Going out at night was difficult after he had run into Tourmaline and Fiona didn't like it when he went out on his own, but communication was poor between them, with his tendency to flit in and out of French. Fiona, bless her heart, tried but her own comprehension was too poor for them to communicate effectively while he was trying to sort out his head.

He was still surprised that he'd been speaking English when he found the captain, but he supposed that was old reflexes and emotions that controlled him.

Even now, thinking of the woman who used to be his significant other hurt. It hurt worse to know that she'd been collateral damage, wounded because of him and the secrets he kept, when he had left the darkness behind. Too many parts of him wanted to make Tourmaline understand, because she hadn't been there, what she thought was wrong.

But he didn't know how to talk to her or if she would listen anyway.

So, with a heavy heart, Midgard had gone to the heart of the city, where the streets were thick with club goers and others who were dressed just as strangely as he, to try and rid himself of his restlessness.

Midgard was not the only restless soul roaming the streets of Destiny City that evening.

It had only been days since her fight in the Negaspace with Tourmaline, the sores and bruises scattered around her body still aching with every step she took. She'd deserved the injuries; they were constant reminders as to why she had been out patrolling every evening this week. Tourmaline had been right, the candy senshi had been useless for too long, stalling and avoiding the inevitable for months now.

Dia needed answers - she'd been in the dark for far too long and it was time to figure out exactly what was going on.

Downtown Destiny brought with it lights, crowds and a mix of powerful energy auras that she'd spent several evenings trying to decipher. Most had been wandering Negas, a few had been weak youma or overly eager senshi but none of them had been helpful when confronted.

As she turned the corner, heels paused on the sidewalk as a nauseating aura overcame her. It was stronger than a basic, fresh senshi but felt different. Odd.

Rose colored eyes narrowed as they searched the crowds for the owner, her lips pursed tightly together.

Midgard could remember how oppressive corrupt auras when he'd been part of them and they were no less oppressive now. In fact, they were probably more so, a thick cloud of darkness that threatened to suffocate him. It was like there was physical smoke in the air before him, crawling down his throat and polluting his lungs.

The last time he felt something similar, he had found Captain Tourmaline and something within him urged him to find the source of the energy that left goosebumps on his skin.

Were it not for his long coat then Midgard might have shivered visibly, trying to focus on anything but the way his heart raced and his mind said, this is a bad idea.

Still, he moved, pushing his way through the crowd until he found her. She was easy to spot, familiarity nagging at his senses as he looked at waves of cotton candy pink hair. Her curls were endless, skirting the ground and that black, the dark oppressive black that had once consumed him.

Her name was on the tip of his tongue and he thought about calling it out, but hesitated, Tourmaline's words echoing in his mind. "Allô?" He said instead, the french word and slight accent heavier on his tongue than he expected.

She felt her heart sink as she heard the greeting from behind. Leave it to yet another fruitless night of hunting for answers. No wonder the aura felt strange - it was foreign. Go figure that the Order would call in a bunch of recruits from out of the country to buff up their numbers.

"You're a long way from home, mon petit Français."

Her head turned, taking waves of pink along with it as eyes glared at the owner. He didn't look like any senshi she'd seen - could this be one of the Knights she'd heard some of the agents speaking of? Did it really matter?

A single gumdrop popped into the air, falling into her palm as she curled her hand into a fist.

No, it didn't really matter.

Approaching her had been a mistake and he could see that as clear as day when she turned on him. It took him too long to understand what she was saying, despite the fact that he was bilingual and he knew english as well as he did french but...

His hands moved up, palms facing her to show that he was unarmed, that he didn't want to fight and he prayed to Chronos, to Cosmos, that there would be no bloodshed. Midgard was too green still and there was too much he didn't understand.

"Je suis désolé." He apologized, brow furrowing and his lip coming between his teeth. Slowly, he stepped forward, voice caught in his throat. Grass-green eyes watched the gumdrop warily, and he braced himself for any sort of attack she might have thrown his way.

"S'il vous plaît..." He tried, then because what was being cautious. "Madame Dia."

She took a step closer as he spoke, apologizing for who cares why - maybe he was sorry for crossing her path. Maybe he was sorry for bothering to speak to her. It didn't matter, this little Knight had a gumdrop with his name practically written all over it. Her free hand moved back, sweeping her hair to ensure it stayed behind her as she strutted towards the opposition.

She felt the piece of candy as it nestled between her fingers within her palm, but her thoughts fled the moment he addressed her. By name.

"How...How do you know my name?"

Her eyes narrowed.

"Who are you? Speak. Dîtes-moi."

Considering this was Destiny City, Midgard should not have been so surprised by the fact that Sailor Dia was spouting French back at him. Yet, he was and he blinked several times, freezing in place and swaying, all six feet and four inches of him. His hood had been lifted, pulled over his curly mop of hair, and Midgard lifted his green gloved hands to push the matching hood back.

"Quoi?" He feigned some ignorance, though it was hard to think of anything besides the pounding of his heart and the rush of his pulse in his ears.

In the end, he shook his head and chose not to give her his name, or what used to be his name. From what he could remember, Dia was Tourmaline's closest companion, besides himself.

"Savez-vous qui j'étais?" He asked instead, voice low and scratchy. He fiddled with one of his bracers, chewed on his lip. "Je me souviens de toi." He added, as an afterthought. "Et le capitaine." Maybe that was enough of a hint

At the mention of Captain Tourmaline, her confusion quickly began to dissipate, replacing itself with a growing anger that could rival any other infuriating point in her life. Her fist clenched tighter, threatening the gumdrop within her grip.

This was no ordinary Knight. This was the turncoat - this was the man formerly known as James, who turned on his team, who turned on her best friend and the only soul who knew where Chase was.

Around them, groups of people continued to enter and leave the nearby bars and clubs. A few people would stop to stare at the strangely dressed duo, but most dismissed them as both individuals continued to speak fluent French to one another.

"Where is he."

Another step closer and Dia felt her jaw begin to clench. He didn't look like Aluminite, but then again, Dia didn't look like Prissy either. Somewhere, hiding within that apologetic French excuse of a coward, sat the knowledge she'd been seeking.

"Tell me and I'll think about leaving you alive for Tourmaline to finish off."

Ah, there was the face he'd been hoping to avoid and Midgard could feel tension building in his muscles, knotting between his shoulders. Of course Tourmaline had told her, he had been naive to think that she might have not. It wasn't like he expected Dia to pity him, but he had hoped for something more than anger when she looked at him.

His mouth opened, protest ready on his tongue to defend himself about the decisions he had made regarding his ex-girlfriend. They died on his tongue when the hiss of words left her mouth.

Dark brows shot up and green eyes went wide, Midgard immediately stepping back as she advanced on him. "Gone," was his one word reply, instinctively summoning both halves of his tonfa shields, gloved fingers wrapping around them tightly. "He doesn't want you looking for him." His french was clearer even if his voice was not.

He would remain strong and he would tell her nothing.

Her lips were drawn into a thin line, the Super Senshi clearly not satisfied with the response he offered her. No. She'd worried too much, she'd lost too much.

"First I lose his mother - my friend. Then he's gone. Vanished. I've dealt with too much to just accept that answer anymore."

Her fist squeezed one last time, intentionally popping the candy within her palm. A flash of white crossed her vision as searing pain shot through her hand and up her arm. Fragments of sharp peppermint and candy pieces were jutting out from her goo-covered hand, shards now embedded in her palm and between her fingers, far enough out to prove formidable if one were hit with it.

"Well he doesn't get a choice." Tears were beginning to well in her eyes, but she shook her head, banishing the thought of crying from her mind as she did her best to ignore the blood color now streaking her gooey arm. There had already been enough tears. She'd cry when she finally found who she was looking for.

So instead, she took a deep breath, then launched herself at the turncoat, her newly candy-weaponized hand aimed directly for him.

Super Sailor Scout Attack
Candy Coating Shatter

Second verse, same as the first. In addition to the Candy Coating sticky goo effect, she now throws a hard candy filled with jelly instead of a gumdrop. Upon collision, the sticky goo that releases now has sharp, broken pieces of varying/random types of candy within its goop (think: shrapnel grenade). With its impact, it has potential to cause superficial cuts/slices on open skin, tears on clothing. The goo lasts for 30 seconds. 1-2 uses per battle, depending on if she's already used her basic attack in the fight.

"I know," he hissed, sounding more bitter than one might expect from him. Midgard hadn't forgotten the dread that rested in his belly when he had stared at Lara's lifeless body and had to figure out what to do. He remembered choosing to call Dia, whomever she was outside of the senshi, but he didn't remember calling her.

The squire could, however, hear the general's pleas to their queen, begging for his mother to be spared.

Some nights, he woke up to the nightmare of ripping the woman's starseed out and shoving it down her son's throat. But he didn't say that.

"You cant't find him," he hissed between clenched teeth, the man struggling to reign in the combination of guilt and frustration. It worsened as the candy shattered around him, breaking into tiny pieces that stuck to his uniform and scratched across what little exposed skin there way.

A trickle of blood ran down his cheek and he slid back in pain, shield locking together to block what he could of the barrage.

"Stop looking." Midgard begged, peering around his shield.

"I can't? What do you mean, I can't?"

She glared down at the young man, who'd taken to hiding further behind his shield than fighting her back. It was frustrating, to not at least have him face her on the battlefield, to give her the opportunity to tear into him at least on the behalf of the heart he'd ripped so carelessly in half.

"You may have no spine, but I'll do what it takes to get him back." Her arm came crashing down against his makeshift shield, creating the impact to emphasize her point. "Now I'll ask you one more time: where is he?"

It didn't go unnoticed that some of the strangers around them were now circling the duo, giving them a wide berth of space but watching the encounter nonetheless. A few had whipped out their cell phones and Dia knew the police would be there shortly.

Her time was running out.

It didn't matter that people were watching them or that Dia was angry with him. Most of them couldn't understand what they were saying, french flying back and forth in hisses and angry shouts. Midgard wanted to grab the pinkette and drag her back so that they could talk.

Maybe she would understand -

"It wasn't a choice," he spat between gritted teeth, skin feeling sticky from the shattered candy. Slowly, he lowered his shield, breaking it apart as he looked at her. Inwardly, he cursed himself for giving her any sort of information.

She would share it and they would look and they would get in trouble.

"He wanted you safe." He had seen the wild panic in Chase's eyes when Laurelite had threatened his wolves. "Just - wait for him." He wanted to tell her that she could get out, that she needed to before things got ugly, but if Dia was like Tourmaline, and he was sure she was, then she would react violently or recklessly.

Midgard's heart hurt already.

Her fist rose again, this time with the intent of slamming it down across the Man-Formerly-Known-As-A-Friend and his unhelpful, extraordinarily frustrating face. Tourmaline would have probably encouraged it, even, maybe to make him cry as much as he'd made her cry.

But time was up.

Blue lights flashed down the street, the wailing siren growing dangerously close. While Dia knew the crowd was harmless, the police brought guns and weapons that even magical beings could find themselves subjected to.

Giving the Squire a firm kick, she snarled. "I'm through with waiting."

Doors began slamming as officers were beginning to file out of their vehicles, still two blocks away. The crowd was large enough to keep the cops at bay for a few more minutes, if need be, but it was a risk she wasn't willing to take. She couldn't dawdle any longer.

"Enjoy what little time you have left in this world. The next time we meet, I won't be so gentle."

With that, she was gone, leaving nothing in her wake but a few splinters of candy shards on the pavement.

He let her slap him across the face, the force of it leaving his cheek angry and red. The kick, however, he backed up, trying to resist the urge to do any sort of retaliation.

Midgard was not a fighter.

"You don't understand!" He called after her, expression contorting in pain. What would Labyrinthite's wolves do if they knew that he'd been banished? Plucked from his pedestal and thrown into the rift to live or die.

It wasn't something he could risk and he would rather them search aimlessly, without direction for him.

"Dia! It doesn't have to - " he tried, but she was gone and he let a string of french cursewords pouring from his mouth.

He had two second to think before the sound of a car door slamming echoed in his ears and he made his own exit.
