The assembly area takes the form of a glass-domed amphitheater with raised bleachers arranged in a circle around a circular stage that has a tall, ornate backdrop with blue lights. There is also a large, open area in front of the stage where students can stand.

As well as being used for meetings of the student body, the assembly area can be used for dueling practice, with the raised stage serving as the fighting area. The lighting in this area can be carefully controlled, making it impossible to see the rest of the area, thus giving duelists the illusion of being entirely on their own.

This also appears to be the location from which missions are assigned to students. The missions are displayed three at a time on numerous screens, listing the type of mission, location, and mission start time, among other extra details. Teams assign themselves to missions by selecting one and then entering their team name.

As the amphitheater came into view, Elliot's eyes both lit up and darkened a little bit. He was one step closer to seeing his mother... and that was both good and bad in a sense. I really don't wanna deal with whatever lecture she's come up with. Elliot thought to himself as he contemplate the prospect of being stuck in a room with his mother and listening to her for several hours. Yeah, I'm gonna have to find a way to sneak out or something when the time comes. Until then, I guess I'll just deal with the cards as they fall. Elliot thought to himself as he heard Noir say something from behind him. "Blonde with the glasses?" Elliot muttered to himself as he considered that a strange way to describe his mother. "Horses and ponies?" He muttered to himself as he was confused how to even respond to the young man. "Yeah... that's her." He finally stated to the guy, wondering how he should respond considering the guy was now hiding behind the others. "I guess... cat's outta the bag then... if Onyx didn't already give it away when he started shouting my name to everyone..." Elliot mentioned, sighing a little bit.

"I'm Elliot Goodwitch, son of Glynda Goodwitch, the Vice Principal. She's really not that bad when you get used to her, and she has a lot of kind moments as much as the... not so kind ones." Elliot began, not sure about how he should convince these people that his mother is not as bad as most people say. "Regardless, don't treat me any different from other people. I don't like the idea of that." Elliot stated, waving the issue away slightly as he sighed very slightly. This was not how he wanted his new friends to find out about him. At best, he was hoping they would find out after he had already been placed on a team when the names of the team members were announced. "If it helps, you can even call me Elliot Vermillion. Kinda keeps people from thinking that I'm unapproachable." He mentioned to the group of them, laughing a little bit as he made the suggestion. "Yeah, yeah. Quit your chatting and hurry up. We don't want you being late. She'll think you got into something before we found you." Onyx stated, tugging Elliot along suddenly.

With a sigh, the group managed to find their way into the amphitheater. Hundreds of students lined the walls and filled the interior of the building, obviously very excited to be taking part in something much greater than them. "So this is what the inside looks like... I've never really seen it." Elliot muttered as he walked around a bit, amazed by the building's structure and how there were so many students. Onyx, however, turned to the group and looked them all over. "Our job's done. If you choose to associate with him after this, then you may see me again. Otherwise, it was a pleasure meeting you all, and I hope you enjoy your stay at the academy." Onyx stated, turning to see that Elliot had disappeared. "What the-" He managed to get out before he was elbowed in the side lightly. "Gotcha." Elliot stated smirking slightly as he turned to Onyx and nodded. "Just.... stay out of trouble kid." He stated, patting Elliot on the shoulder lightly as he walked towards the entrance of the building. "I'll see you around." He called out behind him, waving as he left the building.

It's crowded. That was the only thing Mauve could think when he walked into the building. Spirits were high, everyone obviously stoked for the first day. A few people were already grouped up, probably friends from prep schools, neighbors who grew up together. Heck, some people may have been more productive than Mauve and already were making new acquaintances. He almost felt bad for not taking the opportunity to do so early. It'd be hard to stand out in a crowd like this. Pop! Mauve snapped his gum and shrugged. It's not as if it were a missed opportunity, simply a delayed one. "I wonder if there are any other ax users here," he mused, his own weapons hanging from either side of his belt.

As he strolled around the room looking for the best spot to see the stage, he passed a surprisingly large group of what he assumed were three students and a couple of employees. It seemed like the group was breaking up, though. Mauve could really only smile at the one leaving when he'd made 'awkward eye contact' before moving on to another area. He wasn't a very tall kid, so moving closer to the front was his only option. It took a couple minutes, but the boy found a spot where he'd be able to see just fine. A bright grin washed across his face, a certain amount of determination in his eyes. This is where it's going to begin, isn't it? This is my starting line, the starting lines for everyone here. I know I'm not the only one with a dream or goal. That's the only reason anyone would come here, right? The energy in the room is crazy positive. I'm excited too! Ew, this gum's getting old.

Noir Alcott

Noir was shocked, Elli is related to scary lady. Following him into a place with a lot of blue lights while still hiding behind the girls, he had to think of ways to hide if he see's the scary lady. He listened to Elli's reason to call him with a different last name, "I can understand! I was tossed around by her for eight hours straight one day just for calling her old! Ever since she scared me unlike you, your awesome." he then felt a shiver, just thinking of what would happen to him just for telling her son what happened scared him.

But then when he got a real look on the inside of the building, he was awestricken on how everything looked. The large stage in the middle, the over abundant of seats everywhere and a sign that holds a list of stuff on it. "But this place is so large! How many students you guys think will be here?" He asked the others, getting excited to see other people. Maybe there will be others like himself that can make grimm. He is getting so excited, his smile looked like his teeth and eyes were going to fall out.

                                  • spaceThe conversation seemed to briefly subside as the group approached the amphitheater. Her eyes followed the building up and up until she was looking at the high peaks. It was quite different and more stylized than any building she was used to. There were fancy churches and the like on Anima, but nothing like this. Her attention was pulled back to her new friends as Elliot began speaking again, affirming that he indeed was Professor Goodwitch's son. Opal tried to mask her shock. When Elliot asked them not to treat him any differently, a pang of familiarity came over Opal. That was what she asked of humanity ever day. She adopted a warm smile and took a few steps forward, resting her hand on Elliot shoulder, "I don't think anyone will treat you differently. Like you said, we're all misfits." She gave him an affirming nod before taking a step away again, continuing with the others into the Amphitheater.

spaceOnyx spoke again of being late and ushered them quicker into the building. She looked around with wonderment; the inside was just as extravagant as the outside. Once inside, he bid them farewell and was the most polite he'd been since Opal had met him. Still, she offered a friendly smile and a small wave as he walked away. After Elliot and Onyx's little exchange, Opal let out a small laugh before turning her head to look around the building more. There were students everywhere; the room was overfilling with them. She felt a sense of importance, than, and reality that she was finally on the way to becoming a huntress. She watched a purple haired boy walking through the crowd, having just passed by their group, making his way to the front of the crowd. It reminded her that the ceremony would soon begin. It was exhilarating.

spaceNoir spoke, then, asking how many people could possibly fit in this place. Opal turned back to the group, "It has to be a lot, look at the bleachers up there." She motioned to them with a slight nod, "They hold classes in here sometimes, and as a fighting area. I knew it would be big but this is more than I imagined. I'd like to see it full one day." She mused out loud, partially to be a part of the conversation, but mostly she was just voicing her thoughts. She had imagined sparring, learning, winning in this building for two years. It was finally happening. Pride washed over her and she set her gaze to the stage, anticipating the ceremony's commencement.

"BLOODY HELL YOU MUST BE SO DENSE! IT'S SIMPLE, THREE BAGS!? THREE BAGS!...How do you lose .. just, j-just, go away.. shew.. go.." A racket of clanking and a rather unbecoming yelling could be heard as a taxi pilot's helmet flew through the open front door. The pilot running shortly behind it and grabbing it turning and trying to explain something to the armour clad, pink haired female that entered the front door leaning in and her gaze set on him, the back of her palms on her hips. "You are gonna find my bags, a--.. w-wait!.. Get back he-...." Stomping a loud clanking armoured foot down and scoffing as the pilot scooted past her and bolted.

Standing there, arms crossed, metal fingers clanking in a rhythmic pattern against her gauntlets, tapping her foot repeatedly for a few moments before taking a long breath, and giving her head a small shake side to side trying to get her demeanor to herself. Turning on a heel and with a hand to her forehead rolling her eyes she began deeper into the auditorium, coming to a halt next to a pillar and lightly leaning back against it keeping her arms crossed again looking to the door. A small red thinly seen haze wrapped tightly around her body.

Glynda Goodwitch was the Vice Principle of Beacon Academy and an amazing huntress. Despite their obvious differences in personality, it's not like it was something to be ashamed of. "Why would anyone treat you any different? You're fine! But if you're more comfortable with Vermillion, that's okay, too." Why she wasn't too sure of the term "misfits" the first time it was used, Carmine couldn't help but denying it. As soon as the group entered the amphitheater, however, the girl became incredibly uncomfortable.

This shouldn't have been a surprise. There had been large groups of people moving toward the building on their way in. Her excitement was enough to fight the aching that would normally form in her stomach at the idea of this many people in one room. Carmine could only barely register that Elliot's escorts were leaving. It was nice to know, though, that Elliot had someone to joke around with despite his "shenanigans" as he liked to put. From the sound of things, very few appreciated these shenanigans as he seemed to think they should His and Onyx's back-and-forth interactions made her somewhat jealous. She forced a smile despite her unease. "It was nice meeting you as well, Onyx. Have a good day." This probably wouldn't be the last time they'd see each other. Sure, Elliot was... quirky, but it wasn't as though she planned to abandon him because of that. The reckless endangerment of innocent bystanders definitely had her... concerned.

Noir bringing up the amount of students did not help. With a deep breath, Carmine exhaled loudly and attempted to focus on the stage. That's right, everyone was here for the same thing. They were all in high spirits for the first day of school! As if almost on cue, a well-known pair made their way onto the stage. The air almost immediately began to settle, most students who'd been speaking among themselves quieted down, realizing the opening speeches were underway. A single microphone stood at the front of the stage. If most everyone wasn't quiet already, the residual noise died down at the clearing of the headmaster's throat. He was surprising young-looking to be a headmaster, not much more than thirty. "Most of you have heard of or even remember the tragedy fifteen years ago, the Fall of Beacon. It was a great toll to not only our school but to all people across Remnant. Our enemies tried to divide us, to tear apart our bonds and expose our vulnerabilities. Many were affected by this atrocity, but the world persevered. We persevered. You may have come here today because of your talents, to protect the people, but know that you are not invincible. We have the tools to prepare you for the hardships you may endure, but know that the knowledge we provide you can only go so far. Your initiative must be your own and remember that you do not face your enemies alone." As the dark haired man stepped away from the microphone, a blonde woman stepped up. If Carmine wasn't already startstruck, she certainly was now. Glynda Goodwitch was one of the first huntresses she'd ever seen "in action," and now she was seeing her in person!

"Tonight, you all will stay in the ballroom. Tomorrow will start your initiation. You will be placed into teams of four under a mentor worthy of guiding you." The way she stated that almost sounded like a point toward individuals who Goodwitch may not have deemed to be so. "And now, an alumni of our very own Beacon Academy and one of the mentors that may be assigned to your team, Miss Yang Xiao Long." Glynda motioned somewhere offstage.

"I'll protect everyone including you. Nothing is going to get in the way of that, not even me."

It seemed as if a lot of students were starting to pour into the building, something that somewhat excited Elliot as he considered what to do on this new journey. I'm actually here. I'm standing at Beacon, at the introduction ceremony. This is pretty much all I've thought about for the last few years... Isn't it a bit too overwhelming? He thought to himself as he felt himself begin to shake slightly with excitement. Mentors, teachers, hunting. We're gonna get to experience all of that stuff from what I've heard. From what I've seen on TV too. He thought to himself, thinking back to all the times he would sit in the living room and watch the news with Taiyang. The man was the only real father-figure that he had known considering his situation with his own father. How was Taiyang doing now that Elliot was gone? How was he doing now that there was no one to take care of anymore? This is the same way I felt when I left home the first time. I guess I grew attached to Patch a bit more than I thought I would. Elliot thought to himself, unsure of his present feelings as he watched the students continue to file in.

Noir seemed to be pretty excited about the whole thing, and he felt Opal put a hand on his shoulder as she reaffirmed that they were all misfits. "Thanks, Opal." Elliot stated as he smiled and looked over towards Noir as well. "And thanks man. You're pretty cool too." He stated to the dark-haired kid, obviously flattered that Noir thought he was awesome. His attention, however, was quickly drawn away from the two of them when he heard a very loud voice screaming something. When he turned to look it was a girl yelling at some man about her bags. After the man ran away, she stormed over to some pillar in a huff, and Elliot swore he saw a group of students take at least one step away from her due to the outburst she caused. I guess there's all sorts of types here, huh? He thought to himself, a half-smile appearing on his face as he uneasily thought about what kind of people he might be put on a team with. Hopefully they would be manageable and not... well hopefully they would not keep him from messing around like he usually did.

After a few minutes, everyone quieted down suddenly when a man showed up, rather young, with dark hair. Without introducing himself, the man began to recount the events of the Fall of Beacon and talk about perseverance. After telling them that they all were not invincible, Elliot felt a pang of sadness ring out through him, almost as if he had said something that was all too true. Huntsmen and Huntresses were not invincible, and Elliot was living proof of what might happen considering his situation. His talk about not facing enemies alone caused more worry to spread throughout Elliot. Fortunately, a familiar face appeared on the stage, calming him down somewhat. Yes, it looked like his mother was in good health, and she even instructed them of how they would go about the evenings events. Mentors, as Elliot had heard beforehand, were going to be assigned to them, and the initiation would take place tomorrow. He was not, however, aware of spending the night in a ballroom. "That's definitely not something I was expecting. I wonder if they're gonna separate the girls and the boys." Elliot mentioned, contemplating it to himself.

Then, there was a sudden alertness about him. His mother introduced the guest speaker, and it was a name that he was all-too-familiar with. It was the very name that had been in the letter she had sent him, and his mother's warnings of staying away from Yang Xiao Long rang in his ears. "Yang Xiao Long?! That's Taiyang's... but she told me not to talk to her. But she's the one that made..." He seemed to be having some sort of internal struggle as he stood near Carmine and Opal, trying to clear his mind a bit. Taiyang talked about his daughters a lot after that letter arrived. I know we took a long break before I was supposed to leave Patch, and he spent that time telling me stories and treating me to all sorts of food. Are they really as destructive as mom said they were? And if they are, should I care? I mean... they honestly sound like a lot of fun to hang around, and they sound like the kind of people who would appreciate my "shenanigans." Elliot thought to himself, turning towards the others. "I guess we get to meet a real Huntress, huh?" He stated, not even counting his mother as one since he knew her so well. "Yang Xiao Long's supposed to be a fist-fighter like me, right?" He mentioned, almost as if he were asking for confirmation. Overall, Elliot had a huge, mischievous grin on his face as he watched the stage intently.

Noir Alcott

Noir was amazed when Opal told him about the room and its uses. He was just looking at her and gone very close to her to her and spoke very quickly out the excitement of this room use, "So wait, this room is used for combat and to improve our styles?! AWESOME!!" He was imagining everything he can do in this room, even ways to hide from scary lady which he maybe get skilled enough to fight her one day without her using her semblance and tossing him around like a ragdoll.

However, he then heard a fellow student yelling at someone about their bags. However it didn't last long due to the guy left due to the fact that she seemed pretty rude, but he thinks all she needs is a friend. However, Oz showed up on the stage and did his speech, "Most of you have heard of or even remember the tragedy fifteen years ago, the Fall of Beacon. Your initiative must be your own and remember that you do not face your enemies alone."

After Oz's words of wisdom as his dad would say, Scary lady got onto the stage and explained where they will be staying. But those words Oz said will stay with him, it showed how dangerous the grimm can be if used for evil. But with his abilities, he hopes to change that and end that struggle so there is a future without needed to fear all of the grimm. But then he heard about a teacher named Yang so he had to ask the guys, "So is Yang famous or something? She sounds like a nice lady to me." He wondered about who is Yang is even if she will be a teacher here. But like his dad always said, be prepared for anything.

                                      • spaceYang woke up this morning with a smile on her face. The first day of school. As a student, she dreaded it, but it carried such a different feeling with it by being a mentor and instructor. She felt like she was really passing her knowledge along to people that would use it. Plus, she remembers being in their shoes, so it was easy to relate. The blonde took the back way to the amphitheater, choosing to avoid the crowd of new students flocking in from the air-docks. She wore her casual battle-ready outfit today. You never knew, some years Oz was in a good mood and would ask Yang to give a demonstration of what she'd learned. That just meant showing off to her, and she had absolutely no problem with that. But some years, Oz was brief and morose. Hopefully this would be one of the lighter hearted years.

spaceAs Yang walked, she thought back to a mission long ago. It made her wonder if Elliot Vermilion would be in this year's first year class. He was the right age, if she remembered right. The thought made her smile wide, happy memories floating around amidst the negative ones as to why exactly she knew Elliot. Yang was sent on a search and rescue mission to find Violet Vermilion. Unfortunately, there would be no one to rescue, as Yang would only find a dead huntress. If it wasn't for Glynda Goodwitch taking in Elliot when Yang told her what happened, she wasn't sure where the boy would be today. Hopefully she would see him in the ranks this year; she would love to teach one of his classes. Elliot was like a little brother to her, and he reminded her a lot of Ruby, which just made Yang all the more fond of him. Their bond was close; Yang even gave the boy her old, unusable gauntlet to rig up and make his own.

spaceSoon, she was entering the back of the building, but she stopped short of the door. She listened. All the excited, loud, fresh voices. The excited conversations, no doubt talks of weapons and spars, it was giving her deja vu. Years ago, she was the one excitedly meeting up with her old friends, anxiously awaiting the announcement from her new headmaster. Taking a deep breath in, Yang pushed the door open and walked into the building. The door and subsequent hallway led her to the backstage area where she saw Ozpin finish his speech before moving to let Glynda speak. An excited smile flashed across the brawler's face when her name was announced. The blonde walked confidently onto the stage as Glynda moved to stand beside Ozpin. She hadn't seen them for over a year, having taken a break from mentoring last year in lieu of missions. Resisting the urge to hug them, Yang walked up to the microphone and stood there for a moment, looking out among the crowd. She was studying the students, gazing over them like they were already her responsibility, and suddenly pride washed over her again. It was then that her eyes landed on Elliot Vermilion. So he was here this year. Glynda refused to tell Yang, they both had a habit of innocent destruction. Yang winked at her faux-younger brother before she started to speak. A large grin settled on the blonde's face and she set her fists against her hips as she began.

space"Sup? In case any of you haven't heard of me," she leaned back towards Ozpin and Goodwitch briefly to say, "as if, right?" before she turned back to the microphone with a grin, "My name is Yang Xiao Long. It feels just like yesterday I was standing right where you are. Excited, anxious, wishing for it to be tomorrow already! Well, sit tight, kiddos, tomorrow will be here before you know it. So will your second year, and your third year. You get the picture? This is all going to be over before you know it, so take the time to remember all of this. Beacon will be your second home, treat it that way. Or face the wrath of Goodwitch here. Trust me, no one wants that. Just have fun! Make friends, strengthen your bonds and knowledge as much as your strengthen your muscles." Yang held up her left arm, flexing to make her point with a laugh. After this, she held up her right arm, a robotic yellow and black limb, showing it to the students.

space"You never know what could happen down the road. Be ready for anything, and take this seriously. Maybe you could save the world one day." She looked out towards Elliot, then, snapping a finger gun at him and winking at her faux-little brother, "I'm lookin' at you, kid, with the awesome gauntlets." She laughed and waved to the crowd with both hands, ending her speech, "Take it from me, get some rest tonight and make some friends! Don't stress about tomorrow. It'll be a breeze. Good luck!" With that, Yang moved to walk off-stage, smiling widely to herself. This would be a fun school year indeed.

                                  • spaceOpal smiled at Noir's excitement and nodded, affirming his quips, "Indeed, I read briefly about it when I was researching the different academies. Quite impressive." As she spoke, she gingerly took a step back, creating a little more space between them. This was becoming habitual, it would seem, creating her own personal space. She couldn't fault her peers' excitement, though, and she looked across all their faces. The only one that looked rather uncomfortable was Carmine. Opal moved to stand close to the other girl, sensing her unease, using her own presence to try and make Carmine feel a little more relaxed. She assumed it was the large crowd and the completely filled room, but Opal wasn't completely sure. All she knew was that if she could help, she would. She smiled down at Carmine before turning her attention to the stage.

spaceBefore the speeches began, though, there was a small disruption near the entrance doors. Opal turned to watch the last of the scene unfold, a pink haired girl covered in armor was yelling at her transportation. Opal's face flattened at the outburst; she should have a little more control of herself, Opal mused, silently judging the girl as she stalked over to a pillar. On one hand, Opal told herself that she shouldn't be so judgmental of people, especially her new peers. On the other hand... the redhead couldn't help it. She tore her eyes away from the other girl and looked to the stage just as Professor Ozpin and Professor Goodwitch took to the stage. A wave of excitement washed over the hare faunus. She stood almost at attention, eyes trained on the Headmaster and his Vice Principal as they delivered their speeches. It was then that Goodwitch announced Yang Xiao Long. Opal's eyes widened slightly; she was in the Battle of Beacon. She fought Adam Taurus. She was Raven's daughter.

spaceShe didn't even look away from the stage to answer Noir's question, "She's... she's rather well-known, yes." Elliot spoke up them, seeming to be stammering to himself before regaining his composure. She guessed no one knew there would be a special guest speaker. But why did it seem like he knew Yang differently than just through history? At Elliot's question and excited rhetoric, Opal nodded, "Yes, It would seem that way. I wonder who's mentor she'll turn out to be." As Yang delivered her speech, a flower of encouragement blossomed in Opal. It made her feel ready for the trials to come. All things considered, it was weird seeing Raven's daughter speaking so loudly and merrily. She and her mother were stark opposites. As Yang walked off the stage, the crowd burst into small conversations, excited voices filling the air again. Glynda Goodwitch stepped up to the microphone again.

space"Please report to the ballroom before lights out, students. We don't want anyone walking around in the dark. Please check your scrolls for the uploaded meal times and where you are to report tomorrow. Welcome to Beacon Academy." The huntress concluded the welcoming ceremony briefly before walking off the stage, seemingly annoyed at Miss Xiao Long's candid attitude with such a professional event. Opal looked to her peers and smiled, then, "It sounds like we're all staying in the ballroom as one group. How progressive. I can't wait to see what tomorrow will hold." The redhead unconsciously gripped her gauntlet-clad hand into a fist, determination rushing through her veins.

After a moment of sulking some while biting her lip, her attention was drawn to the speakers on stage. The headmasters, and even, Yang Xiao Long? She is one of... wow!
Crimson was a bit surprised and listened to Yang's speech with interest. And especially the call out to the gent who had a similar weapon style. Making mental note to be sure to meet them all at some point. But for now, looking at her scroll and making note of the meal times and listening to report to the ballroom before sundown, she nodded some to herself. Stashing the scroll and letting out a small huff then looking over the crowd of students. Impressed by some, and... lesser so of others. More importantly, pulling her scroll out again and now furiously flipping along its screen to find the transport company's contact to give a good complaint and reprimand for loosing her bags mid flight. Grumbling to herself some. Her red aura having faded now.

Yeah, it was definitely Yang alright. It was the same woman that visited Taiyang quite a bit and played video games with him. Elliot had not been absolutely sure until this point, but it was definitely her. Just the sight of her made Elliot reflexively look down at his own gauntlets, squeezing his hands into fists slightly. I don't even have a name for them yet... not like everyone else. He thought to himself, a little bit of determination burning up inside of him as he thought about how lazy he was sort of being. Yang's speech was pretty normal from what he could tell, at least up until one point. When she flexed her arm to show them what might happen, she instantly singled out Elliot in the crowd of people to make a point of. If it wasn't bad enough that you winked at me, now you gotta make me known to the entire school Sis?! He shouted in his mind, his face turning a slight shade of red at the fact. As she walked off stage, however, he debated whether or not he should try to move over to her and chat. That, however, was stricken from his mind by his mother reappearing.

While she gave a pretty generic order to the entirety of the amphitheater, he saw a glint in her eye as their eyes locked, and he could tell she was "watching" him. I can't do anything with eagle eyes there watching my every move. I feel like some rat in a maze, expected to go towards the cheese rather than the exit. He thought to himself, trying to create some poor analogy in his mind to his current situation. Opal, however, brought him back to reality when she mentioned how progressive the sleeping arrangements were. "I know! They really put a lot of trust in us, don't they? Most places probably wouldn't have such a lenient policy." The young man mentioned as he let out a slight laugh, not sure what else to say about the subject. "Man though, if Yang's gonna be a mentor... How can she possibly tell me to find some random guy and ask him to mentor my group!? That's just impossible! That's like... that's like waving a bone in front of Zwei!" Elliot mentioned, obviously not content in the letter that he had received from Glynda.

No, there was absolutely no way he could let this chance pass him by. This was like the ultimate combination of super cool people! Wait... that letter had mentioned... "Does that mean that sis is here too? Is she gonna mentor?" He murmured to himself as he thought about how realistic it was for both of them to be mentors. Maybe his mother was right in worrying that the school might collapse. After a few moments, however, he turned his attention back towards his new friends. "So, do you guys wanna head to the ballroom then? It's already pretty late, and I don't think it'll be too much longer before her strict curfew starts taking effect." Elliot mentioned to the others, speaking about Glynda Goodwitch in a very casual way. He was used to his mother's rules, and he knew what happened when people tended to break them as well. He also knew that she was the queen of limiting the amount of fun people could have. For a brief moment his eyes also flickered over towards the pink-haired girl that was messing with her scroll, wondering if her teammates would be able to handle her.

(Keep in mind, I changed up the way it looks and works slightly to save space and time. It'd be VERY complicated to have it done like the show. Plus, this gives the illusion that it's still random assignment. ^^)

Glynda was pacing back and forth, clearly frustrated by the recent turn of events. Not only had they destroyed valuable ruins, they also risked their lives beyond measure. How they got so incredibly luck, Glynda did not know. At least they were safe though. What was more pressing was their current situation in regards to the ceremony. "Professor Ozpin! M.s Xiao Long still has not shown up! What are we supposed to do about her team? Ms. Adel, Mr. Wukong, and even Ms. Rose are here!" She confronted the poor headmaster, clear irritation lining her voice. "Calm down, Glynda. I'm sure she's attending to what are, undoubtedly, more pressing matters than waving to some children." Ozpin spoke, trying to reassure Glynda that there was a reason to all of this madness. "How can you say that? You know how important it is for these children to meet their idols, to know they'll be looked after by them for the next three years! What sort of impression does that leave when they don't even bother showing up?" Glynda snapped back, clearly perturbed.

As Ozpin was about to retort, he noticed what time it was and simply sighed in response to his coworker. "Now's not the time for this, Glynda. It's time to start." As he said, this, he walked forward past some curtains and stepped out onto a large stage, looking out over the student body that lined bleachers and the first years who were in the center area. "Welcome. I see you've all managed to make it through the forest... some a bit more rashly that others." Ozpin stated, giving a slight wink at Noir as he turned his attention back to the matter at hand. "As you are undoubtedly aware by now, we will be commencing with your team placements. Additionally, each of you will be assigned a mentor as your teams are selected. Each mentor has been carefully assessed and chosen as they may relate to your team. They will help teach you, guide you, and most importantly listen to you as you spend the next three years at Beacon. They are your friend, your ally, and, most importantly, your family."

With that, Ozpin stood to the side as Glynda idled to his left, still looking rather disgruntled. "See. Even Ms. Schnee, who doesn't even need to attend, is here with her mentees." Glynda whispered to Ozpin a bit venomously. The dark-haired man simply sighed and used his scroll to activate the two large monitors behind him on stage. "Now, let us begin." He stated to the student body, smiling as he touched the scroll's screen. On the monitors, four sections began to spin like a roulette, literally hundreds of numbers moving at lighting speed as they began to work their way towards selecting a team. Then, suddenly, the first team popped up. The letters slowly turned into the faces of the people who would compose the team. "There we are. First off is team LILC. Their team leader is Lilac Enderson." Ozpin stated, smiling as a new roulette began to spin, appearing in the center of the other leaders. There was simply a bunch of symbols flying at high speed from this one. Finally, it stopped on a symbol that looked like a sword. "And their mentor is Yatsuhashi Daichi. Congratulations, and welcome to Beacon Academy." Ozpin simply stated, the monitor returning back to the previous roulette and spinning again.

It took a good while for Ozpin to finally get to a group of people that Elliot would recognize. The young man had simply been standing alongside his friends, having calmed down a good bit, and watching the letters spin. They finally landed on MNCS, and those letters slowly faded into the faces of Mauve, Noir, Crimson, and Sage. "Next we have team MNCS. And their leader will be Mauve Ackles!" Ozpin called out, looking towards Mauve and his new teammates with a smile. Then, the mentor roulette began to spin for a little bit before finally landing on two, yellow, crescent shapes. "Your mentor will be Jaune Arc! Don't cause him too much trouble." He stated, winking at team MNCS. It was hard to tell whether he was messing with them because of what happened during the initiation or because Noir was on their team, yet there was nothing malicious or scolding about his tone. It was mostly meant to have a bit of fun while everyone waited for the next team name to appear. After MNCS, it took a long time for the next familiar names to show up.

As the letters began to stop, the students could see the color practically drain from Professor Goodwitch's face. Her stoic, intimidating demeanor quickly turned into one that was completely devastated. The letters ECHO appeared, and then they turned into the faces of Elliot, Carmine, Hildr, and Opal. "It seems our next team is team ECHO. They will be lead by Elliot Vermillion." Ozpin stated, ignoring the scathing look that Glynda had begun directing towards him. It was then that the mentor roulette began, and Glynda turned towards it to have some sort of salvation from this horrific turn of events. Instead... she found herself at a loss for words. The symbol it landed on was a red rose. "And their mentor will be Ruby Rose!" Ozpin called out to the student body, trying to fake how oblivious he was to Glynda's now murderous eyes. Almost simultaneously, a voice rang out across the amphitheater. "YES! I got little bro! Yang owes me five lien!" It was clearly a woman by the sound of her voice. "Ruby!" Another woman's voice rang out in a scolding manner. "Sorry." The first woman's voice rang out a final time in an apologetic tone.

Meanwhile, Elliot simply gulped a little bit as he watched Ozpin continue the ceremony, the roulette spinning once again. What the heck is that? Dumb luck... or something else? Elliot thought to himself, not sure what he should chalk it up to. Maybe Noir was right about the chess pieces. Although, Elliot was not entirely convinced. Why bother making it so obvious and still trying to maintain the idea that everything was random? Just the idea of it messed with him. "And why am I leader?" He muttered to himself, staring at the screen as the next team was revealed. Looks like I got sis too as my mentor... but.... Is it bad that I kinda wanted Yang to be my mentor instead? He thought to himself, a slight bit of disappointment coming over him as he sighed a little bit. Either way, it was better than getting stuck with someone he hardly knew. Although, the roulette seemed to almost fall on another symbol right before it went to Ruby's. It had looked like a black wing with a gear in the middle. Who was that supposed to have been? It was all rather curious.

Noir Alcott

Noir was excited to see who his teammates would be as he walked into the building with the other seven of the group he fought with in the forest with the pup on his shoulder. The situation is tense as he saw teams being made, he couldn't help but keep smiling with the pup panting happily as they saw so many people here. However he heard whispers as to 'why does he have a miniature Beowulf with him' and 'slaying the abomination in the school'. Figured he knew they were talking about the beopup but it didn't matter to him as the team announced with his friends were called out and he cheered excitedly, "WOOHOO, awesome guys!" The pup was yipping along with him, showing the excitement they both have for their friends.

However, he noticed that some of the teachers are talking on the side, seeing so many are interesting. He hopefully can learn to be a better fighter and learn about history for learning about the past, we can make a better future. However, the pup feels like someone is staring at it as a certain doctor is looking at it for dissection.
