As she lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling, Daisy found herself sighing in sort of contentment. She’d been to Bestla and had a lovely picture now to remind herself on the place. She was learning more every day about this senshi business. And she’d met some cool people. Still, there was a little nagging feeling of guilt there too. She hadn’t spoken to Angus in such a long time. And granted, while they were exes, they were still damn near best friends at the same time. The last she’d heard through the grapevine was that his new, sort-of girlfriend had been in the hospital. She might not know the chick, but she could have taken a moment to call Angus and check on him, at the least.
Of course, she could always call him up now, but how on earth was she supposed to explain her lack of being around? Oh yeah, sorry! I’ve been busy magically defending the city from monsters and crazy-evil humans! Yeah. That would go over well. Though… he knew how wrapped up in projects she got. She could always blame a particularly difficult group cosplay build that she’d taken on. It wasn’t anything he’d question, after all.
Trying to ignore the start stab of guilt that hit her as she calmly contemplated lying to her friend, Daisy turned onto her side and glanced at the calendar on her desk. Faire season would be starting back up soon. And the gods knew how much Angus loved Faire. Maybe she could offer to help outfit him and his lady and they could all go out and have some fun? Or she could just ask for some sword fighting lessons and say she needed some basic moves for a character. She’d done it before. Of course, if she asked this time, it would be more so she had some moves under her belt the next time a crazy ran into her. Did his new girlfriend even like Faires? That was something she’d have to ask about.
After another few moments of lounging on the bed, she rolled onto her stomach and pushed herself up on her elbows. Okay, she’d give Angus a call and check on him, apologize for being a shitty friend and then extend some sort of olive branch. Though it might be a better idea to ask him out to lunch or something. Actually talking to him face to face might be better if she wanted to prove that she still cared about his pervy a**.
“Ugh, why does this have to be so hard,” she muttered to herself as she stretched out her arm to grab the phone. “******** magical double life getting in the way of me having an actual life.”
Not that she really objected to having that life as a senshi, she thought as she absently dialed his number. She actually liked being a secret super hero. But she did miss her friends. As the phone rang, she tensed slightly, knowing very well that she deserved a bit of a dressing down. But all that happened was a soft click and Angus’ voice inviting her to leave a message and he’d get right back to her later. Balls.
“Hey perv, it’s me. I’m a s**t friend and I’m sorry. Please give me a call back when you get the chance. I miss you.”
