What is the true purpose behind a knight? Simple military dogs that bow to the current ruling king? Weapons to be wielded in battle? Or trusted friends serving the needs of another? Perhaps you already know this answer. But, do they?

This is a tale of two Knights, meeting together but not for the first time. That was a time of war and desolation. Now they meet under the simple task of enjoying a meal while two royalties discuss further talks of trade and business.

Still on guard as always but promised to be at ease, what will happen next..?

Independent roleplay between Benji-bent and Surtr.

Formalities had already happened the royalty had made their introductions and like a good boy Surtr dipped his head subtly. He didn't care for these things but it was a little requirement for him to be able to travel the land freely. Though these babysitting missions were tiresome. After finishing the formalities he immediately sat down and ordered some food. Eating was one of the best parts, these inns and keeps had food unlike the homeland. Plus he was joined by an old friend, a familiar face and one he'd like to get to know more.

"So we meet again." He said playfully with a smirk as his food came. His crow had been glued to his shoulder since they had arrived. The aromas of his food had traveled upward and a warm smile crept across his lips. His crow hopped inward towards his neck obviously wanting some of the food. Surtr shook his head before cutting a piece of his bacon and passing it up. The crow chomped it down before hopping up and down on his shoulder. "That's all for now, go up and do your job." He said in a low tone almost as if annoyed. His finger flicked up to the rafters signaling that he wanted it to go there. It promptly flew up and sat in the rafters seeming to disappear into the shadows of it within a few moments.

"So how have you been since we last met? Anything exciting happen?" He inquire as he began to cut the thick slice of bacon and promptly scarf it down. After a few moments he switched to his bowl of chicken pot pie. The warmth of the food as it went down was phenomenal. He quenched his thirst with mead before preparing for round too. Although it appeared he wasn't paying attention the Mage was able to observe all through his crow. His black feather coat seemed to dance a bit in the light of the fire giving him almost a haunted feel. His pale skin only added to the effect. The one thing that spoke out against this was the muscle definition. He had a nice layer atop him that was defined and chiseled uncharacteristically so for a mage. With the lack of a shirt that Surtrs upper half was for the most part revealed allowing any and all who wished to see.

...When my blades fail me...

The noise was filled with excitement and revelry. Those here to celebrate and be merry were doing just that as the business and merchant type attended to their own devices. Guard duty was still expected but the two races attending were in good favor. Mages and Elves simply making the routine agreements and formality visit. A middle ground place with middle to upper class ranking folks. A few cheers and bolstering laughs sounded out as the tables and booths sounded before a figure notably groaned from it all. Hands folded together in front of emerald eyes that had a dull haze to them, white hair resting down slightly and always uneasy posture evident as Androk waited for food to arrive.

Her eyes scanned about from side to side, her noteworthy dual blades seemingly absent from her sides and her typical shoulder armor was missing as well. Her attention shifted immediately as someone sat beside her, eyes glancing over before she gave a small acknowledged bow of her head to Surtr. "Indeed. Working the overtime I see." she stated before giving the crow a small nod as well. Her expression was unmoving, the typical deadpan stare evident as always as her food arrived. Barely even taking a glance at it she dug her utensils in, making short work of her meal while still glancing about.

His small order to his ally caused her to shift towards him slightly, leaning just enough towards him to mumble some information to him. "Elf in the back left has a hidden blade in his back left inner jacket. Usual security. Mage two tables down has a wand tucked in their sleeve. Seems to be heat based with some reinforced padding on the inside. Usual paranoia with these meetings. Don't seem the least bit ready to go unless something comes up." she relayed without much of a change to her attitude before returning to the dish before her. Soon as she finished it Surtr seemed to ask how she'd been doing.

"You know. Routine guard duty and such. Royal family is coming along and branching out. Haven't gotten much freedom to roam as you so the trainee routine has been my free time. Poor recruits this year are lacking the drive. That's what peace brings." she stated in an almost irritated fashion as she let her hands rest on the table again before her head tilted to Surtr. "Broke one of their arms just sparring. They even have a practice blade and he still couldn't keep his defense up from me." she mumbled before an audible sigh escaped. "So for me. It's been the same as last visit you had. Not enough excitement to warrant a story. How about yourself? Anything exciting happen for the Crow?" she asked, throwing on a minor nickname she granted him a long while back.

The people around them had given them both ample space at this point, the stories and rumors of the two in their shared experiences in battle granting many of those around them plenty of reason to give them space. Royal Knights of different factions conversing wasn't unheard of, just different than the norm.

Surtr let out a playful chuckle as he could see Androk still fully on guard. What a stick in the mud she was. Still Surtr found the juxtaposition of their personalities to be quite enjoyable. "I'm gonna get you to loosen up one of these days" He teased taking another bite of his food. He dare not bump of shove her when she was one such guard at least not when he was so poorly positioned to defend her reflexes. "You know me, if I'm not traveling whatever I'm doing must be a waste of time. So I might as well babysit these lords and ladies to get an excuse to sneak out...." He spoke, though in truth it was a bit of a lie. Surge came and went as he pleased and he was sure his old friend knew that. Still though he'd never openly admit to his misconduct, admitting guild was the best way to get punished something Surtr avoided at all costs.

As she diligently pointed out the ones who were misfavorable in the room a playful smirk crept across his lips. "Those keen eyes never fail.... The little one is seeing all, plus I have a seal on mine. I'll be able to get to him before anyone" he said with a bit of a cocky tone. "There's a were off in the corner too...she's trying to hide but I can always tell." he whispered leaning in slowly as to not draw any reaction that could result in his harm. A playful wink accompanied his whispered his fiery eyes seeming to dance in the dully lit inn.

"I'd be surprised if anyone could keep up with you in a spar." he said with a hearty laugh as he finished his meal. He slid the plates to the side while taking a refill on his mead. Surtr always drank on the job. It made others underestimate him. His extremely high tolerance for liquor served him well on these missions. "This old crow hasn't been up to much... Another did managed to join this crew." He said sliding his finger up under his necklace to bring into focus, the necklace was an ebony string littered with claws and teeth. Most were from different sources and there was at least one from a dragon, vamp, and were. Others thought it was a way for Surtr to display his strength but in truth this was how he remember and honored the strongest he fought. To be on this necklace meant whoever it was had done something extraordinary in their battle.

"Mighty old dragon.... requested his final battle be against me.... how couldn't I honor such a thing? Surtr inquired. He truly wished to know. Taking life of magnificent things was one of the few things he hated and yet he felt if he disrespected the culture of another race like that it would bring such dishonor to both parties. There was a solemn tone in his voice as he asked the question but it quickly faded as his trademark playful smirk had plastered itself back on.

"So.... has any man dared to you court you yet? I imagine the day the one who succeeds will have the power to rule us all." Surtr teased gently, yet again a staple in his behavior. He considered Androk to be a good friend and as such was a bit more liberal with speaking his mind. Though he did tread carefully. A woman such as her was not to be poked and prodded too much.

This man's always spoke in a manner that Androk just couldn't fully take in. Loosen up? She was plenty loose when the time called for her to be. But his comment didn't fall into deaf ears as she let her vision scan the room once more. "I wish you luck in your mission." she responded as she tilted her head towards Surtr to listen to his little story. "Speaking of travel. You manage to get your globe wide tour any further along lately? You always mention this floating waterfall islands to the southwest after all." she mentioned with a idle hand shifting to grab a tankard, a good draw from it before he mentioned the were.

Behind her drink she nodded a little. "Doubt they'll do anything stupid with this crowd about. The staff help alone shake enough in their boots from these meetings as is. Do keep an extra eye on the server by the bar top. She's a were as well. Bunny ears." she motioned slightly with her eyes as she set her drink down and exhaled slightly. She saw his wink but didn't react from it, eyes the usual dull hue as she let a blink pass the moment by. "They certainly can't in their state now. It's frustrating." she commented before glancing to his ever so famous necklace he adorned himself with. She did note the new addition to his jolly band. "Was it honorable? Didn't just lean his neck down in his old age and throw out his back or anything?" she asked, doing something many if not everyone save for a few in the actual Royal family ever got to see her do. She joked. It was dry and the delivery was terrible but, she did try a small jest as she leaned back and folded her arms across her chest.

"No. And if they've tried I've payed it little mind. If they can't give me a good match in a spar I doubt their actions elsewhere would be any bit more impressive." she spoke, blunt and truthful as she let her eyes rest straight ahead with an audible sigh sounding. A groan perhaps at the thought of it or perhaps his little joke. Androk was hard time read with jokes and humor. Which is why most avoided the thought entirely save for the Princess or Queen. "How about yourself. Find a nice and quiet abode to fly back to every so often for a warm embrace and 'you'll never believe the time I had today!'. Cozy little house on the side of a hill overlooking a village?" she proceed to return his little jabs and inquiries. That's something Surtr had over some when it came to conversation with Androk. He'd earned the privilege to joke and tip toe around her with words because she respected him as a warrior enough to allow it. Both Royal guard and Knights meant equal ground, apart from the battles they'd shared beside each other.

"I haven't gotten to anywhere worth noting since the last time we spoke.... Perhaps if you ever took a day off I would take you there." Surtr teased softly though the offer certainly stood. If she ever did wish he would certainly take her. As she took a draw of her tankard Surtr finished his mead and awaited for it to be refilled. "I don't believe any of them would either. Far too much fire power in here for anyone to make a move..... Still can't help but hope. Would be a sight to see you in action again." He smirked quietly reminiscing at the prowess his companion had in combat. She was truly a force to be reckoned with and Surtr definitely enjoyed watching such power.

As she made a joke Surtrs eyes widened for a moment before allowing a hearty laugh to escape his lips. The dry humor that Androk let out perfectly meshed with Surtrs sense of humor. It was fantastic and a rare occurrence at that part. "It was very honorable, a wondrous battle on a mountain top. He was quite formidable and in the end accepted death with pride." Surtr said staring into his cup reliving the glory he experienced earlier. It was a feeling he was helpless too. He fought whenever it was a good battle he had to. He couldn't help it.

As she spoke of men Surtr perked up looking to her. "So a good warrior is the only requirement? Combat is the best way to court you?" He chuckled jesting in return as if to see if he could poke a little fun through that armor. "I have had the company of several, though no one worthy of having a home to return to.... Besides most aren't looking for that when they come to me..." He said with a soft chuckle taking a deep long drink of his mead after it was filled returning her joke with his own. Despite how true it was Surtr never tended to dwell on the past for long. "So what's after this. You do get R&R in that kingdom of yours right?" He inquired unintentionally asking if she was going to have any free time in the future. Surtr himself loved adventure and a woman like Androk was a desirable companion. Someone who's strength rivaled if not surpassed his was someone you'd want to have with you.

...When my blades fail me...

Androk seemed a bit disappointed to hear that the crow hadn't managed to find any new lands as of late. She paused to consider just how long it had been since they'd last met. "As is with my orders, unless the king wishes it I remain at guard and in his service. You'd be making an official request to his majesty to free up my time." she said seemingly unfazed by her own words. She stood true and loyal to the royal family in action and seemingly devotion as well. His mention of the idea of a fight and their arrogance to attempt a brawl caused her to roll her eyes ever so slightly. "Breaking face of fools is hardly something I'd consider worth going all out for. Even still it's been a time since I've seen you push up a sleeve more or less." she mentioned before exhaling again.

His laugh caused her right eye to close slightly, seemingly flinching in a way from his hearty laugh as she kept her gaze forward. Still it was rather pleasant to hear he'd found a worthy opponent. The mention of a good Warrior fitting the bill managed a shrug from her. "It wouldn't be a bad start. It beats small and annoying talk and getting to know someone on an impersonal manner. Combat is the truest form of knowing another." she stated before ignoring his comment on others and their attempts towards him. "Training recruits I assume. New guard and all that. The one should have had enough time to heal to get some more licks in. And as I said before if the king wishes it, then I will." she stated once more in a firm manner before glancing about the room again. Seemed a few of the simple patrons were getting a tad bit on the rowdy side with laughs and laughable passes at the help.

She flinched slightly when she noticed a rather slosh looking lumberjack of a man failing far to easily at trying to get the attention of a female elven girl. Trader's guild help and here to cement some further business with their higher ups. With an irritated look she observes them, her gaze now fixed on him. "And yourself? You laze about even more after this is finished?" she asked without diverting her gaze as her feet shifted slightly under the table to a more readied stance. Seems she was growing tired of the drunk rabble now.

"Hmmm....All it takes is a request? I suppose I'll start filing the paperwork then!" Surtr said with a smug grin. He would happily follow some bureaucratic process if it meant he could take her out to see the sights. He had a rather tricky cave out in the in the northern wastes that supposedly contained a scroll that interested him. Perhaps he could make it a date. His stared into his mead his grin growing slightly as his mind began to scheme. He'd of course reward Androk in some way. He was sure he'd be able to find something to that she considered worth the time. Plus there were few if none he trusted more than her. Straight shooters like Androk were extremely rare and Surtr could use one for that quest. If Androk had glance over she'd likely see and recognize that pensive look about his face. While harmless most of the time Surtr did enjoy a good plan every now and then.

Though his scheming was broken up as a drunkard was pushed towards Surtr. Without even looking Surtrs left elbow came back as he rose catching the man in the throat. Due to the unbalanced nature Surtr was able to tabletop the man causing him to fall to the ground knocking himself out cold as his head smashed into it. "Oops...." He said rather playful holding his mead in his left hand, the whole group of drunkenly men stood up barking ignorant insults at Surtr. There were around fifteen of them. All elves and men and all far too drunk to realize who they were trying to pick a fight with. Surtr smirked before finishing his mead and setting the cup down on the table. "My my.... seems we have some who are a bit rambunctious...." Surtr said softly to Androk glancing over to the one he was watching. The rather chubby lord had a very worried look on his face. Surtr winked to the lord signaling there was nothing to worry about. "Let's say we play a game Androk, if I take more of these out I'll submit that R&R and you'll come with me to seek out something I have had my eye on for a bit. I'll compensate you for your time of course but the adventure itself should be entertaining enough...... Should you choose to accept you may choose your win condition." Surtr spoke in a sly tone confident he would come out on top. He had known Androk long enough that he felt comfortable agreeing to the bet without even knowing what he could lose.

She was one of his closest friends after all, she wouldn't take advantage of him would she? As Surtr finished his words the men all began to snicker and chuckle. Each of them was burly in stature easily over 6'6" and well over 250 pounds. Surtr certainly appeared to be outmatched but appearances could be deceiving. A maid had refilled his drink and Surtr took a long hard drink filling his mouth. Before Androk could agree one of the men charged, Surtr smirked before spitting out the mouthful of mead he had just taken into the mans face, as he did he clicked his teeth together and the mead ignited, into a puff of fire that caused the man to whip his head back. "Just a little push.." Surtr mused before sweeping his left foot across taking the mans feet out from under him. Surtr promptly brought his heel across the mans jaw knocking him out. "That would be two Androk....." Surtr said playful as the men bum rushed the two.

This fight would certainly not be something to tell tales about like the time the two met but it was a bit nostalgic for Surtr. Androk hadn't technically accepted but Surtr was pretty sure the elf wouldn't turn down a chance to let off some steam the best way she knew how.

...When my blades fail me...

Androk closed her eyes and seemingly sighed as she realized just what it was Surtr meant with his words. Great. Now she'd have him stopping by in some strange attempt to draw the royal Knight away from the king for God knows what. "Make sure you get it officially approved. Hate to see you escorted off the lands due to a forgery or such." she stated with her left hand making a small gesture before glancing back to him. Such a strange man with his phrases and constant joking. At times if one didn't know him and his combat prowess he'd come off as an insane bafoon. Which at times she did consider. But his company was entertaining in a weird sense for her. He joked and poked fun while others simply avoided conversation. Not like she engaged in it much anyway.

Then it happened. That all too cliche little stumble of a drunk patron picking the wrong fight in certainly the wrong instance. Androk let her head sag a little at the thought of some local idiots getting their faces kicked in or burned in this case by Surtr. "Gonna leave the fate of a little field trip to the chance the idiots here manage to bring me into your brawl? Sorry. I don't much care for busting their simple faces in-" she started before a half filled tankard of mead flew through the air and collided with her head, the drink sloshing quickly before spilling all over her upper attire. She held her breath with a sharp inhale as her fingers dug tightly into her arm.

She let her eyes quickly dart to the one she was protecting for the little event, the high elven man giving a dagger like glare to the drunk group before motioning with his hand. That was all she needed. Her chair creaked as she moved to her feet, arms still crossed as the group moved to charge. "Unfortunately I've been cleared to take action." she stated before her right leg suddenly swept the chair up behind her, an even swifter kick sending it colliding and crashing against one of the men to send them flying back and motionless against a wall. "Just make sure you don't lose count." she stated firmly before rolling over the table before them, her legs once again kicking the table up and facing towards them before a rounded kick sent it into a group of three men, splintering wood and likely a few bones sounded as her still crossed arms tightened more.

"This won't even be worth trying." she stated as she sulked forward, pushing off the floor to slam against one of the taller men, legs quick and in a blur as she sent a knee firmly across his jaw to send him to the floor. That was two and three wounded underneath the massive table she'd sent their way. While she didn't show it, a small glimmer of enjoyment was being had. If one was able to spot it as the men began to move in for a return on the two. Fools.

As the tankard flew and hit Androk in the back of the head Surtrs eyes widened and his usual smirk grew. His left hand quickly shot up to stifle the snickering that followed. The last thing he wanted to do was draw Androks Ire. After composing himself he shook his head softly. "Big mistake..." He said as a chair flew by him and into a man clearly knowing him out. Surtr winced a bit chuckling afterwards. Androk had such flair in battle, so much style. It was part of the reason he enjoyed watching her fight so. "If I hadn't started this game I'd pull up a chair and watch." He vocalized before reaching into the folds of his cloak. He pulled out two daggers throwing one in front of an assailant stopping him in his tracks. The other flew high up into the rafters disappearing out of sight. Another came charging up mocking Surtrs aim. As he went to swing Surtr ducked and grasped the mans arm as suddenly the two disappeared. As the the one looked up he could hear yelling from above followed by the reappearance of the disappearing man. He fell hard on top of the first knocking the two out in the process. Surtr suddenly appeared at the floor picking up the knife as well as tucking away the first that had disappeared up into the rafters.

"4." He mused as two more came his way. One from behind one from in front. They were both clearly going for the knockout. Surtr side stepped turning and bend backwards watching as they both go what they wanted. The men caught each other in the face and knocked one another out. Surtr chuckled before letting out an "oof" as a two monstrous arms seemed to wrap him up from behind. He smirked as his hands flexed and in turn ignite. The man released his grip and stumbled away. Surtr merely slipped his foot back and hooking it into the heel of the stumbling man. His head caught the edge of a table knocking him out. "That's 7.... catch up" He taunted to Androk as turned to see her and what she had done to the near other half. He would be watching closely to see if there was any of them Surtr could vulture. He was trying to win this little competition and if he got his shot he'd take it.

...When my blades fail me...

Androk let a low and guttural growl escape as her stance slowly hunched forward, hands still crossed. She seemingly had little desire to use her actual fists as her knees and boot heels collided with those unfortunate enough to charge her came forth. She was angry but more so than usual. This was a simple bar fight which meant she couldn't even get a little steam off her chest. "Hardly a game when the pawns are easily removed. Honestly this is just an inconvenience for both of us." she barked before suddenly shifting her weight to the right, her forehead slamming against another to send them directly into the floor. A small jostling of some nearby chairs signified the blow for the poor man.

Androk did take some glances to see Surtr up to his usual tricks. Always darting about the battle ground with his silly mage tools. She didn't care for such things but they were interesting to observe. As the fight continued she shifted and weaved around her challengers, sweeping with her legs and delivering hearty blows to others midsection with her knee and shoulder. Still arms crossed and eyes dull emerald as the fight continued, her swift and firm blows knocking them out in time. Three. Four. Seems the remaining men were either cowards or smart as they grabbed objects and stayed tightly knit. Androk rose to a confident stature as she sighed lightly.

"Give it a rest. You idiots are trying to take on Royal Knight guards here. You really ca-" she spoke with an intent to reason before a large beam one of the patrons had wrenched from the building slammed across the back of her head, wood cracking and splinters flying about as she hunched forward with a sudden silence filling the air around her. The man holding the beam drew it back again, moving in place to send it up and across her face. Suddenly her arm lifted to force the beam to a halt, fingers gashing their way into the wood to cause a shattering effect as the wood cleaved in two.

There it was. The sudden snap and eerie glow to her dull eyes that only came about when she was truly serious. "...you're gonna pay for that." she growled angrily as her gaze locked onto the now frightened man, her next action a blur as her figure moved along the man before a firm hand reached up to grip his face tightly, a sudden shift of movement before the back of his head met with the floorboards with a resounding crack. Out like a light. As she rode she tossed his body aside like a rag doll, hands slowly lifting as she looked to two more of the group. This was when they realized who it was they were challenging. Before they could double back she was upon them, one hand colliding with the left man's abdomen to send him flying out a pair of double doors, her right arm connecting with the other man's knee for an audible sound to ring followed almost instantly with her left arm delivered the blow to his head.

Seven. Now here eyes ablaze with anger scanned the room for the remaining man. Unfortunately for her it seemed she was too slow as Surtr was just finishing them off...

Surtr watched intently as one of the drunkenly patrons had ******** up Bryan's all repair. His eyes widened and his smirk grew to a toothy grin as he could see Androk get serious, though not because of the opponents strength but his horrible life altering mistake. He watched enjoying the show as she destroyed the other two. Then suddenly he heard his lord yell. He looked over to see the final drunkard standing behind his lord with a knife to his neck. Surtrs playful smirk suddenly turned malicious. Before the drunk could even make demands Surtr was on him. Moving at impossible speed Surtrs right hand was on the back of his lord his left on the mans right arm pushing the dagger free from his Leiges neck.

The drunkards eyes widen as he began to babble about it being impossible and asking who Surtr was. Surges right hand now shot forward catching the man around the throat. "I am fire...." he growled in a low almost whisper. His orange eyes were glowing now ablaze with rage. This one has threatened his little lords life a mistake the drunkard would never make again. "....I am Death...." he whispered before taking in a deep breath. The man was gasping for air his mouth wide open. Surtr looked to him and exhaled and a stream of white hot fire poured out into the mans throat only allowing for a moment or two of shrieks before he fell silent. After the attacked was charred to a crisp from the inside out Surtr released him from his grasp and rose.

"Remember little lord, I will always be with you." he whispered patting the man on the back. There was a mark on the lords robes Androk would recognize it as Surtrs seal the way he could move so fast. It was a rather useful trick and something Surtr often times fell back on.

He strode softly back to his table and took his seat. The music had already resumed in the inn and the drunkards were gathering there wounded and dead before scrambling to get out. "If I'm not mistaken I believe that was 8 to 7..." he said his eyes casting a playful gaze as he took a drink of mead. Whispers we're now flooding the inn. Surtr had killed a man, unfortunate but threatening the one he was assigned to protect warranted a death. Perhaps his methods were a bit barbaric but Surtr wasn't really one to show mercy.

Androk exhales angrily at the mere threat of a life that was of higher standing. Did anyone here even realize this was a simple event that had been organized to be cheery? Seems drunk and stupid was far too tempting for the lumbering hulks now crawling away in defeat. Androk huffed a strand of hair from her face as the burning of the assailant occurred, her attention shifting to glare about the room to further assert both herself and Surtr amongst the group here. The were and mage that had shown signs of pocketing tricks were wise enough to observe and leave them well enough alone which was, in Androk perspective, the wisest move of the night.

When Surtr came back over towards her and began to gloat over his superior number she shot him a harrowing glare, eyes fading but still showing those signs of berserk like rage she harbored inside her. While her frame misled her strength the eyes said it all. "...does it really count if you kill one." she stated before narrowing her eyes and growling lower. "Fiiiiiinnnnnnneeee..." she admitted, drawing her distaste over not only losing but seemingly being wrapped up in his little game and future plans. "Paperwork and approval is still required. I'm sure you'll figure that beurocratic hogwash easily." she said as she shuffled herself over to the table she'd sent into the group, fingers clawing into the wood a fair inch before she hauled it back into place.

A resounding thud echoed the room as the music picked up, her hand swiping a nearby chair to place herself back as if nothing had happened. Clockwork the staff was at it again, refilling a tankard and plate for herself and Surtr as she lifted a hand back to wrench some shards of wood both from her hair and also a few embedded in his skull. "So. Might as well spill it. What's got you all excited to try and recruit me into your little escapade? And if this is a setup for some ambush or secret outing I swear to Yggdrasil." she said in a firm manner, her hand stabbing a shard of wood into the table as she let her gaze rest directly before her. Oh how'd she react if the Crow was setting up some fanciful encounter.

Surtr glanced around the inn eyeing the patrons as Androks final display of strength was enough to prevent any further disturbances. A playful smirk was across his lips almost daring anyone to cross the two again. The smirk was fleeting, it faded the moment he felt a two eyes boring a hole in the back of his head. Androk sure was scary, that rage of hers was the only thing that kept Surtr from courting the woman. It was true Surtr was a lusty man having a weakness to almost any female but his life was just above women on his list of priorities so he hadn't ever attempted to win Androks favor.

As she agreed Surtr sat up whipping out and setting two gold coins on the table. "Inn keeper your finest mead for me and whatever my companion should desire." Surtr exclaimed intending to seal the arrangement with a drink. As Androk inquired about the nature of their adventure adding in a warning about a secret out Surtr smirked allowing a chuckle to slip out. "Androk whatever do you mean? A secret outing...." He uttered playfully pretending to be ignorant to her words. Though he supposed he could at least enlighten her to what he was after. Seeing as she already agreed to join him.

He scooted closer so that there sides were touching and slowly placed his right hand up to her cheek cupping it outward to block his mouth from sight so he could whisper without fear of a nosy bystander overhearing. "There is an island far to the west..... on that island is a cave and in that cave is a scroll containing very old and interesting information on pyromancy..... the only problem is said island is guarded by sirens and many other creatures that match.....unfavorably against me...." he whispered softly and subtly to ensure no others would hear. As he finished his words he withdrew his hand and moved back a bit to give Androk some space. He knew she wasn't fond of people getting to close and since he truly did need her assistance he wouldn't dare press his luck.

" So as you can see I'm in a bit of a pickle. Help me here and I will return the favor." Surtr said with a genuinely soft smile. The man was known as a trickster but when he offered his word it was one of the few things that were binding to him. The inn keeper had approached dropping off the mead and awaiting Androks request so he could fulfill her order as well. Surtr had yet to touch the cup awaiting Androk to get her drink and formally agree before he would drink to seal it.

...When my blades fail me...

Androk closed her eyes with a neutral look on her face as Surtr offered to have tender bring the finest they had. They already worked to bring any request as it was due to the present company. Why on earth would he need to apply any bit of coin? Because it was a seal to a deal. Right away she knew this was going to be a fairly lengthy endeavor even with his help. "...Best wine you have in the stock. Whole bottle." she said without hesitation, finally showing a shimmer of her more elven side. Always looking to test and favor the more aged things of the world.

"And with that you've just given grounds to more suspicion." she stated as she kept her eyes forward in an almost blank expression. She'd always suspect. It was her nature and something she had little reason to stop doing. As he scooted closer she remained still, her form shifting and nudging a little as she kept still. However his hand on her cheek caused her to flinch, her right hand clenching quickly before he started to inform her of the goal. Just in time too before she considered reminding him how much she disliked others touching her without permission. His explanation caused her eyes to glance his direction, pausing before he released and moved from her.

"...Sounds fairly routine. Although I can see how you'd get distracted with such foes." she said, almost like she was teasing. Yes today was an odd day for her after all this mess had transpired. "So you want my...resistance. Fair." she stated before her bottle arrived. "What do you have in mind for travel and your return offering." she stated more than claimed, clearly now entertaining the idea and laying the mutual understanding for the entire ordeal. She grabbed the bottle, slamming her nail against the cap before wrenching it out with a thump to rival a cannon. Old stuff, old enough to rival some elves almost. She drew the bottle back slowly letting it trickle in to fully enjoy the liquid flow. Moments passed as she held her breath, bottle resting before her as she took all the sense of it in before exhaling and sighing softly. "...War and wine...my passions." she claimed before looking back to Surtr awaiting his reply.
