoyed with her brother, the situation, or herself. It was likely the latter, because Stella always got so painfully grumpy whenever she lost control of a situation that she should have been able to handle.
"Are you okay though?" Her expression softened immediately as she stepped towards her brother, teal heels clacking against the pavement as she reached for him. One manicured hand reached to cup his cheek as she tried to look him over. "We'll just do better next time. Right?"

He was mindful enough to keep quiet and not exacerbate her headache; Stella was clearly not happy with how the so-called fight had dissolved and he wasn't about to add to her pains. Fingers brushed against his cheek and his hand covered hers, enjoying the feeling of knowing his older sister was there for him, concerned for him. If it hadn't been for Penny, he'd be wasting another night away on the computer, lost in a digital world. Instead, she'd offered him an opportunity of a lifetime and he wasn't going to mess up, not when this meant so much to her. "Just my pride, mostly." Gripping her hand in his, he pulled her fingers from off of his face, his somber expression turning into his best grin. "Nothing I can't handle after a nice... consolation prize pizza. Pepperoni, maybe?" He laughed as she shook her head and turned, chasing after his older sibling as the Lieutenant walked off. Epi knew she'd cave in; they could both use some cheesy junk food after a night like that. "I'll even let you read me your new story for proofing!" His voice rang out after her as long legs moved to catch up to the blonde, the teenager linking arms with the eldest Rey as they made their way back to her apartment.
