Have any of you here recieved abuse for liking Jrock or Visual Kei? I actually get it quite often. I mean, if it isn't someone talking about how freaky they look it is about how stupid i am for liking it....
Examples
--Namecalling
--Binder-theft
--Continous Looks
--Behind the back chatter
--Pointing
It angers me much and i was wondering if i was alone in the matter.

My family annoys me to no end on it.
My friends are cool with it, actually one of my friends said she hated her other friends because they called Gackt a girl. I heart her, but I have gotten over people calling them girls. I'm just waiting for someone to say something to me at school now that I have my notebook and folders covered in pictures.
It is a bit sad when your mother makes fun of you for liking j-rock. gonk
And I don't care if people take behind my back because they don't have the balls to say it to my face. (I hope I'm not using a 'bad' word I'll change it if it offends anyone!)

Other than s**t my brother does to annoy me (calling them gay, etc), I don't get much trouble from people. My mom likes some of it, but I don't think she quite understands the visual aspect.
But, then again... it was just shortly after I had gotten into J-Rock that I ended up dropping out of school, so I never had much of a chance to spread it around school. Though, during one class, pictures got passed around the room, they couldn't believe they were guys...
I don't think anyone made fun of me for it, unless it was just behind my back. I think they were still too much in shock/weirded out to make any comments like that... it was pretty cool that a couple guys listened to it, even if it was just DuelJewel... ^-^;
If I had stayed in school, I can guarantee you I would have been teased/abused for it... as if they didn't have enough to tease me about already. -_-;;

You got me into jrock after I got out of school so naturally I couldn't have been teased for it..of course there were plenty of reasons why I was teased. >>; I do think that I would have been teased for liking jrock so i'm glad i'm out of high school..

I am also out of highschool. Here, if you go to Harajuku than anything goes. Anything is ok, and everyone knows who Gackt is xd . For Gackt is not just a singer here, he does a whole bunch of commercials for this candy (I forget what its name, I press my face on TV and scream GACKT!) He advertises that you can get a "Gackt" style Visa card =B... So here is you say you like Gackt the girls are like "=P He's so cool!" and the guys roll their eyes because they know they will never achieve Gackt's God status. A LOT of people understand the like for L'Arc en Ciel. But as for visual kei, it's maybe like mainstream vs gothic/punk in North America. So you have a load of people who like it, a bunch that just don't understand it. There's never any conflict though :/. We also have the Shibuya district "yamamba" girls that just makes the visual kei people look SANE xd example;  ...so if anyone points out at me being all visual kei like, I point at them and say.."Go bother them" xd

I can understand tans but they look like they woke up and rubbed vegtable oil all over themsleves. *washes them*

my family actually likes j-rock (yes, even my mom) but thats just cuz we're cool like that. but i hate it when someone asks me what i'm listening to and i tell them japanese music . after that they just look at me funny......and i end up giving them the single finger salute (I think we all know what that is....hehe bad influence of j-rockers)

VampireShinigami Oh, I know those commercials... I've seen a couple of them. C-Care and E-Ma, I think they are? And the ganguro girls creep me out a little bit. D: It's not a commercial...it's like..a fashion movement. There are 100's of girls and guys (guys is yamembo) who dress like this and hang out in Shibuya. They also have magazines aimed at them D:. Yamamba is the japanese name for "mountain witch". There's a legend that she had black skin and light hair, wore white eye make-up and lipstick. The men would be curious of her appearance then she'd catch them and eat them eek . There are stepping stones..I think it's like..gyaru/gyaruo (girl and guy name)- ganguro-> yamamba. It's an evolution. So they tan their skin as dark as possible- it takes like, 3 hours for them to dress up (fake eyelashes, contact lenses, all that makes up and glitter, 5 inch malibu platforms). A lot of times they kinda smell bad gonk . I'm not saying it to be mean but they take so long to make themself up that they go to bed like that and try and make the look last as long as possible. Also about 98% of them have loads of fake hair extensions eek
