Physical Description: Rhey is average height and maybe a little overweight. It makes him a little less in shape than most other Candidates but he's working on getting better. He has messy brown hair that tends to stay in his dark blue eyes. He keeps one portion of his hair longer than the rest and in a braid as his way of honoring his mother who recently passed giving birth to his half-sister. He also wears her favorite necklace, but intends to give it to his younger sister when she's old enough to take care of it. He prefers long sleeved shirts, or short sleeves with separate sleeves and loose pants he can tuck into his boots. He loves to wear bold or rich colors as those are his favorite dyes to mix. His hands are permanently stained from his work with the dye materials.
Personality: Back at Southern Boll, he was fairly relaxed and had a few friends he could have a good time with outside of lessons and such. Here at High Reaches, he's much more shy and reserved. He doesn't know many people and it makes him a little nervous. It doesn't affect his ability to learn, but it means he doesn't have any friends just yet and isn't sure how to go about making some.
He's not the bravest of men, but he's not one to shirk what he perceives as his responsibility. Rhey is not a take charge kind of person, and prefers to follow in the wake of more leader-like people. If pushed, he could lead but he'd rather not. He's loyal to a fault, and courteous to everyone he meets.
History: Born to a journeyman weaver and a visiting greenrider, Rhey just knew he always wanted to go into the Weavercraft just like his mother. He knew who his father was, but when he was young dragons scared him a little because they were sooo big. Even the green his father rode was huge to young Rhey. So he was quite happy to enter his mother's craft as an apprentice at eight turns old. He quickly found his niche in the craft as an aspiring dye master.
At 17 turns, just a month after Thread began to fall again, Rhey was Searched. He was terrified, but he wanted to make his parents proud of him. He knew his mother would have been proud no matter what he did, but he also knew his father would be ecstatic to have his son at the Weyr as a Candidate and possibly a fellow dragonrider. He had long since grown out of his fear of dragons because of their size and while Thread was extremely frightening to him, he knew that Pern would need all the fighters it could get. So all of that, plus wanting to be closer to the parent he has left, influenced his decision to become a Candidate.
Other: His half-sister will stay in the creche at Southern Boll.
