Henri walked into the inn. His neighbors were driving him nuts and he was halfway into booking into the inn so he could finish his research paper. He had only a couple more days until his early goal day and he still had twelve more pages to go. He was all about being done sooner over later than most people.
The man walked into the lobby as he dragged his laptop bag and research papers all crammed into the bag. The man's boots tapped on the floor as he made his way over to front desk and rang the bell to get some assistance. He wanted to finish the paper as soon as possible.
Out on his rounds about town>Inn ◍ Rockstar, Felicity, & Henri ◍ Maybe see if there's been any visitors (ie. suspicious characters) ◍
Jon had made his way around the town. He'd managed to make sure that all the shops and venues, that were not open yet, still looked secure. There was always the possibility of some nefarious crook sneaking into the town at night to steal away the good people's belongings. He thought at night because when he was on watch no one was going to slip by undetected. It was then a thought struck him. He should probably chek out the Inn and make sure that no suspicious characters had made a check in over the last few days.
It had not occurred to him before because... well while policing in the city, he didn't have time to really think about just randomly checking places for bad people.
"Come on, Rockstar," He said to his canine partner and took up a jog. He'd made sure the town was safe for now and here he was running off to see if he couldn't find some danger.
Or... anything really.
He slowed when he spotted the inn and took his time walking the rest of the way. He was a little annoyed that he hadn't thought of it earlier when he'd been walking by on his rounds. Oh well, there was nothing to be done about it now. He pushed open the door and Rocky stuck his head in to look around before moving fully inside. The canine had been trained in numerous exercises but it seemed as though his talents were not needed in a place like Briggs.
Not yet, at least.
The first thing that Jonathan noticed was... a very tall man. Jon did not consider himself short as he stood at six feet tall himself but this man was at least another half foot taller than himself. He wasn't sure if he'd actually met this person but he was fairly certain that the other man lived in the town.
He struggled to think of a greeting that wasn't... well... stiff and awkward.
"Ummm..." He looked around for a moment and spotted a stray paper. "Is this yours?" Jon asked as he picked up the paper and held it out to the other. He didn't know but the rest of the Inn was very well kept so it wasn't outside the realm of possibility for this paper to belong to the dark haired man.
'Well done, Jon, you spoke to someone outside your circle today. Jo will be very proud of you.' He blushed slightly at his own pessimistic thoughts.

Felicity was in the back portion of the Inn in the laundry room. So far the day had been fairly uneventful, but still it was perfect for cleaning. She began to pull the clean clothes from the dryer. It was full of towels, and bed linen. The young woman would allow her nose to be filled with the scent of fresh clean linen. "So good." she would mumble in a sing song tone to herself. After enjoying her self a bit, she would begin folding the laundry with a series of repetitive folds.
It was not long until she heard the ring of the service bell. "A customer?" she would question herself. With much haste, she would finish folding the linen that was already in her hands. After that she would quickly set it down, and walk briskly to the front of the Inn. It was not very long till she was behind the counter. Emerald eyes would scan front of the Inn to find two males, one at the desk, and the other looking over paperwork? What really caught her attention was the dog. She loved animals, especially cats. However, it was not very often someone would bring their cat with them on a trip. "Can I help you?" she would chime in a cheerful tone.
Henri didn't go out often and if he did it was for food or research. He usually spent his days in his apartment studying and writing his papers. The translator didn't have a reason to go out much. His thoughts were so full of different things relating to his job. He didn't even notice Johnathan come into the room. It wasn't till the man spoke up that he turned to look.
"Hmm?" The man responded as he slowly turned to look at what the man was talking about. He reached out and grasp the page before bring it to his face and reading it. Henri glanced around the page to figure out if it was his. He then passed it back to the officer. "I'm afraid this is a business report and I'm a scholar, not a business man." Henri answered honestly.
He then turned to the innkeeper who now graced them with her presence. "Yes I'm here for a room for the night, possibly couple of nights, depending on how much work I can get done." The Henri requested.

"What is it you are studying?" Jonathan asked, he was surprised to hear that it was not the man's paperwork. He accepted it back but still didn't look at it. It wasn't really his to look at honestly. "I'll give it to the innkeeper, it must belong to one of the customers." He said before folding the paper up so he wasn't tempted to read it. Part of him wanted to see what information it contained but he was more about procedural correctness and it... wasn't his.
Jon looked up at the woman that entered the area, she obviously worked here, but he wasn't sure if she was the owner. Rocky eyed the woman as she walked. His tail wagged happily as she looked his direction. The policeman patted his companion's head as he was doing an excellent job of waiting. The blonde man noted that she seemed pleasant as she spoke to them and asked if she could help.
The officer didn't make any kind of fuss as the other stepped up to get checked in. The tall man had been there first and Jonathan was going to want to talk to the woman for a few moments. It made sense for her to take care of a paying customer first after all.
Felicity watched as one of the two men approached the counter. He proceeded to request room at the Inn for an undetermined number of nights. "Let's take this by a night by night bases." she would reply. She genuinely thought that this method would be the best course of action, since he could simply pay either day by day, or before he left. It was simple, put the customer first, and was friendly. At least so she thought. After speaking, she would look beneath the desk along the shelves. She would shuffle around a little bit before reappearing with a clipboard, pen, and paperwork to be filled out with general information. The young woman would then slide it over to the man requesting to stay a few nights. "Just fill this out, and I will be happy to get the keys to your room." she would say cheerfully with a warm smile. Her eyes drifted over to to the blonde man. So far he had been waiting patiently, and giving his dog attention. The paperwork she had given the other man would not take long, and then it would be his turn.

Henri turned to the innkeeper and than thanked her as she got out the paperwork. He moved closer and started to fill out the paper. He made sure he did things cleanly and not in another language which sometimes happened when he wasn't thinking. "I'm writing a paper about the influence of historically using Chinese characters on modern Asian languages." The man answered. He trying to play it down as best as he could. He didn't want to say the real title because it was full of jargon that may not be understood.
When he was done, and sure that it wasn't written in a foreign language or alphabet, Henri passed the paper back to the innkeeper so she could process it. "I wanted to finish the paper sooner rather than later to enjoy more free time. I only have to go home to feed the dog, but it should be quieter here." He had no distractions while he was at his location. He moved away for a bit so he was looking at the police officer. He didn't want to seen rude.

Jon was in no real rush, he could chalk this up to police work after all. Then he could see about stopping by the cafe to get something to eat before finishing up his day with reports and trying to get everything prepared for in the morning. It was then he heard the man speak up again. Ah, well that sounded very studious and while Jonathan was not unintelligent he could tell that... this was probably above his pay grade.
"Sounds complex." He said simply, not sure what else he could add to the conversation. It didn't seem the man was much of a conversationalist, or perhaps just did not want to talk to the policeman. Either way, Jon was not about to try to force anything out of him.
He heard the other mention his dog.
"Why didn't you bring your dog with you? Do they not allow pets at the inn?" He looked to Felicity not sure. Here he was with his dog... though his dog was a police dog so that might make all the difference.

Felcity simply observed as the two men chatted about the work that the scholar was at the Inn to work on. It sounded way to complex for the college drop out to speak of more. However, she managed to get a general idea. It was good that the blonde male also felt the same way about the idea. It was then that the scholar would hand back the paperwork that she had requested to be filled out. The innkeeper would carefully look it over before putting it on a shelf underneath the desk.
The innkeeper would kneel down. There was a small wall like plaque that held the keys to the room neatly. After picking out a key, she would return to a standing position. "Alright, Mr. Goldsmit here is your key. It is to room number four. It is down the hallway, and the second room on the right." she would say while pointing down the hallway to give visual cues. "My name is Felicity, and I will be glad to assist you with anything you need. So feel free to ask." she would continue in a cheerful tone.
It was than that the conversation would turn back to animals, dogs to be exact. The blonde haired man would ask of the inn allowed pets. Her eyes widened at the question. "We do! We allow pets for a small fee." she would talk in a rather excited tone. "Well I did have it without a fee for sometime, but then I found out the hard way that not everyone cleans after their pet." she would explain.
Henri reach over and took the key from Felcity. His long pale finger curled around the portal opener as he grasped it and then pulled it close to him. He took a look at the object as if it would give him more information than the innkeeper had originally given him. Once he was sure that there was no more information that he needed to take into his memory he thanked the woman for the instructions on where to find his room for the night.
"There is more than one reason to not bring my dog. First is I need quiet, second money, and third, he will also be the reason that I get out of my room at all. If he wasn't around I wouldn't be seen for days or weeks because of my research." The scholar answered as he turned to the other man. He gave a small grin before adjusting his bag.
"Excuse me. I'm going to get started. A pleasure to meet you both. If you're in need of any assistance involving language please contact me." The man responded as he slipped a hand into his pocket. He pulled out too business cards and handed one to each of the human bodies in the room before stepping towards his bed for the night.

"That's unfortunate," Jon found himself smiling as the innkeeper, Felicity, explained why she had added a fee for pets to stay in her lodgings. That was more than understandable and had she not said it well, he would have assumed that most people would have taken care of their pets, especially when in an establishment such as this. He was distracted once more by the taller male as he excused himself but not before offering his services as a skilled language man. He took the offered card and slipped it into his breast pocket.
"Thank you, I will definitely keep that in mind." He said with a smile at the man as he left the room. He then turned his gaze to the pale haired woman behind the counter. He held out the document he'd found on the floor.
"This might belong to you or one of you patrons," he explained before thinking about what he'd really meant to discuss with her. But first, introductions were probably in some kind of order.
"I'm officer Jonathan Pierce, " He said now holding out his hand to her for her to shake. It didn't take him long to continue, however. "This might sound peculiar but, I was wondering if you'd noticed anyone strange in the area lately. It's all been very quiet but I am trying to head off trouble before it has a chance to take advantage of this nice little town."
He had his doubts but, it couldn't hurt to ask. "So, other than some unsavory dog owners," he was teasing her about her earlier story now. "Nothing odd to report, Felicity?" He asked with a concerned look. He hoped that he wasn't intimidating her, he was really just trying to help.
Felicity would happily accept one of the business cards that Henri would give her. "Thank you. Have a pleasant stay." she would say before he went off in the direction of his room. After sending him off, she would look at the business card. She had little need for his services, but in the event that something that she needed occurred she would keep it in mind. She would place the business card in a little holder where she kept most of the business cards she had received.
It was then that her attention was returned to the police officer. He had handed her a piece of paperwork that he believed belonged to one of her customers. She would accept it, and look it over. Her nose wrinkled a bit as she was thinking. It certainly did not belong to her, and she was trying to make out any identifying features. "Hopefully, someone will claim it, or I can figure out who it belongs to. Thank you for bringing it to me though." she would reply with a genuine smile. She would happily take Johnathan's hand as he offered it to her, and shake it. As he continued to speak her eyes widened. However, her worries were quickly washed away as he explained that he was taking preventive measures. He managed to receive a little giggle after he teased her about careless dog owners. "There has not been anything unusual lately." she would reply. "Then again, I can't remember the last time anything unusual happened."

"Yeah, that seems to be the case here..." He sounded disappointed that there wasn't much going on but perhaps he shouldn't worry too hard on it. It was better... His sister had a safe place to live and he wasn't going to have to worry about turning down the the wrong dark alley on his watch. "I really appreciate everything and apologize for wasting your time." He said and smiled down as Rockstar let out a bark.
"Yeah you're right, bud." He chuckled before looking back up to the woman, "If you do see anything strange or... that might be cause for concern you can usually find me taking Rockstar around on patrol or at the station..." He explained with a warm smile.
"Felicity, if you need any help with anything, you just give me a shout, alright?" He asked and waited for her response as he got ready to leave and moved towards the door.
