Caia tried to tell himself that the weather was warming up and that he really wasn't freezing, but the fact of the matter was, it was a mere two degrees warmer than the last time he'd been out--except, tonight, it was windier.
The ground was covered in ice, and he'd already had a few falls that had left him sore. He was trying to take it easy and stay out of trouble--when he sensed an energy signature a little while away, he hadn't even planned to seek it out.
The world seemed to have other plans for him.
He was walking along the sidewalk, minding his own business, when he'd hit a patch of ice. Naturally, he'd tried to catch himself, but wound up flailing miserably before promptly landing on his rump.
But that wasn't the worst part of it.
The worst part was that, once he'd fallen, he was at the whim of ice and gravity. The hill he had been walking up suddenly turned into a giant slope and he found himself skidding rapidly down.
For nearly half a minute, he spun and slid, only slowly coming to a stop a few years before he ran face-first into the fountain that was turned off and frozen over.
He had squeezed his eyes shut, bracing for the worst, but when he had stopped moving he slowly cracked open and eye. He blinked, surprised, at the sight of a purple boot. He looked up, blinked, and then grinned. "Cavansite!"
He tried to hastily scramble to his feet but wound up skidding on the ice and landing back on his bottom, so after a second failed attempt, he decided he ought to just stay put. "Your hair! It looks so good! Do you like it?"

Even if Cavansite had been in the mood to hurt someone, and even if the person who had come down on the ice slide of a life time hadn’t been Caia, there would have been no way she would have been able to hurt whoever it had been. Hell, even if it had been that awful cosmos knight herself, she would have been unable to do anything…but laugh.
She had a hand over her mouth and was trying so hard to hold back the giggles, if only to spare the red headed senshi’s feelings, but after a moment, they all burst from her and the captain had to clutch her stomach, attempting to stop the pain that the laughter caused.
“Are…are you okay?” The words were full of genuine concern, spit between giggles, and honestly, Cavansite wasn’t quite sure that she would be able to stop laughing long enough to really talk to him. “Holy s**t Caia, that looked…kind of fun, to be honest. You’re kind of terrible at walking, aren’t you?”

Caia's face was a bit red but it might have been the chill; he seemed incredibly used to making a fool of himself and barely seemed embarrassed.
"I'm terrible at a lot of things," he confessed, smile drifting onto his face in response to her giggles. "Walking included. I'm okay, though!" He waited a moment to make sure he had the best chance of getting up and carefully tried to get up. He looked like a little old grandmother, afraid of breaking a hip. Awkwardly--and just barely--he managed to get halfway up before he looked like he might lose his balance again. He didn't fall but looked like he might go down any second.
"Uh--be careful, it's really slippery," he warned, shamelessly rubbing his cold--and possibly bruised--backside.

With another laugh, Cavansite reached down and scooped Caia off the ground, placing him on the rim of the fountain—feet off the ground to keep him from slipping. Again. “You really should be more careful you know, I don’t want you getting hurt or anything.” Of course she didn’t, not if she was going to get him to corrupt. She had learned a great many things, but this was something that she hadn’t yet tried…and Caia was nice enough he seemed like he’d be a good test subject.
She reached her hand up, running it along the part of her hair that was shaved off and laughed. “I really do love how my hair came out, thank you for the suggestion. How have you been, other than practicing your graceful entrances?”

Caia flashed a small smile, gratitude plain on his face as she helped him up. "I've been good," he said, but it seemed like a practiced answer--something he'd have said regardless of what he'd been getting himself into. As if aware that his answer was a bit boring, if not vaguely suspicious, he latched onto the topic she'd presented for him.
"I really do love how your hair came out, too. I'm glad you went with it! I might be worrying for my life if it hadn't come out well enough for you!" Teasing, but he hadn't forgotten what she'd said the first time they'd met.
Quickly, he added, "Thank you--by the way. For not jumping at my throat. I suppose it might sound kind of silly but--I really do appreciate it. I'm, well" he gestured to his legs as if they had betrayed him. "I'm not the best fighter the Senshi has to offer. If I didn't keep having strange dreams about my--I guess--homeworld, I don't know if I would be powering up. I just want the dreams to stop though, they keep weirding me out. I think I should go back to my homeworld? But," he cleared his throat and looked a bit nervous. "...I think I almost died last time, so I'm a bit nervous about all of it."
Was it too much information? Probably. Could he help it? Probably not.

Cavansite frowned slightly and looked confused for a moment. “What reason would I have for jumping down your throat, Caia? Did you do something wrong?” She could almost imagine this senshi messing up everything he touched…he did sort of have that ‘black cloud aspect’ about him…but…that could always just be nerves, or inexperience.
“Hey, I don’t know what you’re even talking about with this homeworld stuff, I’m assuming it’s just a senshi thing, but I have a question for you , since I don’t have any answers for your questions…is your home life okay? Like, you don’t get beaten up by your parents or anything, right?”
It wasn’t that she was worried…but he always seemed jumpy, plus if he had a bad home life, wouldn’t that be better in the long run for her? If that was the case, maybe she could tempt him over to her side with ease. Eventually.

Caia regarded her, frozen, like a deer in headlights. He searched her face, smile somewhat faded--and then laughed.
"W-What?" he asked, squirming a bit and trying to stand up taller. "No, no. I'm--I don't live with my parents. I live with my brother. He's a police officer. He's very nice. Always looks out for me. Very, very nosy. But, I think he's only ever doing it with the best intentions in mind. I--no, I have a good home life," he insisted. "I'm just clumsy. I get myself into trouble, I don't need anyone's help to do that for me."
He offered her another smile, half torn between asking why she would think such a thing and half keen to let the subject drop. He settled on drifting back to homeworlds and said, "Senshi have homeworlds, though. A whole planet that belongs to them, or something. And Knights have something like it. A little patch in space, all to themselves? I think it's really neat. Like your own personal vacation spot! Uhm. Well, sort of. Mine is a vacation spot for polar bears, I think."

“Hmm…” Cavansite let the subject drop, but wore a slight frown while Caia went back to talking about homeworlds. It was something different, but she really didn’t care at all about what senshi and knights had going for them. There was no reason to know about any of those things.
“Well, maybe one day you should take me up there, are there any polar bears?” He had a shitty home life, that much was for sure and the captain filed the information in the back of her mind. It would be good to save it for later, bad home lives were easy to deal with, and that was information she could manipulate him with…if it came to that.
But, she always figured on things coming to that, so she wanted to be prepared. “Just be careful, all right, Caia? Just be careful.”

"I haven't seen any polar bears, but if you want to come up with me sometime, we can look! It's just--very, very cold, so you'll have to dress warmly. Very warmly."
His smile seemed a bit more genuine and now that he was on his feet, he almost even seemed to be confident again. "That's why I haven't gone back--it was too cold, and it would have been too reckless to head up there unprepared. I'm trying to be careful," he insisted. "And ideally, the longer I live, the better I'll get at it. You be careful too, okay? If the Negaverse wants you to do anything too dangerous..."
His voice trailed off and he shrugged. "Just be safe, yourself! Please! I must seem weak and all that, but I really don't like the idea of fighting. But I'd do it, to keep my friends safe. And, I mean, you're my friend too--I think--so...please be safe. And if I can ever do anything for you--I know it doesn't seem like much, especially since, uhm, you totally just saw me, ah," he gestured to the icy slope he'd come down on. "But I try really hard! And I'll keep trying!"

She snorted, shaking her head and watching the boy, clearly amused. “Well, how about you stay away from hills…do you need to get back up there though? To get home? You’ll have a pretty rough time if that’s the case. I can get you back up the hill and away from the ice…or you could stick to the rooftops, I mean I’m sure they’ll be slippery, but they won’t be so bad, maybe.”
Cavansite was considering just teleporting with the senshi, sure it would make her tired, but she could deal. “It’s almost too cold to be out tonight too, so I guess I’ll turn in, but if you want a lift up the hill, I’m here for you, Caia.”
And she would be there for him. For now, at least. For as long as he was useful. If he corrupted, she would make sure she was there for him forever. If he didn’t…well.
Then she would eventually have to kill him, no big deal.

Caia thought for a moment and then found himself nodding. "If it's not too much trouble, I would really appreciate that. I think...I'm going to go home, too. And maybe I'll stay inside until the ground thaws out a bit more. I think I'll stay away from rooftops, uhm. I don't want to fall off of them. Plus, me and heights are..."
His voice trailed off and he just shook his head.
There wasn't much reason to keep giving a Negaverse Agent so much fodder to use against him, but Cavansite had been nothing but kind and the words just tumbled from his mouth. Besides--she was offering to help him, and he was grateful for that.
He reached out a hand so she could help him.
It didn't feel wrong.

Cavansite took the hand, and she smiled, the action reaching her eyes. She teleported with him, getting him to stable ground at the top of the hill he had tumbled down, then she gave a wave and teleported herself out of there. She was utterly exhausted…but she thought she had done good tonight. Perhaps she really had the trust of that senshi…and having the trust of a senshi…was an interesting thing to have.
And one day, he would join them, and all would be well.
…and maybe one day, she would find that b*****d…or b*****d who had hurt him and she would add their starseed to her collection. But, that was for another time.
