Lace's home in Sera's closet was probably the best place that she had ever been in. Though her life was very young as a kitten after all...but he had taken extra care in making her home nice and he gave her treats and she really really really liked him.
So when thunder cracked outside, and she could see flashes of light and it scared her, she ran from her small closet bed, straight into Jericho's bed.
"Jericho...Jericho...." she pawed at the boy, rubbing her face against his shoulder. "Jericho, it's scary."

There wasn't much of an issue to him to have the guardian rooming in his closet. She wasn't exactly huge, and if anything it'd given him new projects to focus on in his downtime, or when he just didn't want to think about the routes his life seemed to be following.
He'd begun working on plans to build new shelving and storage units in his closet, that would also provide comfortable hidey-holes for Lace to utilize as she saw fit. Two birds, one stone--making sure his closet, limited though it was, was properly organized, while ensuring the guardian had her space and room to continue to add to her space. Including areas to store candy, or anything else that struck her fancy. His desk was littered with papers as he worked out ideas for how to make a cat door, of sorts, for the window, or other ways to make it easy for her to get in and out the room without him having to just leave the window open indefinitely. Not a bad thing in the warmer weather--and really, he didn't care in the winter either--but it drove up the heating costs and he saw little reason to burden Melinda and David with that.
Still, the window was cracked open a bit beside his bed, well greased that even a tiny kitten could perch on the wide sill and push it open further to squeak out. Wide enough of a gap to let in some of the cool night air and the soothing sound of rain... inadvertently, the sounds of the storm, as well.
The sound of thunder barely hit him, but the tiny voice and sensation of fur against his bare shoulder woke him far more effectively. "Hm? Lace? What's up?" Laying on his back, he looked with sleep blurred eyes to the kitten, pushing himself up on one elbow to peer around the room while rubbing gently at her head with the other hand. The loose white tank and top of his lounge pants were exposed as the covers were jostled. Wearing clothing to bed had been immediately deemed required soon as Lace moved in.
Another strike of light and resounding roll of thunder made him give a snort, looking back at her curiously. "You're alright, it won't get you in here. I can close the window if you want?"

She didn't quite seemed bothered by to the lack of clothing, since the boy seemed to run hot but as his attention was quickly woken to her needs, she curled into his hand, her purrs coming out as little chirps.
"The storm outside." She moved over to his side, and curled as close as she could with the boy, her tail coming protectively around her body. Another flash had her ears flattening and her whole body shook.
"It...It's just...It's just that...." Lace stuttered, "I use to be alone sometimes...so...so this is scary." She brought her paws up over her ears as if to stop the sound. "S...Sorry...I can...I can go back to my...my room."
