Taking a stroll through the halls of Catharstova, Vavara paused when she had reached the balcony overlooking the lands nearby, the city just visible to the east nearby. The young princess took pause to her afternoon walk, turning to gaze at the outlook with trouble thoughts. She still wished to see her parents' deaths avenged, but it conflicted her that the coup that took them from her was just in meaning. During their rule, she probably could have seen that the signs of revolution were ripe to be plucked and turned on their ruling family, had it not been for the ignorance of her youth. She exhaled, furrowing her brows while resting her arms on top of the barrier preventing anyone from being pushed off without a decent struggle. "Gods damn you, Xavier. Why must part of me sympathize with your efforts?" She asked herself, staring at the horizon while her mind struggled to come up with a solution for her trouble filled mind. It was ironic that the last living member of the ruling family could barely help herself, let alone all of Karst. She could feel that other part of her swimming around in the back of her mind, doing its best to try and help her with promises of getting food or maybe making friends with the murderer of her parents, her comforts appreciated, but feeling as if she was speaking to a child about a concept they could not understand. Time began to pass her by, a moment quickly turning into five minutes while she could only cross her arms and wonder all along of her parents had been truly beyond redemption as Karst decided. They had treated her so well, more so than those they ruled over, but the worst part was that the princess could see exactly why the coup happened, even if she did not want to admit it.

"What is the young princess doing out here?" A playful voice inquired. The current king would gracefully float down from the roof above the balcony landing next to her and towering over her. He leaned out over the balcony while looking out at the kingdom he ruled over. "Is everything here to your liking?" Surtr inquired while continuing stare out over the kingdom. His fiery eyes turned to look upon her. She was so small and young and yet she was so wise. It was such a funny thing to see, and Surtr truly enjoyed being around her.

He sighed softly as he knelt down so that he was at eye level with her. "Now that I am king, I do wish to apologize for what happened to your parents..." He said his mouth contorted in a face that made it apparent he felt remorse for what happened. "I was gone during the coup..... I would have liked to prevent any loss of life...." He said with another deep sigh, no child should be without there parents. Surtr understood this better than most. He lost both his the day he was born and because of it many would argue he was half the man he could have been. His sandy blond hair seemed to fall all around but strangely would avoid obscuring his vision. After he said his piece he would shift his gaze back to her it now intent and resolute. "If there is anything I can do to make your life better please let me know....." He said with a soft warm smile before rising back to his full stance.

The little orb of fire was perched on his left shoulder and it seemed to watch her intently as if very curious about the girl and wanting to know more about her.

A sudden voice came from above her, sending the thoughtful princess back into reality as she took a step back and gazed up to be greeted by Surtr. "There you are, Surtr." Her tone still keeping its She had avoided calling him the king as best as she could in her personal life, still having not gotten fully past her father's death. He inquired about whether or not the castle met her standards or not, something of which Vavara cared very little for. The castle could have been reduced to a hut as an outcome of the coup, and she still would have been content. "It is fine, Surtr. No need to worry about the daughter of a failed king and queen..." She remained quiet after that, her faced showing a great deal of pain still as she caught a glimpse of those mysterious eyes of his. Hidden behind the blonde curtain of hair, Vavara couldn't help herself but smile softly as he knelt down to her.

What came next was still painful for Vavara, even if she had to grit her teeth to hide it well enough. Surtr apologized for the death of her parents, the princess looking down momentarily to hide her eyes that showed the sting of loss still present inside of her. It was a wound she hoped would go away soon, but seemed to be taking its time to mend. It was almost ironic that a great life mage could mend any kind of wound, but not the wounds she had present. He paused for a moment, Vavara taking this chance to gently reach out and put a hand on his shoulder. "You did all you could, and I do not blame you for what happened. I'm actually quite glad you're here. It makes me feel easy knowing that the kingdom is in your capable hands." She gave another smile, that confident and stern look he gave her when he would do whatever it was to help her. "I extend the same offer to you, Surtr. It's an honor to watch Karst benefit under your rule." Suddenly, she felt the switch coming alone, Vavara giving a soft sigh before she stared blankly at the king for a moment, almost if she had lost her train of thought. As quickly as it came, her tone changed from an experienced mage to that of a younger princess more fitting to her current appearance. "Thank you for taking care of the nobles and me, Surtr." This part of the princess gave a much more genuine smile before taking note of the little fire hovering above the king's shoulder. She stared back at it with great curiosity, maybe as much as it had about her. "What's that on your shoulder?" Vavara asked as she watched the small flame flicker and remain stationary above Surtr. "Is it another one of your spells?"

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

She seemed distraught, saddened and deservedly so. He would frown as she insisted he not worry about her. A gently poke would coming to her forehead his index and middle finger lightly tapping the girls forehead as if to wake her up from the nonsense she was so intent on believing. "You know as well as I that you are still the princess little one." Surtr said with a smile. He assumed she likely hated that nickname but Surtr couldn't help himself she was just far too cute and the words would just slip from his lips it seemed. "With you the kingdom has no heir. I have no children and I am confident I will never have any. So you are the future of what you see here." Surtr said his smile soft, the gaze he gave her was pride as if he was proud to have one like her helping him.

She spoke about it was all he could have done and he was quite capable for the job. Quite a bit of fluff indeed, she was buttering the man up but something told him the words were genuine. Despite that fact Surtr put very little stock into them quite sure that he wouldn't be do well. "Yes, a royal guard turned Archmage, turned College Elder, and now king.... I suppose I understand almost every role but yours..." He said softly sighing as if longing to be anything but king. He didn't wish to wear this crown, he didn't want to be the one to lead this kingdom. Though it was thrust upon him and until he could find a suitable replacement he would unfortunately have to bear the burden.

As she inquired about it Surtr looked to his shoulder and smirked before scooping it up and once again squatting down so she could get a better look. "This is Saga..." He said holding it at her eye level so she could see. "It is a spell.... a forbidden one actually. I developed it myself but it's far too dangerous for most to try." Surtr said as the little light in his hands seemed to lean forward staring deeply at Vavara. It was acting like it had never seen such a young looking person before, which was partially true. People of Vavara's stature were certainly a rarity. "She watches out for me... she gives me strength which is something I need right now." He said with a playful smirk as if teasing himself about the role he would have.

"There is one thing you could help me with....." Surtr said that trademark sportive little smile across his lips. "I would like you to stop being so formal...." He said wondering what she would say. She was always so good at extending compliments and pleasantries but Surtr didn't need any of that. He didn't care for it actually. She was the princess and it was great that she was a natural at her job but around him he just wanted her to relax to let loose and be herself. He was supposed to be the one person she could just open up to and yet she seemed hesitant too. Surtr fully understood the cause, he was aware of why and she had every reason to. Though still she had asked if she could help and so Surtr would happily tell her. He wore no crown but the king was standing there, he had gotten a rather illustrious title since taking to the throne. It came about as he was developing a new spell at the college. He had been dubbed the sun king. The others on the council insist he get new clothes and since he refused to were a crown the two gold suns were pinned to the collar of his coat this way marking the man to all who could see. Surtr personally didn't care much for the attire but he gave his word he would abide and unfortunately Surtr was slave to that bond.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The gentle prod from Surtr would be enough to calm the princess's fears for the moment being, her eyes travelling up to meet his as smile came to greet her upon arrival. She did not know what it was about the man, but he always seemed to bring her out of the worst of her troubled thoughts, almost like he knew what was plaguing her. Of course, it was most likely that she was not able to hide it was well as others, but still, his company was much appreciated by her. His constant nickname for her, "little one", had been tagged onto her since they met. It annoyed her, but after being exposed to it constantly by him, she came to view it as a little nickname of sorts. She would not hesitate to snap at anyone other than him should they call her something of the same sort. He went on to speak about how it was she that was the future of Karst, doubting his future as king as well as his ability to have any sort of children to take over for the future. It was a rather touchy subject, or at least Vavara guessed it was, and could only respond with "Mm..." Since his rise to power, she had working dutifully to catch up on politics and the like, able to help him should there ever be a case where he would need help from another royal. It cut her time for sleep by a good margin, but such was the life of a princess. She would get enough sleep when the pressing matters ahead were taken care of. Thankfully he hasn't had need of me yet, but I'll still be there for him. She thought to herself as he spoke about his ascendance to the position of King. She could tell that his heart lied anywhere but being king, a fact that she could understand as he was given little choice after it was voted that the position would fall upon his shoulders. A part of her understood that a replacement would be found eventually, leaving him free to do whatever he wish, though a part of Vavara knew how she would react should he choose to leave.

Speaking about the flame that was flowing him around, he went back down to her eye level and showed her, Vavara's eyes widened at the exclusive close up of the flame shown to her. "Saga..." She repeated as he continued to explain what it was. It seemed like Sutr had the same affinity for finding magics that were...less than popular with the general public as she had. It was what made her become what she was now. "What does it do?" She asked, her curiosity causing her to talk without realizing what she said as she could have sworn the flame was staring back at her. He spoke about her and how important she was to her, wondering just exactly who Surtr meant by those words, but remaining quiet as the princess leaned back into a normal stature when she was finished and gave a nod to signal that she was done.

Surtr then spoke about trying to be less formal when around, a concept that was pretty foreign to her thanks to decades of having it hammer into her mind until it was the only thing she could do in most social situations. She gave another troubled look as Vavara could only cross her arms while wondering what exactly to do. While she could follow his wishes and drop her royal charade, she still felt bound by him, as if she was required to keep up this facade for the rest of her days. With a moment to pass in reflection before coming to a decision, she gave a sigh before smiling weakly at Surtr. "Right. I'll try and be less formal then." She agreed, a malicious gleam in her eye. Before the king knew what she was planning on doing, Vavara would quickly step forward and wrap her arms around his body, in an embrace of sorts. It was mostly this side of her that was responsible, her actual one nagging her in the back of her mind, but not totally opposed to the idea. "But that means that I can do this more." Chuckling at her scheme , she looked upwards at Surtr as her smile return to her face. "You're a good person, Surtr. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

She seemed to avoid replying to his words on the subject of inheritance and such it was an odd conversation to have that was for sure. One that could certainly wait for another day if the princess didn't wish to speak on such things today. His eyes would watch her disposition lighten and it only made his smile grow. He loved watching her brighten like seeing a single ray of light pierce through the clouds he knew it meant only more would come soon enough. It was almost contagious he felt himself being warmed by it. Such a wonderful one she was.

She inquisitively asked what Saga does and Surtr smirked. "A great many things.... she lets me bend fire to my will." He said holding out his right hand and as he did fire would swirl out of thin air forming a small tornado in his palm. Closing his right hand it would dissipate. Then he would snap his finger and little sparks would burst out exploding into tiny little puffs of fire like miniature fire works. "The only limit is my creativity..." He said with a smirk enjoying this part very much. "She gives me so much I don't think I could describe it all. If you'd like to see them all I'm sure we could go somewhere less flammable and have some fun." He said playfully as if the prospect of getting to show off his pyrotechnics was an offer he hoped she'd accept. Surtr would love the opportunity to test his capabilities so if Vavara did ever accept he would happily take her out.

She seemed to ponder his request he squatted down in front of her waiting and watching. As usually she surprised him, she moved forward and her arms were around him. Slipping through his guard she embraced him and slipped between his arms with hers around his neck. The little orb of fire in his left hand would turn pink as if embarrassed by what she did. It's eyes would swirl up and about too as the fire would grow for a few moments before dying back down. Surtr's eyes widened too stunned by the move, his right hand found itself on her shoulder sealing the embrace. Surtr didn't remember telling his arm to do that and yet there it was. She was warm and soft, he greatly enjoyed this feeling it was unlike any he had experienced. As she mischievously said it entailed more of these Surtrs smile softened. "I'd like that..." He whispered softly as she looked up at him telling him he was a good person. He would chuckle at these words and his hand would slip off her shoulder and reach around to gently poke Vavara in the forehead. "I still have plenty of time to prove you wrong." He teased playfully. He would brush off such serious talk. She had made enough of an impact on him today he dare not let her continue to better him.

Saga's introduction, explanation, and example astounded the young mage, having a hard time taking hers eyes off the singular flame that rested by Surtr. The display of fireworks could only cause to want to learn more about the magic her king used, the man himself offering to show her more if she wished to. Surtr seemed to be enjoying himself as well, smirking widely for all to see as Vavara nodded in agreement. "I'd love to watch you show me more! Saga and you are interesting. I've been meaning to ask you if you could help me train actually. I wanted to try some different things with my magic." They certainly did make an interesting team, even if she wondered just how powerful Saga could be, and whether or not her own magic would affect the small flame or not. I'll just have to try and look more into this kind of magic when I get a chance. Maybe I'll find something.

As Vavara hugged Surtr, she did not see the flame's color turned to a pinkish color, but did feel his hand cover her shoulder. She gave another tighter squeeze, although was very doubtful if Surtr would be able to tell before ending it as the male said he would enjoy more hugs. Noted. Hug Surtr more. That nagging feeling returned as her other personality continued to berate herself for showing more emotion than normal and most embarrassing of all, hugging a close friend like him. She paid it little mind, still focusing on Saga and the offer extended to her. There came to be another poke on her forehead as she was informed that more time would be needed if he wanted to prove her claim wrong. While it was a joke, Vavara refused to believe, in either side of her, that Surtr could do anything to cause her to take back her word of being good in her eyes. Perhaps it was just her inability to believe a close friend would do her harm, or maybe she could not cope with the fact that people would leave her, but she would simple laugh at the fact and place a hand on his right one resting on her shoulder. "We'll see if we get there. Can we go somewhere so you can show me more spells you can do with Saga?"

He smirked as she continued to deny his claims. He shrugged deciding it was fine. He would not press it more. "Of course.... the courtyard down there.... as for training I'll happily help however I can all you have to do is tell me how." He said implicitly promising to help. If there was one concrete fact about Surtr it was that he owned up to what he said. If he offered to help she would receive help. As she asked to go somewhere to see some spells Surtr smiled softly nodding happily as he turned his head to see the courtyard down below. That would do nicely.

Surtr whirled on his heels still squatted down so that his back was to her now. "Hop on..." He said playfully looking over his shoulder waiting for her to join. He figured normally she would resist such things but right now he thought the opportunity would be too great to resist. Surtr would have to jump hundreds of yards and it would be an extremely fun event so he figured she'd much rather go this way then take all the flights of stairs needed in order to go all the way down. The offer was likely just too tempting at least that was Surtrs opinion. Would she throw out her manners for a moment and have some fun? The king waited to see if the princess would join him.

Happy for Surtr to approve her request to see Saga and him in action, as well as helping her with her own magic, the princess eagerly watched as he presented his back to her, telling her to hop on. Although she could almost hear herself yelling at her to not piggyback on the king's back, Vavara wasted little time in climbing onto his back. NO! NO! No! N!-O! NO! Echoed through her mind as she adjusted her while wrapped her arms around his shoulders and resting her head on his right shoulder. The cascade of dark blonde hair was enough for her to feel safe and secure in his capable hands. "I'm ready, Surtr!" She said, smiling at him while bracing herself for the burst in speed and/or height that she was about to experience. Although she knew that her other side was totally against this, something about it just felt right to her currently. It was nice to break out of the ordinary routine and have a little fun every once in a while, sharing the same outlook as Surtr as if she was his biggest fan. Vavara would then keep on eye on Saga to see if she did anything interesting while they were preparing to launch down to the courtyard, avoiding the time taken to walk down there manually.

As she hopped on and situated herself Surtr smirked playfully and his arms would find themselves under each crook of her knee. A very appropriate place to hold to ensure comfort and safety. He had turned so that he was facing the balcony now the two looking over and seeing the vastness of their kingdom. His excitement was growing. The stone with which this palace was made was more than capable and could handle the fire it was about to experience. His muscles would coil and tighten his body preparing for launch his excitement growing. People often called him a child trapped in a mans body and this upcoming instant would only serve to prove their postulation.

She said she was ready and Surtr looked back to her a playful grin plastered on that face of his. "Here.... we.... go" He whispered as he launched himself upward fire bursting from the soles of his feet like a rocket the two would soar high into the air the view of their kingdom only growing in beauty as the setting sun cast a wonderful light over it. They would continue to shoot up into the sky bursting high up over where they needed to. As they reached the peak of their ascension the view would be breathtaking. The whole kingdom with their view. They would linger at that peak for a moment as if time had suddenly stood still, though such a thing was fleeting. Gravity had other plans and the two would begin to descend.

Surtr had a comfortable but tight grip on her ensuring there was no way she would slip through his fingers. She would even let go with her arms and enjoy this like a rollercoaster and she would not fall away. The two were dive bombing down now the air around them seeming to scream as they pierced it. Surtr at one point would let out a joyous howl loving the wind as it roared over him. The ground was quickly approaching it growing larger and larger as if eager to meet the two. Once they passed the balcony they had leapt from reaching terminal velocity Surtr would whip his feet down and again fire would burst from them creating a steady thrust to decelerate the duo. It was softer than their ascent Surtr didn't want to harm Vavara with the suddenly change in force so he made sure it was a gentle landing.

The two would touch down and Surtr would take in a deep breathe before allowing to leave him slowly as if their joyride had calmed him. He would squat down giving her the opportunity to hop off but if she stayed on he would just pop back up content with her little form atop him. "So there was an example of what Saga can do." Surtr said with a smirk as he could feel the little light atop his head burning brighter proud by its handy work.

Feeling Surtr lock his around around her while she was piggybacking him, there came a sudden rushing feeling as her mount had taken off from the balcony there were both on, as if some explosion had sent them both flying high into the sky. It took her completely by surprise, expecting more of a pause between the word "go" and the action of propelling themselves into the air so suddenly. Her grip on Surtr tightened, trusting in his ability to make sure nothing had happened to her. He had never let the family down before, so why should now be any different? It reminded Vavara of her younger days, when a servant or, on the rare occasion, her mother or father would carry her around on their backs. While not exactly matching the current sensation of flying into the air, there were enough similarities for her to connect the two together. "Wooooooo!" She yelled as they rocketed into the sky, her hair wildly flying along with the burst of speed like a white trail following a comet.

When they had reached the apex of their jump, the girl's eyes caught glimpse of the majority of the kingdom, the sunset making it appear as if it was something out of a still life painting. It was one of the most beautiful sights that Vavara had seen of the kingdom and her people. Absolutely breathtaking. Is this the power of Saga or Surtr? She shot an excited look at the king, having not smiled that wide in what seemed like decades. After a moment or so of that spectacular view, the two slowly began to descend back towards the ground. The hills and city roofs of Karst were swallowed by the distant hills and terrain that surrounded them as Vavara would treasure the sight for as long as she was able to. It was then they noticed that they seemed to be having some kind of problem that entailed falling to the ground about as fast as they were soaring above into the sky. The wind was howling around them, the princess held onto her steed as tight as she was able to as Surtr let out a cheerful yell as they seemed intent on speeding into the solid ground that was quickly approaching them. Too fast! Too fast! Unable to look at the scene before her, too filled with fear and anxiety, Vavara turned her head and nuzzled it into Surtr's cloak as she felt the king's stance alter slightly before they began to slow down from the fall. Once his feet touched down on the surface, Vavara would poke her head to check out and see if the two of them had died.

He bent down to let her off, though the princess would not let go even if she had wanted too. She looked as if she had enjoyed the ride and demonstration of what Saga could do, but had left her mind back up in the sky about what had just transpired. She slowly turned her head towards the man, gleefully applauding Saga's power. "That was so..." There came another blank stare as Vavara's personality returned, although it seemed that she paid little mind to her current position. "Wonderful! We were flying into the air so gracefully! The view of the kingdom was to die for! Oh, how I wonder if Marianna or the royals will ever see something as beautiful as that!" She hugged Surtr while continuing on with her summary of the events. "You were like "WOOSH!" and then we floated and then we almost hit the ground, but Saga was "FWOOSH!" and..." The sudden realization of what she had just said hit her, clearing her throat as a slight pink hue took itself on her cheeks. "Thank you for the explanation, Surtr, and then you, Saga, for for the demonstration. You both are quiting interesting."

As she regaled him with her telling of the event Surtr chuckled softly smitten by her words. She asked if Marianna would ever see something and he smiled looking back at her before rising and hiking her up so she was now higher on his back making it easier to talk. "We can take her sometime I'm sure." He said with a soft smile as he just began to walk through the courtyard and into the nearby forest. Some of the guards seemed hesitant but Surtr was an unorthodox king. He had been a royal guard, he had been the archmage, and on top of that the college elder. For the first time in all of Karsts history its ruler had held positions of great respect and power before ascending to the throne. Vavara couldn't be in safer hands and so they allowed the two space.

As she continued to talk about it and speak of the events Saga seemed brighten and burn brighter beaming with pride at the words Vavara had said. Then suddenly that dull dreary Vavara came back he could see the flush hue on her cheeks and smiled softly such a cutie she was. His right arm would slip out from holding her and come around to gently poke her forehead before returning to its place of hold her up. "Let me know when the fun version comes back out... little one" Surtr teased playfully as they walked through the grounds now allowing the cool breeze to gently kiss the two. "I could show you more, that was just meant to be the appetizer. Saga allows me to do pretty much anything with fire. She's quite amazing." He said giving credit where it was due. He was not slouch himself but still she was the final piece of the puzzle and he wouldn't dare take that away from the little light.

"So what would you propose next? We could return to the palace and get some food? Whatever you desire we can do." He said with a cheerful smile glancing over his shoulder to look upon the princess to see what she would like. He had been around Vavara her whole life he surmised few if any knew her better than he did. After leaving the royal guard he didn't get to see her as much but it was funny the way the world worked. Now the two would be spending a great deal more time together. Their roles intertwined and what they did together now paramount to the future of the kingdom they lived within.

I'll defend my people from harm...

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Continuing to blush as Surtr propped her up further on on his shoulders so she could speak without the threat of getting a mouthful of yellow hair in her mouth, Vavara would silently protest being treat like some child and not the princess of the kingdom, though she was fairly certain it was the reason why he was doing this in the first place. The forehead poke and question about when the "fun" version of her would come back only further cemented this idea in her head. I AM the "fun version". I'm not little either, just...vertically challenged. Huffing to herself, the two began on a walk into the forest while she tried to straighten her hair back to how it was without a comb, a task that was proving futile as strands refused to stay down when he combed her fingers through them. "Saga does appear to be very powerful. I'm sure she's a wonderful asset to your list of magics." She said in agreement, doing her best to prevent from scolding Surtr for continuing to hold her as if he was taking his younger sibling through the forest on a walk. It wasn't like she liked the feeling of it or anything.

The question was what would they do next. She thought a while, happy to have something on her mind besides this excursion before settling upon one. "Well, I suppose this could be a good time to practice my own magic, if we're showing each other what we can do specifically." She offered, forgetting her father's staff back at the palace, but there would be little need of it now. While it was a valuable tool in combat, it was mainly to help the other "her" focus upon her own magic pool so she wouldn't have so much problem summoning it. "Then afterwards, we could good back and eat a meal or something." The breeze that blew was a nice reminder of why she loved the castle being so close in proximity to the forest. It was so peaceful and she frequently requested somebody to escort her when she made trips out here. Some guards even joked that it was the reason why she was very invested with life magic. Her room overlooking the gardens was nice, but she would rather have a lovely view of the hidden treasures that lied under the canopy of this place.

A random thought entered her mind, causing her to look down at Surtr and Saga. "Surtr, may I ask you a question?" She said, looking lost in thought as she hoped she could get a helpful answer out of the king. She would even do her best to control herself when somebody spoke ill of the previous king and queen, a well known berserker button for the small mage. "My parents...Were they ever like Xavier and his troops said they were?" Her tone sounded curious, but had a hint of worry and frustration in it. Ever since she had learned of the misfortunes and seedier acts they had done as rulers, she found it hard to see them as who they were outside of being her parents. Vavara plopped her head down on top of Surtr, furrowing her brows. "I don't know whose side I should be on either. They were well hated by Karst, but they were also my parents. They did their best to make me feel as normal as I could, but when I hear about what they've done..." The young princess trailed off, watching as a couple of leaves floated by as they gently rode the wind to carry them away from the forest and towards whatever exciting adventure that was to be had. "It's difficult." She concluded, unsure of what else to describe the feeling that she was experiencing.

But who will protect me?...

Location : Grounds by the castle
Company : Vavara...
Feelings : Playful...

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

She proposed she show him magic and in turn her teach her some stuff. A rather ideal proposition considering their secluded location as well as the fact that it was unlikely that anyone would interrupt their little training."A splendid idea. Work up an appetite then feed the machine." Surtr said with a smirk he often spoke casually like this unorthodox for a king by Surtr never cared for such things anyway.

He came to a clearing in the forest and would stop deciding this an ideal place engage in their training. Though the little one piped up asking permission to pick his brain. "Oh? Of course Vavara ask away." He said looking back over his should to her it seemed their encounter would take a serious turn. She began her question and Surtr did not interrupt her. He had wondered when this would come. He knew it would be addressed. The elephant in the room wouldn't be forgotten so easily. As she finished he sighed softly trying to collect his thoughts in an appropriate manner.

In a smooth motion he rotated his hips and shoulder spinning Vavara around so he was now holding her in front of him. He sat down with his legs crossed and her now in his lap. If anyone walked by and didn't know the pair they would certainly think a father and daughter were enjoying an early evening together. He looked to her now and brushed a strand of her from her face. "As you know I was a royal guard for your parents... and you." He said gently bopping her nose as if to give a moment of lighthearted fun before their discussion began. "Your parents were human like the rest of us.... they had their flaws but I do not believe they were bad people." Surtr said looking to her now his eyes obviously saddened. "What I see as so great about this kingdom is the fact that Karst at its core was built to further knowledge. The intended purpose of our kingdom was to become a melting pot of all races where they come to share and learn with one another." Surtr said with a soft smile it being obvious a bit of pride welling up within him.

"Your parents lost sight of that vision and felt it in the best interest of Karst to change its ways. Unfortunately such an idea cannot change thousands of years of tradition over night..... people see what they want to see. They think your parents were trying to ruin Karst but in your parents eyes they were just trying to protect the things they loved." Surtr said with a soft smile looking to Vavara now. Did he answer her question right? They were very complicated topics and ideals he was unsure of what he said would have sufficed. Though with the way he was holding her and embrace would quickly follow if she seemed troubled by what he had said. Surtr personally agreed with the revolution but he found the execution of the plan very poorly executed. If he was there he could have maybe done something to prevent the suffering of this child.
