The lady might have taken him the wrong way. She was unbuttoning her coat and while okay sure, he kind of wanted to see what she was selling he might be buying but hey a free look was free right? He’d not complain. At least that was Alum’s thought before his vision changed to the skyline. She’d- She had kicked his feet out from under him! Letting out a yell as he realized he was falling he tried to brace his fall and failed, landing harshly on his backside.
“Ow! Damn it lady!” Grunting as he scrambled to get up, Alum glared at her, eyes catching on the glints of metal and the symbols he knew were not normal so much as they looked like some kind of royal’s markings. Just his luck. The nice looking lady he thought had been working the streets had actually been the knight he’d been looking for. Of course. With a sigh as he was righted and on his feet, he looked her over, this time not as if she was just a street worker or a civilian who’s starseed might be worth something, but as an enemy. She had the upper hand no doubt with some kind of weapon or magic or both. Not to mention she’d gotten him already, and the angle of surprise was now lost. Alum calculated his chances at recovery and coming out on top and- well.
It wasn’t good. He’d have better luck another night. Scowling as he realized this, Alum’s eyes darted around. He could run and teleport or try and lure her in and grab and go or-
“I take it back.” He sneered at her, arm folding.
“You’re much less attractive than I thought.” He vanished back to the rift. He might not have gotten a hit in, but he liked to think he aimed where it really mattered. Pride.
