Physical Description: Kindu has a heartshaped face and cherbic smile, an upturned nose. He freckles and has lightly tanned skin. He has fine, sandy brown hair that falls over his ears and sometimes into his eyes in tufts.
Personality: An imaginative boy, Kindu is most often seen by himself. Not that he minds! Oh no, he seems to prefer it. He seems the sort of lad that enjoys his own imagination more than playing with children his own age. When not exploring the depths of his mind; when not on a trip to the Red Star on the back of his mighty bronze, when not swimming with dolphins, when not single handedly vanquishing Thread forever and saving Pern; the small boy partakes in daily activities. Though he participates, he should not be expected to focus on what he is doing--or rather, he should be, but those expecting such behavior will be disappointed. Kindu's mind is very rarely on the here and now.
Kindu is almost always looking up. Figuiratively, that is. This boy looks to his future. If asked, Kindu will happily inform those with the inquiry of what he plans to do when he's older. A bronzerider dolphiner harper!
Like most young boys his age, Kindu does not yet seem to grasp the concept of time; nor the concept that he may not be as invincible as he believes. Nor that of the concept that he may not be able to do everything he dreams. His mind is set firmly on his ideals; he will become the first dragonrider dolphiner harper ever. Unfortunately for him, four turn old boys cannot Impress. Nor can they be apprenticed. Nor are they allowed to swim as far as he'd like. Nor are they allowed to explore the Weyr on their own.
And so, he turns to his imagination. To dreams, where he can do beyond the rational. Where a four turn old boy can be a bronzerider, a harper, and a dolphineer; where days are as long as they seem and only end when he wants them to. Kindu gains information by listening to older weyrbrats, from dragonriders, from candidates. He listens to conversations, and from these, his imagination takes flight.
Kindu may exclude himself from other children at times, prefering to immerse himself into his imagination. This does not mean he interacts poorly with others. If interested in a subject, this Weyrbrat can be just as noisily curious concerning certain subjects (dolphins, dragons, thread, harpers, dragons, music, dragons, fishercraft) as any other child his age. When he does interact with children his age, he may attempt to bring them into his imagination; to invite them to play with him there for a while.
History: Kindu was born to Western Weyr and placed in the creche as soon as he was weaned. His mother was a plump woman who worked in the Weyr kitchens at the time and fell in love with a blue rider. Neither of them were particularly interested in children. By the time she realized she was pregnant, with the backpains and strange cravings that persuaded her to see a healer, she was too far into the pregnancy to take a short flight between.
She wanted nothing to do with the baby, when Kindu arrived. She saw that he was properly named and had enough interest in the wellfare of the infant to see that he would be cared for. The fact remained that he had been unplanned. It was an unwanted change, the pregnancy. The woman, though kind, preferred to keep such things as they always had been. Like a tried and true recipe.
Kindu grew, perhaps oblivious to his unwanted arrival.
Other: Talents: Kindu is talented at sharing ideas and making up stories on a whim. Perhaps he would be a good harper.
