It was a relatively warm day, and Tybalt happened to have a large break between classes. Naturally they didn’t want to spend that free time stuck indoors if they didn’t have to. As soon as they were released from their last class, the geist had immediately head for the grassy field near the greenhouse. Once outside they set their things down under a tree, then began stretching. They wanted to try to walk on their hands today- they’d seen it on TV the night before and thought it looked really cool! But they also didn’t want to hurt themself- Kirket had recently taught their class that stretching before lots of physical activity was important, after all.

Naoya was bored. So very, very bored. He didn’t like the long break between classes, mostly because Lobelia didn’t have the same break, so he was alone. And he didn’t like being alone, oh no. Unsure of what to do, he wandered outside onto the field near the greenhouse. Sometimes Corben was outside doing funny things, and that was always entertaining… but, not today it seemed. Instead the bakeneko spotted someone else doing something interesting… Well, he had nothing else to do. He made his way over, eventually figuring out that the other kid was doing stretches.
”What’cha doin’?” He tilted his head, tail flicking behind him as he watched the geist loosen up their arms.

Tybalt had been concentrating hard on making sure they stretched properly and hadn’t quite registered that the pink figure on the lawn was coming towards them until the question had been asked. They blinked, then looked over, slowly registering that it was one of the kids from their last class… what was his name? They couldn’t remember. Oh well, he’d asked a question and they were going to answer it. ”Stretchin’. What’re you doin’?” They quirked a brow right back at the other kid, and pushed themself up to their feet.

An obvious answer. Naoya snorted, grinning a little. ”Well yeah you’re stretchin’, I can see that. But why are you stretchin’?” He set his bag down on the ground, deciding this was probably going to be the most interesting thing he’d do between classes. ”You’re Tybalt right??” The names of kids at this school were so hard to remember sometimes… Most of the names back home weren’t like this. Though that just made things more interesting he supposed. He'd had some real trouble pronouncing some of them, but he supposed they also had trouble pronouncing his name, too.

”Yep, I’m Tybalt.” Tybalt nodded in response, then laced their fingers together in front of them before raising their arms over their head. Ah, yes. A little burn meant stuff was getting stretched out. They held for 10 seconds before releasing the pose. ”I’m gonna walk on my hands, that’s why.” They grinned, amused by the other kid’s surprised look. ”I forgot your name, what is it?” They might as well fess up to not remembering. There were too many kids at this school to remember all of them after all. Though, they supposed the naga tended to be more memorable than the bakeneko if only because they had like... actual snake bodies. Hard to miss that.

”Naoya. You can do that??” Normally Naoya would have had some fun with his name- he frequently introduced himself as ‘Nyaoya’ to new people because it made him sound even more cat-like, which was pretty awesome if he did say so himself. Plus people usually laughed, and he rather liked making them laugh. ”I wanna see that. I can’t do handstands yet, just headstands. For a little bit.” Well, he could go longer with headstands if he wanted but his ears usually started hurting after a few minutes, so he ended up having to stop early. Curse those ears... Well, not really, they were cute. Just painful to do headstands on.

”I’m gonna try anyway. I’m pretty good at handstands.” Tybalt nodded, then swung their arms around in circles for a few seconds. Right. Everything felt pretty loosened up and ready to go… They breathed in deeply, then sighed slowly. Time to test this. They leaned forward, hands spread wide as they transferred all of their weight from their feet to their hands. They lifted their legs up, managing to get them totally in the air and then-- then--.... Carefully they raised one hand, then moved it forward, quickly followed by the second. They managed to take about four “steps” before toppling over. ”Haha! That’s harder than it looked!” Oh man, they were going to have to practice that move for sure.

Naoya perked up as soon as Tybalt went into the handstand. He watched the geist take a few “steps” forward, then topple over. Of course, this warranted some applause! He clapped his hands together, grinning widely. ”That was pretty good! Can you do cartwheels too?? My cousin is teaching me how to do those.” He scooted away from his bag, then did a demonstration just in case Tybalt didn’t know what a cartwheel was… well, it was sort of a cartwheel. He lost momentum and ended up falling over right as his feet went up in the air. ”Whoops…!” He giggled as he pushed himself up and looked over at Tybalt.

Oh boy, this kid was another active one. That was good! Tybalt had come to realize that a lot of kids were more into like… books and stuff… which were great ‘n all, but not at all Tybalt’s strong suit. ”Oh yeah! I can do that.” He nodded as he watched Naoya try - and fail - to do a cartwheel. He couldn’t help but laugh along. ”You gotta start out with more speed or you’re just gonna fall over y’know.” They raised their hands, then spun themself into a near perfect cartwheel in demonstration. ”See? Like that.”

Naoya watched as Tybalt effortlessly cartwheeled after him. He’d have to get Amatus to teach him some more… Tybalt made it look so easy! ”Is it really just speed?” He asked as he pushed himself up to his feet. He considered this for a moment, then launched himself into a faster cartwheel and….. Managed to complete a lopsided one, but them promptly faceplanted into the grass. He pushed himself up, snorting in laugher. ”Okay, maybe just speed is a bad idea.” He looked back to Tybalt, who was also laughing. ”You wanna teach me how you do it?” He grinned widely. This was going to be the most entertaining class break he’d had in a long time!
