Deker had spent the night near the jungles edge so he could keep track on the lioness he had met out in the plains the day before. He would be missed back in the colony but he was also confident that it could continue to run itself for a night while he made sure that they were all safe from any ill wishing lions, he would not leave them undefended or under prepared. Thankfully though the pink lioness didn’t seem to be posing any harm. Deker had watched her from up in the trees as she hunted and then found a shealtered area to sleep for the night. It would seem that she had been speaking the truth when she said she really just looking for a pink lioness. Mittere, she had said the lioness’s name was Mittere. It was a strange name and one Deker was certain he had never heard.
Leaping down from the tree he had spent the night in Deker stretched. Helping his muscles burn off the stiffness from sleeping in a tree. He began to head back out into the plain. He had decided he should talk to the lioness one more time before departed. He hoped that he could help direct her over and around the jungle to wearever it was she needed to be to find this mysterious lioness she thought. He hadn’t found out the reason she sought this lioness but Deker decided it didn’t much matter to him as long as she stayed away from his colony.
Meg yawned as she woke. The pink lioness had actually slept well for the first time in a while. It was surprising really. Ever since she had left her family she hadn’t been able to sleep all that well at night. It was a lot harder to sleep soundly when you didn’t have your siblings and father watching your back as you slept. Instead Meg had to settle for a half sleep while she still listened to the world moving around her at night. Of course she ad known that she had an extra set of eyes on her last night perhaps that is what had helped her sleep. She had spotted the leopard she had spoken to chose to stick around. Not long after he went back into the jungle she saw him leap into a tree near the jungle's edge.
Once she had stretched out and gone and drank from a stream that was running through the plain that she had called home for the night she turned and headed back towards the jungle and the male leopard. “You really don’t trust me do you?” she called up to him as he sat in a tree above her. She had been in a bad mood the day before when they met, hungry and tired of searching for the water that she was sure would have been closer. “I told you I meant no harm and I met it.” she called unable to resist the urge to roll her eyes as she said it. This was one hell of a paranoid leopard.
Deker couldn’t help but smile a little as he lept down from the tree that he had slept in. The lioness certainly seemed to be in a better mood today than she was yesterday and it was a relief. Now seeing her in a better mood Deker felt more secure in the fact that this lioness meant no harm to him or his home. “I had to play it safe.” he said a crooked grin on his face. It had been a long time since Deker had really had a conversation with someone that brought his grin out. Instead his conversations were always about work, or cubs or in some cases both.
“Since I stayed though I thought maybe you might need help making your way around the jungle. I wasn’t kidding when I said that you can’t pass through. My colony wouldn’t tolerate it. Lions are not welcome and would likely be attacked if found any closer than this to the colony.” he told her his serious tone coming back. It was annoying having to be this serious all of the time.

Meg had more respect for the male’s colony than he could possibly have known. The fact that they would attack a larger species was impressive though of course if it was a colony of leopard’s against one lion than that wasn’t bravery at all. Nonetheless she the pink lioness could appreciate a well organized colony, her father had raised her and her siblings in a very similar way.
“Well if it is as serious as you say it definitely sounds like I should be going around. Do you know where the ocean is?” she asked her head cocked to the sight. She was practically flirting with the male leopard it was shameless really but she had been craving the attention of another soul for a while and since this male was willing to pay attention to her she wasn’t going to shoot him down.
“It has been a long time since I was last near the sea but yes I do know where you can find it.” he told her a grin sneaking across his lips again. The lioness wasn’t the only one flirting. It had been awhile since he had received female attention, basically since around the time he had sired his litter of cubs. It was a fairly small colony and he wasn’t exactly the most popular leopard in it seeing has about half of the pride hated him for removing the counsil.
“If you are willing to have my company and me tag along with you than I would be happy to show you the way.” Deker told the female.
Despite herself Meg found a giggle escape her lips. She had never been flirted with before so she was honestly surprised by her reaction to it. “Well I suppose I would be able to tolerate you for that long.” the normally very serious female responded. “Shall we head out now?” she asked ready to get a move on.
“Yes lets, I have things I must get back for but I will see you off safely.” he told her. Sure he would be missed but Deker was taking this chance to do something for him! Little did he know that they weren’t as alone as he had thought. There was another soul whose eyes were on them, and this would cause a lot of trouble for him in the not too distant future.
