Hillsworth Academy held lots of memories for the old General. He'd taught here as a gym teacher, underneath Charonite's careful watch while Nealite had... No, he didn't want to think of Nealite. He was currently walking the track in the dark, absently staring up at the sky. No stars that he cold see, but that wasn't unusual. The bright lights of the city often drowned them out. Fitting, really. Hydra should be here soon. It was around the time t hat he'd met her last night. Oh, true, she may not show up at all... but Obsidian would be very surprised if that were the case. After how passionately she'd argued her case for him to train her? No, she'd be here. And if she came back to him after this first night, then Obsidian would truly believe that there'd be a chance for her. "Love is like a butterfly~" He crooned. "As soft and gentle as a sigh...."

Hydra had never been to Hillsworth before and finding the all boy's academy proved to be more of a task than she expected, but she had managed. She had also cursed herself for not asking for a time when they were to meet, because she had no idea when he expected her to show up.
And she fretted about being late.
She had been following the pulse of dark energy as best she could, but aura were so broad and difficult to locate the source that she nearly gave up. The girl was minutes away from succumbing to fishing out her crystal to ask him how to find him. In the end, she didn't have to because she spotted that dark red cape that she couldn't forget. Part of her missed the weight of it on her shoulders, but now was not the time nor place to get moony-eyed.
Her chest was heaving and she was breathing too harshly, so she took a moment to stop and compose herself, brushing her long hair off her shoulder and away from her mouth.
"General," she called, making a point to stride forward with all of the fake confidence she could muster. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting long?" Her eagerness to please cracked through.

Her aura had been growing stronger and stronger, and eventually Hydra's voice quietly floated through the night air. He turned to face her, taking note of her slightly flushed cheeks. Winded already? Oh, she was in for a night. "No." Obsidian said truthfully, looking her over for a moment until he jerked his head to the track. "Ten laps. Go." He settled back to observe, getting comfortable as he folded his arms over his chest. Endurance was going to be a priority for her... and after this little warm up, he fully planned on testing her reaction time. Nuxaz /puts on eye on the tiger

The corrupt didn't know what to expect for their first training session, but she hadn't expected running laps to be a priority. Still, she nodded at him wishing, not for the first time, that her hair wasn't so thick and long or loose and wild. The fishtail braid helped but there was still too much hair.
Hydra hesitated for a brief second, taking a deep breath before she made her way towards the track.
She had asked for this, demanded it really, and General Obsidian was expecting her to follow through. The corrupt refused to disappoint him, so, when she reached the track she pushed loose hair out of her face and started running. No matter how long she'd been both Hydra and Rory, running in heels was not ideal, nor was the way her long turquoise hair rippled behind her, strands slapping her face, which she ignored, to run.
Her heart pounded in her chest, muscles screamed at her as she tried to keep an even pace that didn't leave her utterly breathless.
Despite her efforts, her breathing was not controlled and by the fifth lap she'd begun to slow, cheeks flushed and red. Her lungs screamed at her angrily, breathing hurt, but still Hydra tried.
If I can't handle it, I'll learn to. She had said and she was determined to follow through, even if it meant that her legs gave out beneath her.

She clearly wasn't used to this sort of exercise. Few of the younger Negaversers were. Obsidian hadn't expected her to complete the ten laps with ease, but she made it farther than he expected before she started to falter. Not stop, he noted with mild approval, but certainly falter. He waited until she started to stumble across the line to begin her sixth lap. That was when he moved. In an instant, the General was at her side, lashing out with a savage kick towards her legs that was meant to floor her if she didn't dodge or wasn't paying enough attention to regain her balance. Playing dirty? Absolutely. But she had to learn to expect things like this, even when she was bone-tired and it felt like her body wanted to collapse. This would likely be the first of many, many bruises to come.

The girl thought that she was in a-okay shape, never too far behind when it came to gym class, but this was definitely more strenuous and Hydra wondered why this sort of thing hadn't happened before. She had always been allowed to work at her own pace and suddenly was wondering if it was her fault for not demanding more, harsher, training or if it was the fault of the general she'd corrupted under. Soldier's were only as capable as their leaders allowed, right?
This was something she wasn't sure of, because being a part of the negaverse was so new and -
Hydra barely caught sight of the leg before it hit, hyper aware of Obsidian in her space and she tried to throw herself out of the way of it, but his foot slammed hard into her shins and she went flying into the ground. The palms of her gloves tore as she tried to catch herself.
Crap.
Her heart rattled against her ribs as she tried to throw herself further away from him before he could hit her again. Her reaction time was slower than she would have liked, head dizzy, but she still made an attempt to get back on her feet.

He stalked after her, noting how she scrabbled and sought for purchase so she could right herself more quickly. Admirable, but ultimately useless, if he decided he wanted her dead. That was not the case, and Obsidian watched closely as Hydra stumbled upright, resisting the urge to pounce. This was training, he reminded himself. Not a battle. Giving into bloodlust would only end poorly for both sides. "The enemy will never fight fair." He offered instead, his tongue rubbing itself against one of his upper canines. "They'll lie. They'll shed crocodile tears. They'll stab you in the back. And then they'll celebrate it. They'll think they've done something really special, beating the s**t out of you and leaving you to rot." He prowled around her, silent and impatient, his eyes almost seeming to glow in the darkness. His words remained casual, like they were discussing how nice of a night it was. "So. You trust no one but your own instincts. You anticipate. And you learn to hit back twice as hard." His chin jerked in a soundless order. Keep running.

Hydra wasn't foolish enough to think that she'd been capable of getting to her feet because of quick reflexes. She had been allowed to rise and she could feel the strain of fear as it rattled her heart against her ribs. Sweat trickled down her face and long strands of blue stuck to her skin but she didn't dare brushed them off, hands trembling as she looked at him.
"O-of course, g-general," she managed between her shaky breath and her trembling body. Everything hurt, her ribs screaming at her and her stomach aching from where his foot and dug into the soft flesh.
At her sides, her fingers twitched and she wondered if she would be able to summon her tidal wave in time to stave him off if she had to.
No, she realized, because he was too close and too fast. She remained mostly still as he circled her, movements jagged and predatory and it filled her with both fear and excitement, which in turned filled her with confusion.
Obsidian could kill her easily, she had never thought otherwise but -
He saw potential in her, she was sure, why else would he waste time on her?
She took off running, nerves electrifying in her veins as sought to get ahead, fingers ready and the summon for her magic on the tip of her tongue if she needed it.
