Sprawled out on her beat-up, curbside-discovered couch, Mags was finding herself growing more and more irritated towards the ruckus going on outside. Hooligans and thugs had once again begun to gather in the parking lot, no doubt to loiter and do other loiter-ous things which involved turning the volume of their car stereos up to Ungodly Level as well as laugh obnoxiously loud. She turned up the volume of the old television set, but it was to no avail. More kids began showing up to the unsanctioned parking lot meeting and with them came the sounds of laughter and cheering as they began to pick fights with one another. Fed up, she finally rose from her resting place and stomped ungracefully across the carpet towards the front door, which she promptly flung open. Stepping out onto the porch of her second floor apartment, she leaned over the wooden railing and hollered out: "Y'ALL NEED TO KEEP IT DOWN, YA HEAR?" It never actually occurred to Margaret Butler that her own volume wasn't exactly helping her request for peace and quiet.

To date, she had some how managed to not hear too much of the ruckus that could happen in her complex. Probably due to not being home in the evening sometimes. Or because she was always playing music or had the TV up and just... generally wasn't bothered as much. Though it could also have been due to her apartment unit not facing out towards the parking lot...
Blessed divine beings, she was supremely happy that Magiore had not been witness to some of the, ah.. more sketchy folk that came out in the evening times. Otherwise he'd have a few words to say, she was sure. But hey! She had Thorin. Her little man was a good guard dog.
This evening though? She'd been out grabbing a few groceries and was heading back when there was some yelling. Some very feminine yelling. Kodi had to pause cause come to think of it, she really had seen too many other girls. Though with this lot outside, she didn't blame them.
"Dunno if that's gonna do you any good." Kodi said with a small shrug at the girl looking over the railing of her porch above her. "They'll just be louder now."

Her head jerked around at the voice, startled at the sudden reaction to her yelling. She'd expected a few disgruntled comments from the people in the parking lot, but not from a few yards away from her. One hand moved to pull back her blonde curls, fastening them together in a bundle with the hair-tie around her wrist. "Well, can't say Ah didn't try, right?" Wiping her free hand against the side of her jeans, she looked over at the other girl, whose hands seemed full of groceries. While Mags hadn't noticed a normal lookin' gal around the neighborhood, it wasn't unexpected - heck, she was a normal gal too, right? "Do ya need help with any of those?" Taking a step forward, she reached out in offering towards the stranger. "Ah'm Mags. Live in 22B."

Kodi laughed, nodding in understanding. "Definitely can't say you didn't. Though I feel for ya. They're louder when you're facing the parking lot." She'd been lucky enough to snag a unit away from it. But, it also meant that carrying groceries was a pain. She currently had about five bags and a gallon of milk. But she couldn't help but feel a strange sense of... fitting in a little more seeing this blonde girl!
"N-No that's... " The milk almost fell from her hands. "Maybe... I'd hate to impose." She offered the other girl a smile. "I'm Kodi! I'm over around the corner in 35A!" Ground floor. How she'd snagged a ground floor unit was still a mystery!
"I'd be happy to offer you some tea... or soda if you don't like tea. And I hope you don't mind dogs." She added.

Dashing forward (in the most ungraceful of manners), hands flew out to help steady the dangling milk carton, as well as plucking up half of the grocery bags. Mags knew she may not be the smartest of cookies (or lightbulbs, or however that analogy went), but she was as strong as an ox and didn't mind using that strength to help out however she could. 'Specially if it meant making a new friend in the process! "If ya got sweet tea, I'd be all over that." The thought sent a wistful expression across the blonde's face - she hadn't had a good pitcher of tea in years, maybe even since around the time Pa'd pass. Most Northerners up here only made it hot - what kind of crazy nonsense was that? "But a coke sounds pretty darn good too." Feet clomped ahead as she made her way towards the large black numbers that read 3-5 down below. "Ah love critters. Ah'm not really around much to take care one of, though. Used to have a cat, but she took off after..." Thoughts of the youma incident made her wince, "...a fight broke out, while she was outside. Poor thing - I still think about her, from time to time."

She was honestly surprised that anyone would offer to help her carry her groceries. Maybe she'd grown to be too independent - or face it, lonely too - and just sort of went about her days without much regard to anyone else. It was a rather nice change to have someone, and another girl at that, helping her.
"Ah... thank you!" Kodi said sincerely, shifting the bags slightly to accommodate the ones Mags was now carrying. "Well, I sadly don't have any sweet tea brewed up... but I got Coke!" Maybe she'd have to brew some sweet tea... she she could have an excuse to invite Mags over again.
Kodi winced a little at hearing about the cat. She could understand though. It was part of why she wanted a dog. Well, the parking lot wars and for a companion. She was pretty sure no one would try and mess with Thorin though... except her brother.
"Sorry." She didn't know what else to say, shifting her shoulder to reach into her purse and pull out her keys as they approached her door. "But I do have to warn you... Thorin is a little brat." But maybe that was a corgi thing too.
With practiced motions, Kodi had the door unlocked as said corgi growled and barked a few times before trying his damned best to trip his human person as she shuffled in the door, holding it open for Mags. Ghouliboo heeeeey is Mags lookin for a roommate at all?? -slapped- |D

"Thorin?" As the door opened and the territorial barks rang out, Mags' eyes widened for a brief moment before the furry little fella revealed himself. The most adorable little corgi poked its head out, yapping away. Shuffling in behind the other girl, Mags couldn't help but lean over to offer the back of her hand for the pup to smell. "Hey there, lil fella. Ain't you a handsome pupper!" Ensuring she closed the door behind her, she moved to hold the groceries up high with her other hand, less the eager dog manage to snatch one away from her with his jumping. Making her way towards the nearest countertop, she glanced around the apartment. "So how long have y'all been livin' around here?" Kyrieko paying half of rent is better than whole! IS THAT AN OFFER? biggrin

As she set the grocery bags down on the counters in her kitchen, a hint of pink may have touched her cheeks as she glanced over at Mags. "Yeah.... Thorin. Like the dwarf king." Nerd much?
Said corgi looked between his human and the New Human, dancing a little closer to sniff at her hand. Was there food there? Treats? Who were you? Not his human's sibling. And with a snort, he ran about the apartment to go play with his toys while still keeping an eye on the humans.
Kodi paused in her action of pulling groceries out of the bags to put away quickly, considering. "Umm... I think we've been here about a year? Maybe a little longer?" She scrunched her face up. "Actually, now that I think of it... I might be about to hit the end of my lease." Greaaaaat. "I don't go out much, beyond walking Thorin." She added, which would explain why she didn't know many people in the complex.
"What about yourself? Oh! Feel free to take your pick of soda from the fridge. As payment and thanks for helping." She grinned. Ghouliboo This is true.... AND IT MIGHT BE! |D Kodi's looking for a roommate for cheaper rent... and Mags is adorable okay. heart

Blue eyes moved from watching the small dog frolic back across the apartment to her new friend, who kept herself busy with the load of groceries she was working on unloading. It made sense for Mags to have never seen her - not only did she hardly get out of the place, but Mags was hardly at her place. Senshi responsibilities tended to be a bit time consuming, frankly. "Ah think it ends up being the opposite fer me," She struggled to find the appropriate words to phrase her thoughts, knowing she needed to keep key words like senshi and youma and crime fighting out of simple talk. Boots traveled around towards the fridge, where her cold prize awaited her. Mags was mindful not to bump into the other girl as she reached over to open the fridge, peering in at her options. "Ah tend to go out walkin' after work a lot - the more Ah can stay away from this crummy place, the better." Grabbing the first soda she spotted, she pulled back the tab and took a sip, feeling the carbonation burn her throat as it went down. Swallowing, she turned and smiled at her fellow apartment renter, "No offense or anythin'. This place wasn't exactly picked out for its location and all." The rent was the cheapest available... and it certainly showed. Kyrieko it'll be so amusing when these two discover their other halves LOL

If there was any struggle to find the right words, Kodi certainly didn't notice them. She was focused on her task of putting groceries away as quickly as possible so that she could be a good host and pay attention to her guest. It was also clear she wasn't unfamiliar with someone else rummaging through the fridge while she placed stuff within it.
"Really? Well... I can't say I completely blame you." She laughed a little, collecting up all the plastic bags from her groceries to place in a box under the sink that was currently housing a collection of them. "I guess in my case... I spend a good portion of the day in classes and just don't really feel like going out when I'm home." Except for those nightly senshi excursions through the streets of Destiny City.
"None taken!" Now she really did laugh. "Why do ya think I came here?" She paused, glancing at Mags with a knowing grin. "Cheaper rent." And since she'd been in that, oh hey parentals I'm an adult and moving out stage in life, this was what she'd been able to afford.
Of course, she would be happy to move into a nicer apartment... if she had an amazing job. Or a roommate.
"So, what sort of things do you do for fun?" She asked, motioning for Mags to join her at the couch, where Thorin happily jumped up to sit with them. Ghouliboo bahahahaha omg there would be much O M G YOU SENSHI TOO?!?!

Making her way over towards the duo, Mags had yet another question to contemplate over. Man, makin' friends with regular folk was more difficult than she thought. If she were Dan or Kat, they'd probably have an answer whipped up in a flat second, but Mags couldn't exactly say that she enjoyed beatin' the grits out of monsters in her downtime from working. Or the fact she was some magical girl with lace and an ungodly amount of frills - that might get her a one way ticket back outside of the apartment. Flopping onto the couch, her hand leaned over and rubbed behind Thorin's ear, scratching it the way her favorite pig, Pig, enjoyed it back on the farm. Man, how she missed Pig. "Ah work a lot. Over at the Waffle House, 'round yonder?" Her free thumb jerked in the direction behind them, motioning in the general vicinity of the aging restaurant as if she expected Kodi, along with everyone else in the world, to know exactly where she meant. She probably did expect that, honestly. "Can't get enough of those suckers, so Maud let me have a job there back when Ah got kicked outta Crystal for failing." Pausing, she added afterwards, "But mostly, Ah work out when I'm not workin' in...side. Get it?" She laughed at her own joke, her laughing similar to a donkey's braying as the free hand moved down to slap against her leg. Oh, she cracked herself up something fierce, sometimes!

While a certain corgi may act tough most of the time, he all but melted into that scratching behind his ears, going so far as to huff out a sigh of clear contentment. Kodi just rolled her eyes at Thorin before looking over at Mags with a tilt of her head. Any hesitation there might have been in finding an answer to her question went unnoticed.
Eyes glancing in the direction she indicated, Kodi couldn't help the small frown that formed. "Er, the Waffle House?" Yeah, she was not familiar with that one, sorry Mags! Though waffles did sound good now that they were brought to her attention.
Annnnnd it took Kodi a good solid moment to get the joke. But Mags laughter was infectious and she laughed right with her, or maybe at the unexpected laughter itself. "Oh! I totally get it!" Now, she didn't add.
"Well, it's not Waffle House, but I work at a little music store called Creative Sounds. Not a huge store, but I like it there." She offered the other girl a smile. "Work is work, right?" And it paid for rent. Ghouliboo Ahaha Mags you are soooo cute! xD

Blue eyes narrowed as the girl questioned her statement. They continued to remain narrowed as she sat there, silently allowing the other girl the opportunity to explain her work situation. Mags hadn't heard of Creative Sounds, but she had little need for music - not when her trust Walkman still worked, along with the handful of cassette tapes she'd inherited with Pa's passing. Did Kodi's store maybe have some new cassettes that she could add to her small collection? She would have to ask later - a more important issue was currently at hand. Practically leaping off from the couch with a bounce, she twirled around and pointed towards the surprised corgi. In a startling firm voice, she barked an order to her new friend. "Grab Thorin's leash." Her other hand dug into her pocket, ensuring there was still the three crumpled five dollar bills that she'd received as tips from the previous night's shift. After verifying that all three wads were still in her jeans, her gaze moved to the young woman as she announced in a booming voice. " We're going to Waffle House." Kyrieko She's just a big 'ol derp, that's what she is. Poor Kodi and Thorin.

There may have been a little hesitancy over the last words spoken, as Kodi was quite aware the other girl was giving her a strange look. But for the life of her, she couldn't figure out what she'd said! And then the blond was a whirlwind of action that Kodi tried to keep pace with.
Both Kodi and Thorin jumped, the former scooting back on the couch while the latter landed in her lap before launching himself off the couch with an indignant bark. He did not like this surprise, no thank you.
"I... wha.. ?!" Kodi was at an utter loss as to why Mags looked so serious and why did she want her to grab Thorin's leash?!
"Wait... we're doing what?!" Okay, she was so lost. But Mags was so serious and strange in her own way that Kodi just... couldn't really say no. Because, it started to dawn on her that it was her admittance at never having heard of the Waffle House that miiiight have been the fuel to this sudden change.
She tried not to laugh. But she did smile. "Okay, okay! Let me grab his leash. And wrangle him up." A pointed look was directed at a Not So Happy corgi. His ears flicked back once then forward. Leash? That meant Walk! He happily danced around until his person had retrieved the leash and clipped it on.
Kodi made sure to grab her small purse and toss her phone in there. "Alright, Mags. We're ready for the Waffle experience." She may have chuckled just a little bit.Ghouliboo LMFAO!! Thorin is just WAFFLES WILL MAKE BETTER :B

In a blonde and blue blur, she was already out the door without a second to lose. Her hand flew down to look at her own flip phone to ensure the time - five in the evening. Walking the four blocks...hm, should probably only take a handful of minutes, depending on whether or not Kodi's legs were as lanky and long when walking as Mags' were. The dinner rush would soon be upon the tiny, rundown restaurant but it wasn't the crowd that Mags was worried about. Being the waffle connoisseur that she was, there was a perfect booth that she had in mind for Kodi's first experience. Mags herself had eaten at every single seat in the restaurant, so she knew where the best place was to eat waffles - what better place for Kodi to have on her initial visit? "Ya like waffles, right? Ah mean, everyone likes waffles - these are gonna be some of the best ya ever had, okay??" Boots clomped along the sidewalk as the curly haired girl remained completely and happily oblivious to the hooligans still making a ruckus out in the apartment parking lot. Now that she had a new friend and a mission in mind, nothing was going to stop her! "If Maud ain't at work, we can sneak Thorin in. Pretend he's one of them service dogs, y'know? Ain't nobody gonna know any different - everyone loves dogs!" Kyrieko Waffles r srs bzns, Kodi. Srs bzns.
