Hobbies: Aquaculture - While not on a large, bulk commercial scale, Nico enjoys raising and breeding various ornamental shrimps. He has several tanks taking up quite a bit of his limited apartment space, each dedicated to a separate breed of the small crustaceans. Along with this he fosters a love of aquascaping, with each of his tanks being live planted; you won't find any plastic plants here! This hobby doubles as a way to make money, as he sells the surplus shrimp (they breed quite fast!) and plant cuttings online. They may be his babies, but he's got things he needs to pay for, after all.
Electronics Modification - Nico enjoys modifying and customizing the cases to various electronics. While he's not the best at artistic endeavors, having never formally studied or practiced, he has a decent eye for abstract and mathematical designs. He enjoys wiring and desiging cooling systems as well, giving him a secondary hobby-turned-business, though it's not as easily maintained as his shrimp fascination. Due to the cost of base materials, the hobby really more maintains itself and nothing more, but he likes it when inspiration strikes him and he has the free time to invest.
Studying - Not just relegated to classwork, Nico loves to learn. He'll lose himself for hours in books and internet sites dedicated to something he's interested in, and he doesn't understand why people think it's boring in the least, even to the point of note-taking for his own use. He enjoys it enough to have files full of notes, interesting information, and summaries of subjects he's spent time on.
Virtues: Dedicated - When Nico is dedicated to something, he's
dedicated to it. He doesn't drop interests easily, and once someone has gotten past his walls they're a friend for life unless they rip out his heart. He doesn't give up easily on people or problems, preferring to work towards solving or aiding whatever needs to be done. He also works hard at tasks he's taken on or been assigned, even if they're something he dislikes; a job worth doing is a job worth doing right, no matter how boring it may be.
Investigative - Digging, unearthing, learning ... these are Nico's thing. Being inquisitive is in his nature; a puzzle he doesn't get, information he can't find, a task he doesn't know how to approach... if there's something he doesn't have the information for immediately, he'll find it. He enjoys the challenge of a good scavenger hunt, and that's what he considers any sort of 'digging' task set before him. This carries over into mundane day-to-day life, with him being somewhat nosy but also quite observant about the little things that many people pass over without consideration.
Soft-Hearted - Nico hates suffering; even if he may not trust them, he hates to see someone in pain or needlessly punished. It makes him ache to see people or animals alike in dire straights, and will often go out of his way to try and offer some form of aid to them if he's able. Doing otherwise will often set heavily on his mind, to the point that he will go back and try to fix his own perceived 'wrong' of inaction if possible. This leads many to see him as an exceptionally kind individual - which, he supposes, he must be, though he doesn't think about it too often. He simply does what's 'right.'
Flaws:
Obsessive - Unfortunately, Nico's desire to learn, understand, and his dedication to his causes can sometimes tip too deep. Something beyond his grasp or that he can't seem to master can cause him to become obsessive, as can deep subjects that take a great amount of effort. He will forget to eat, drink, and sometimes seem to forget about the world in general until prodded by an outside source when something grabs his attention so tightly; even then, while taking care of his needs and duties, his mind will remain wrapped on its fixation of choice, eating at him until it is 'solved' in whatever way it finds appropriate.
Too Serious - Whether an underdeveloped sense of humor or just a brain that analyzes too heavily, Nico is ... not very good with jokes. He takes them too literally, and is often described as too serious by friends and family. It isn't that he doesn't want to appreciate the lighter side of things, it's simply that jokes, innuendo, or facetious behaviors seem to fly right over his head. This can make for some awkward encounters, and often seems to make him seem dumb, gullible, or just grouchy to others.
Distrustful - While he may have a soft spot for preventing suffering, Nico is distrusting of people he doesn't know. A mentally-abusive childhood has left him hesitant to let people close to him. He still expects the worst out of others' intentions towards him, and he finds it difficult to open up about his personal life beyond what is easily accessible, such as his classes or work.

Eyes: Hooded, rounded heavily on the bottom. Bright yellow-green.
Hair: Medium length hair, usually drawn into a ponytail, short on the underside. Black with brunette highlights.
Face: Inverted triangle shaped face;
full, drooping lips,strong Greek nose. He has a five-o-clock shadow / facial scruff because he tends to forget to shave for days at a time. (I know it may not all fully come through in the art style, but putting for reference~)
