For two months, Kobe had made himself useful in every way he knew how to his new pride. Each of the dens of his neighbors had been reinforced with their permission. In addition, he had worked on the formation of new, larger dens for expectant parents and their cubs. With families moving, the shifting would open up older dens for new arrivals to occupy temporarily. The pride was growing and he hoped to help others feels the same welcome that he, himself, had experienced not long earlier.

Despite his efforts to keep busy, however, the thought of one particular lioness kept appearing at the forefront of his mind. From the moment in which he first laid eyes upon her, he was overcome with an insatiable curiosity. Despite being very well put in his place for his embarrassing behavior, he felt drawn to her and wanted to know more about her story. She was intelligent, experienced and there was something in the pit of Kobe's stomach that suggested a sort of danger about her. Perhaps it was the lingering threat of poisons which hadn't felt entirely like a joke.

In one of his rare moments of quiet between jobs, Kobe took to wandering the coastal bay. It would have otherwise been uneventful if not for the striking purple item glistening not far from where he was. After a quick jog, he found himself close enough to make out a beautiful, purple colored seastar. He'd never before encountered such a bold colored specimen. "You're good luck then," He murmured idly to himself, recalling many of the stories he'd heard from members of the pride. It is meant anything, certainly it was a sign.

Without disturbing the animal which was revered so highly by the Bahari, he began to pick up speed in the direction of the cultivated gardens. On his route, he carefully collected a handful of lavender colored flowers. The eventual bouquet was carried delicately in his muzzle as he approached.

To say that the pink lioness had been 'busy' was the understatement of this year. A considerable amount of work had come her way over the course of the last few months, culminating in the Bahari playing host to some rather interesting individuals. It had been a rather tempestuous relationship on occasions, with the Stormborn preferring more efficient and somewhat cruel means of testing their concoctions, and the Bahari alchemists preferring something that had a slightly higher moral standard.

Nevertheless the Alchemists and the Priestesses had managed to come to an arrangement that had suited them both, and to the credit of the Viking 'Reavers' as they were referred as, they had managed to find a compromise that worked rather well for testing purposes.

Suffice it to say that the lioness had grown to appreciate the hardened lions in their own way, but they were certainly working to a tight schedule that had left her without breath on more than one occasion. She wasn't sure quite what they were preparing to face, but she had been made all to aware that the clock was ticking and they really didn't have time to waste - no pressure there then.

However, while the Stormborn might have been inclined to work themselves into the ground, she was not. She was still first and foremost Bahari, and as such she knew how to balance work and play so that she could enjoy a much more fulfilling existence. It was for this reason that Kobe would find the lioness where she normally was, seated in her 'garden', inspecting a number of clippings that had been brought to her by their, travelling herbalist during his latest journey.

They seemed to be doing well, they were perhaps taking a little longer to adapt to the soil, but as she turned over one leaf in her paw she was satisfied with their progress enough to leave them be for a little while longer before she attempted to intervene...

It said something about Zephyr that her idea of 'play' was simply an extension of her own work. She had come across to Kobe, as someone with considerable drive and sense of purpose. It was probably in part for that reason that he found himself drawn to her. The countless years of wandering in the roguelands with his brother had led to experiences that he could never replace, however, Kobe was a builder by nature and the absence of working toward something had always left him feeling unfulfilled.

With a mouth full of pink-purple flowers, the male paused at the edge of the garden. He couldn't have said for sure that she would be there, but there she was. Thank my lucky star, Kobe thought to himself with a wide smile.

Kobe considered briefly how best to navigate to Zephyr without damaging any of the tiny sprouts that she had been inspecting. The large and lanky male wasn't well known for his grace and agility. Thinking better of padding through them, he carefully made his way along the edge, being incredibly cautious not to get too near any plant that looked deliberately placed. It only occurred to him when she was directly in his line of sight that a handful of flowers ripped from the earth might not be the most romantic of gestures to a botanist.

His line of thought spurred on increasing nerves as he watched her work quietly. He didn't want to interfere, but neither did he want to simply ogle from afar looking something of a fool.

Still clutching the flowers delicately in his mouth, he murmured, "Zephyr?"

She hadn't been expecting visitors and as a consequence, she gave a start as the muffled voice caught her ear. She recognised it, it was the lion who had recently installed himself in the pride. Based on the comments of other members, he'd been settling in well, but she had heard gossip that he might have been working just a little too hard. Still, it was just gossip and until she observed it for herself she wasn't about to agree with any of the musings - she knew how things worked for rogues...

New members of the pride liked to try and integrate themselves well, sometimes it took them just a little while to settle into stride. Eventually he might realise (if he was working too hard), that the Bumani all worked to a much more relaxed set of deadlines because the rest of the pride did too. Expectant families and new members were often more than happy to wait for their new quarters as everyone was entitled to take a break!

She smiled though, it was probably going to take the lion a couple more months to truly settle in. Though she did have to wonder what happened to his brother, food for thought.

"Aha, and if it isn't the -" she paused as she turned round and regarded the flowers in his mouth. Were those for her? He looked a little out of sorts, and while she recalled him being just a little goofy on the beach, she couldn't help but feel like there was something slightly more off about it this time.

Oooh boy, had he destroyed one of her herb gardens?

...She'd had that happen before, although last time it had been in the form of tiny cub whirlwinds rather than a lanky beast.

"Kobe?"

The pridal musings had been correct about the over ambitious rogue struggling to make himself at home in his new pride. With Kobe, he wore his heart so clearly on his sleeve, there was rarely an opportunity to question his motives. In the case of over-working, he'd been making a tremendous effort to meet his neighbors and leave a good first impression. His mother used to say something about their significance. If you only met someone once, it was important for that interaction to be a good one.

When Zephyr spun around to greet him, Kobe offered a wide grin with the purple bouquet of flowers clenched firmly between his teeth. Concern glinted from his purple eyes as the female lioness examined the offering that he'd brought. Stepping forward a couple paces to close the gap between the two of them, he knelt down to set the flowers at her feet. "I, uh," He started with a light and embarrassed laugh. There was something about the lioness which seemed to set him on edge.

Steeling himself, he took a breath and tried again. "I brought these for you." And as though sensing the thought from her mind, and wanting to assuage his own worries from before, he went on to add, "I picked them a ways off." He gestured with a head as though to clarify he hadn't been digging around her official garden area. "Just flowers." He hoped anyhow.

The silence which followed felt like an eternity. He watched carefully to gauge her body language and tone when it came time to respond. Would she like them? Was he just bothering her? Maybe she had a mate and he was horrendously stepping out of line? It wasn't likely someone like her hadn't been mated off yet, right?

Oh he was doing that goofy thing again! She couldn't help but chuckle at the awkwardness that appeared to be rippling from him like waves of heat. Clearly he was unsettled for some reason or another, despite his reassurances she was briefly suspicious. Perhaps he might have pulled these flowers from somewhere, but why had he pulled the flowers and presented them to her? Rather than voice her concerns immediately the lioness padded forward to inspect what he had brought.

...They were certainly pretty.

That being said they wouldn't last long without assistance and she soon picked them up and propped them in one of the pools of water that Solomon had carefully constructed after much pleading on her part. He'd built all her gardens, endured all her picky requests, and eventually he had managed to escape once she was satisfied. No one had really appreciated why she wanted fresh water pools when there was a river nearby, but now she had proof! The flowers would live for a little longer with nourishment now.

"They're lovely," she replied reassuringly and raised a brow. "But I do have to wonder what they're for," she confessed. She let this sink in for a moment and then narrowed her eyes. "Did you go surfing again and get thrown into something important?" she enquired. "I don't think I can save you from the others if you squashed one of their sandcastles."

At the suggestion that he might have wrecked someone's sandcastle, Kobe quickly shook his head with a chuckle. He could see how his terribly awkward behavior might lead to some suspicion and confusion about the gift that he presented. "No, no. Nothing like that," He tried to assuage her fears. Though, explaining exactly why he'd brought the flowers would require a little more courage than he'd presently mustered.

Swallowing hard, Kobe made an effort to review his thoughts a moment before displaying them audibly to Zephyr. He shouldn't have had so much to worry about. Kobe was a large and physically fit male. His attractive parents had blessed him with a charming coat and endearing personality. The truth was, however, that many years in the roguelands with little company outside his less than tactful brother gave him very little experience with females. And Zephyr in particular... well, she was as brilliant as she was pretty and this made for a less than confident Kobe.

Realizing that he'd have no success without taking chances, he released a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding.

"Actually," Dark purple eyes focused on Zephyr. "They're for you. I-" Couldn't stop thinking about you. Wanted to thank you for our talk. "-Hoped you might like to spend some time together? Just the two of us?" It was definitely a date.

If there were any opportunity to turn him away, this was certainly her chance.

"For me?" Zephyr smiled and glance at the flowers. She'd certainly been blessed with plenty of plants in her time, she was regularly brought them to crush and otherwise cultivate so they could be used in a variety of medicines. However on this occasion they seemed to have been delivered simply so that she could admire and enjoy them; better yet, the lioness had noted that the flowers he had chosen really held no medicinal purposes. They were quite literally... Well, there for colour and to simply be pretty. It was a novelty to say the least, and one she was going to enjoy quite a bit until the flowers naturally expired.

"So what you're saying," she said as he finally explained his reason for being here. "Is that you would quite like to go on a date," she concluded. She wasn't blind to his behaviour. Though she might not always make her observations clear, she'd always been the astute sort. Her decision to remain vague or 'oblivious' was often done in order to protect those around her; there were some in life who got even more nervous and uncomfortable if they knew they were being read.

"I don't really do surfing," she warned and took a seat. Regarding him with renewed curiosity, she gave a teasing quirk of her brow and then finally spoke again. "So where did you have in mind for this date?" she challenged.

...She suspected he hadn't thought this far ahead, but she did like to see how others thought on their feet. Some were well prepared, others occasionally floundered, but regardless of the outcome she always found it fun to watch...
