For some it might be considered cold, maybe even damp due to the fog which seemed to be rolling in, but it was neither of those things for Delphi as she walked through the cities main park. Her heels were perfect for the snow which covered the ground, just under all that fog, she listened to the crunch of the snow under her boots as she continued walking along the path.
Every few yards another light lined the walkway and light up the area, fog heavy around the light like clouds around the moon, it wasn't a bad night out though she would have preferred if the ground weren't covered in snow. She'd tolerate some drizzle or just everything to be wet from an earlier rain - it was more fitting.
So far she had encountered nothing...and she was actually disappointed with this - she was bored. She had nothing to do as far as home things to do unless she wanted to marathon a few movies or she could visit Ciel and keep the younger knight company, perhaps that was something she'd do next weekend. Nothing really had her interest and so she had hoped that going out to patrol would result in something - anything....and yet nothing.
Rounding a corner, a gentle curve in the path, the dark haired knight sighed to herself. Maybe she should head home and turn in early...

Varuna never was really bothered by the cold, despite her sheer sleeves and short dress. Her shoes didn’t have the best traction, but that wasn’t really something she worried about. She could hold her own in the snow. Probably because that was her power, more or less.
She powered up in dark of an alley, already on her toes for the chance that a negaverse officer or youma might be slinking around in the shadows close by, and was almost startled enough into using her attack when she felt another aura closer than she expected, but after a moment’s hesitation, Varuna realized it was just a knight.
And a knight she’d met almost too long ago.
“Delphi,” she said quietly as the knight rounded the corner, looking and feeling very much stronger than she had when she first awakened. It was good to know that she was safe. Quietly, Varuna closed the distance between them and lifted her hands to lift up and place on the other woman’s shoulders, and then slip her arms around her neck for a quick hug, heedless of how the other might feel about the contact.
It was just good to see someone she’d worried about.

She had felt a senshi, one equal in power to herself, and they were so close...close enough she could reach out and touch them. She could feel their signature right on top of her and than just as she was rounding that corner she heard her name.
pale eyes lifting up to the blond figure before a smile came across her features. A name coming to the forefront of her mind, one she hadn't spoken in such along time. "Varuna." The name slipped past her lips with ease even as she found herself being embraced by the other.
For a moment she was frozen stiff, surprised, but soon was wrapping her arms about the others waist and returning the hug. "It has been a long time. I'm glad you are well and stronger than the first time we met." She spoke sincerely, a certain fondness for the other lacing her words. This had been someone there when she'd awoken and they had helped her - saved her. She would, and could, never forget that.
She hadn't thought she'd ever see her again truth be told. "How are you?" She didn't pull away when she spoke, just reached up to pet the others pale hair and held her. She had been saved by the other that night and had first learned about this war that night. It was good to see her again...someone who represented winter in some way. It was nice.

Varuna didn’t trust easily. She didn’t risk putting herself in danger of being hurt. People were manipulative and cruel and she had lived through enough of that to last her a lifetime.
Delphi was different. Even though she didn’t know this woman very well, she felt a certain fondness for her. Varuna found herself letting out a sigh of relief when the woman returned the embrace and then even lifted her hand to pet at her hair.
She nodded in response to being stronger, because while she was trying to be better at voicing how she felt, it still wasn’t easy for her. Even after living the last few years with her auntie and being in a much better environment than her childhood, it was still difficult.
“I’m okay,” she said quietly in response after a few moments, looking up at the woman’s eyes, searching the purple similar in color to her own, although perhaps a bit lighter.
She wanted to ask if Delphi was okay, what she’d been up to or doing, or if she was hurt in any way from fights or if she was tired, but all Varuna could do was bite at her bottom lip for a few moments, and then dropped her forehead down onto the knight’s shoulder, probably a bit more forcefully than necessary, as she clung to the long coat Delphi was wearing.
Perhaps Delphi would be able to pick up on Varuna’s concern through her actions and expression, but she definitely understood if she didn’t. After all, normally people just spoke what came to mind.

"That's good, it's been a long time - anything could have happened since then." While it was hard for her to make friends, to talk to people, Delphi had taken a rather quick liking to the senshi. It wasn't just because the other had saved her, at least she didn't think so, there was just something there. She didn't know what, even if she questioned it and tried to figure it out. She knew what she felt for Hyperborea, she was like a little sister and a friend, here...she was at a loss. It was odd, disconcerting even, but she had accepted it long ago. She had thought about the senshi on more than one occasion since there meeting, and always wondered why she cared or worried so much.
Holding onto the other as the girls blond head landed on her shoulder. Her hands moved to rub gently up and down the others back. "I've been well. I've had my slumps where I've been mostly inactive...times when I've been more active. I've joined a small group of knights as well - two are transcended knights." Speaking softly to fill the air, not wanting it to get awkward between them. She liked the others company, even if they'd only met once before. She didn't want to ruin this.
"I've spent a lot of time at my wonder - cleaning it. I've got running hot water now...which also provides heating." She was proud of that, and she always would be. Her wonder had made a jump on it's own, it wasn't something she had done but rather a result of what she had been doing. It was her wonder meeting her part way - extending a helping hand sort to speak.
"I hope you haven't been alone in all of this." She had found out that as much as she wasn't a people person, having the trust issues she had, she needed other people. It was best not to do this alone.

Varuna remained close to the other woman, craving the physical contact even if she wasn’t as emotionally comfortable as she would like. There were still questions and concerns that went through her head, and while she felt like she could trust Delphi, it was difficult. She nodded in understanding, glad to hear that the other woman seemed to have found her place, or at least companionship. It was important to have that support system, even if Varuna herself didn’t have many she could rely on. She had her aunt, of course. And her cousin to an extent. There was also Loke, although his support was a bit less stable since he hadn’t been around for the past year, but she was glad he was okay. If anything, Varuna had grown comfortable with being on her own. She had her magic, after all. Not wanting to make Delphi worry, Varuna shook her head to let her know she hadn’t been alone. She listened with great interest as Delphi told her about her wonder, which made her think about her own world and what it was like. Even though she’d been doing this senshi thing for several years, she’d only been to the moon and not her own world. “I’m sure it’s beautiful there,” she said quietly as she thought of what Delphi the wonder might look like. It must be beautiful since the knight counterpart was.

She was glad that it seemed the other wasn't alone as well, that was good. No one should be alone in this, company was needed and not just for someone to help you in a battle but for someone to talk to.
"It is. I'm sure your world is as lovely." If it was as snowy as the other's sphere suggested it likely was. She knew her own wonder was still cold and that it still snowed, only to melt on the cobbled stones which paved the square. Roof tops still were covered in snow which fell to the ground below. She liked all the snow though and the look it gave to the place - she liked snow and winter and how it looked...always would. It was her name.
"If you ever want I can show you my wonder." She liked to show her wonder off to other people. Stepping back from the other, a smile on her face, she was so glad to see the other and be standing here talking to her. "It is cold though - Polaris is very cold." If the other accepted the offer she'd need to bring a coat for the other, or have Varuna bring a coat for herself.

Varuna looked up in surprise when Delphi offered to show her Wonder to her, thinking that maybe it was something that she should decline because that was something special, wasn’t it? A knight’s wonder, like a senshi’s world, was special and sacred and Varuna felt nervous about stepping into a place where she might not be welcome. But if Delphi was offering… She bit at her lip as she frowned at the knight, and then nodded. “I would like that,” she said quietly, knowing that they wouldn’t be able to do it that night since if it was cold she would definitely need a coat, but it was definitely something that interested her. “Thank you,” she said just as softly, lowering her eyes and taking a step back. Delphi was kind to her, and she had no reason to be. It was nice meeting people who didn’t mind that she wasn’t, well, the nicest person, or most talkative.

"Of course, we can figure out when and we can go then. You'll need something heavy and warm, Polaris is really cold. I've actually never seen it without snow on the ground." And it was cold enough that any moisture in the air had to come down as snow, ice, or hail. She wasn't sure it got warm enough for it to come down as wet snow or sleet or anything remotely wet in nature.
"The buildings though - they have heat. I have running water and it warms the buildings and the ground even." So the snow in those areas, with pipes running under them, lacked snow.
With Varuna backing up she took a moment to look around them. It seemed that everything was still silent and peaceful, though she knew elsewhere in the city that might not be the case. She just couldn't sense anything where she was...so deceiving. So peaceful but she knew something, somewhere, was happening that was magical and not good. The city looked lovely from a distance - a wonderful skyline...but it hid how bad the city was in some places...all due to the war and the damage it speckled the city in.
"Varuna...were you on patrol before I came?" She asked looking the other over. "We can patrol together if you were." See if anything was happening that they could handle, though she sort of hoped the city would be nice and peaceful for them both if only for tonight.

Varuna nodded in understanding as Delphi explained how she would need heavier clothing for the winter weather, keeping her head lowered but remaining relatively close to the other woman. It wasn’t often that she really wanted to stay around other people, but Delphi was kind and offered her a chance to see and learn new things.
She nodded again when asked if she was on patrol, glancing up a bit warily to the other woman because she didn’t want to bother her, but she offered to patrol with her. It was a strange feeling, one that Varuna was still not very used to, but it wasn’t necessarily bad. She liked hearing what Delphi had to say. She liked learning about Delphi and what the wonder was like. It made her curious about her own wonder that she had yet to visit. If anything, she was probably afraid of being disappointed.
Carefully, Varuna reached out to take hold of Delphi’s hand, giving it a gentle tug to indicate that she wouldn’t mind patrolling with her. She couldn’t promise that she would be very good company, but just staying around the other woman was nice. Maybe it was something she could learn to get used to.
