Captain Tourmaline fondled her communication crystal, twirling it slowly between her fingers before activating it so that she could reach out to an officer whose name had been left with her. "Captain Arsenopyrite, this is Captain Tourmaline. I heard you were looking to someone to offer a bit of hand to hand combat sparring. I am indeed your girl. Meet me at midnight-- 137 Winterview Way. New housing development with lots of open space for training in the empty lots. I'll be there!"

This was one of the few times Arseno had had to use the communication crystal, so it took him a minute to answer, fumbling around a bit before he remembered how to activate it. "All right, I'll meet you there then."
It had taken him a bit, and some looking at his GPS, but he eventually found his way to the spot that Tourmaline said she would meet him. It was quite empty like she had said, that was good. And he doubted that they would run into any white moon here. He had powered up a bit before getting here, and was easily able to tell where she was.
Once he got closer he gave her a quick wave, when she could see him, and met up with her. "Thanks for the spar. I still need some more training, so every little bit helps."

"I'm afraid the only information that I was given was your name and rank." Her voice was clear as she hopped down from the stack of paving blocks that she'd been comfortably perched on while waiting for him to join her. "Before we begin, I'd like to know a bit more-- May I see your weapon?" Tourmaline stood at five foot six inches when flat on her feet. With the boots granted to her by way of the Negaverse and her uniform she was a bit taller now. Her hair was pulled back into a sleep, neat ponytail, the ends dyed a fade of purple into bright pink that matched the piping on her coat. In general she came off as unintimidating and average, but there was a bright sharpness to her eyes that seemed to be watching him with an almost feral interest. "Have you fought many senshi? Do you serve under a General?"

He nodded and quickly summoned his weapon. It was nothing more than simple fire poker now, but it was actually lethal compared to his lieutenant one. He held it with one hand, his fist curly around slightly below the handle of it. He held it out for her to see it.
"I haven't fought with it as of yet. So some training with the weapon would be good too." He thought over her words carefully. "I do serve under a general and as for fighting... I can't say I've fought many." In all of his battles, he had only managed to fight one squire and one senshi. All of the others were either trying to attack and failing, with the senshi running away, or them attacking him at first, but then it devolved into talking. He definitely needed more experience.

"I would like to see what you can do with that, yes, but as I don't have anything to defend myself with other than these," Tourmaline stepped back, holding her hands out in front of her and waggling her fingers. Her weapon was the gloves that she wore; padded leather with metal plates on the knuckles a clawed metal tips that clicked when her fingers touched. "Last round of questions before we begin... How long have you been a Captain that you haven't yet had a chance to fight with your weapon?" She was also incredibly curious as to who his General was that they hadn't pushed him to learn more either. Maybe it was a good thing they were going to be sparring against one another tonight. "Do you have any questions for me?"

He moved to tap his weapon on the ground a bit. "Yes... I suppose it will be a bit harder with that kind of weapon." He had hoped for some more weapon training, but he would have to get that later. Considering the lieutenant weapon was anything but, he hadn't had much practice with an actual one.
"I've been a captain for about... a week. So not very long at all." At least it made sense that he would be here for extra training.
He thought about her question for a minute. "No question as of yet. I might think of some later, but so far nothing. I'm just hoping to be able to get some training in."

"In that case, I'll let you have the first swing." She flashed him a bright, almost playful grin as she extended her hand, beckoning him with a light wave to come at her. "My General wields a scythe. I've had to learn to defend myself against weapons, even without being able to block it as I would had I a sword or staff." Honestly, even daggers would have worked better than gloves against something like that. "Don't hold back now-- Do you understand?"

Arseno slowly nodded. "All right, I can't guarantee I'll be any good. But that's why I'm here right?" She was confident that she could do well against weapons then. And since he barely had any training, she would clearly be okay.
He turned his weapon in his hand, changing the grip of his hand on it so that he could better wield it and could easily point the spiked end at his opponent. He thought about how to strike first. The weapon would probably be easily blocked... Well, he might as well try right.
Rushing at his opponent, when he finally got closer to her he swung his weapon at her.

She sprang back from his first swing, letting him get used to the weight of the weapon in his hands as he swung it at her. "Conviction. That's something each and every one of us has to have before we take a swing at our opponent. You are swinging at me because you want to hit me-- Because if this weren't a spar it could potentially be a matter of life or death. Keep swinging at me like that and I might turn it into one even if this is a spar." There was a smirk on her lips and she seemed like she might be teasing, but there was also the faintest part of her that was probably entirely serious. "Again. Shift your grip and hit me."

He nodded to her again, silently listening to her so that he could focus on what she was saying. He tried to shift his grip in the way she wanted him too, gripping the weapon a bit harder and moving a bit more towards the non-pointed end. He wasn't sure what to do with specific instructions, but she was probably counting on him to think of it himself.
Then he charged at her again, this time trying to get closer and aiming to hit her side.

The swing seemed a faster this time and if she moved too much she'd catch the points on the poker-- Not something she was looking forward to with the only 'armor' on her body being the long, leather duster. The swing caught her in the side and she let out a cry that was a little more emphasized than the hit actually hurt, gunning for sympathy in an attempt to teach him another important lesson. She let the hit take her to the ground, curling up with her arm tightly holding on to her side.

He was surprised that he had managed to hit her this time. And she seemed to even get hurt by it. However, he stayed where he was and kept his guard up. "Are you all right?" He couldn't have hit her THAT hard right? She was a bit more experienced than he was, she could have dodged that hit, what was she going for here?
He already knew to always keep his guard up, especially considering that there were a lot more fighters out there that could easily beat him.

When he inquired as to her well being he kept his distance. Smart. She liked him all the more for having brains enough to do that-- So much better than some of the senshi and fledgling knights she'd crossed paths with who were compassionate to the point of being gullible as well. "You've got a good swing when you're actually trying to hit someone." She smirked as she shifted, pushing herself back to her feet. Tourmaline gave her side a light pat, dusting herself off before rushing him, interested in seeing how he'd block against someone who was coming at him full charge.

"Thanks." He said a bit curtly. He was waiting to see what she did. She didn't seem to be too hurt and recovered quickly from his hit. And that was when she rushed him.
He hadn't quite been expecting it, but he positioned his feet as well as he could so that he was firmly planted and balanced, but he couldn't predict what she was going to do and so waited to see if he could possibly block her attack.

At the last minute Tourmaline ducked low, using the momentum of her rush to drop down and sweep a kick out at his legs in an attempt to knock him off of his feet. Maybe she should have planned this all out a little bit better... It was her first time hosting a sparring session, really. Had to learn sometime, right?
