Meoquanee had foolishly gotten separated from her friend and protector. The day had been pleasant and the cat was taking a catnap. She'd woken up and gotten restless. Deciding a simple walk wouldn't hurt anything, she'd slipped away. Her familiar, use to her ways, had gotten up to follow her. Being as tiny as she was, it was so easy to find trouble.
Sure enough, soon as she was on her own, trouble had found her. Meo had innocently been chasing grasshoppers to eat, not realizing something bigger was stalking her. A warning shouted just in time caused the bear to miss. Meo scrambled away and took off like a shot. She headed for the dense places she could in the hopes of dissuading pursuit. The tiny bird could hear the huffing of the bear behind as she headed into a patch of brambles. Tahnee raced beside her little friend. She knew she should have woken Caesar when she saw Meo leaving. Or at least Cleo who could have watched them and gone to get him if they needed help. It was pure chance she'd noticed the bear lurking the shadows just in time to call a warning. They needed a place to hide until it went away!

Mirabilis woke up from a nap, smiling as she saw the breakfast that Volaille collected for her. She knew the stallion did not really fancy meat, but he managed to bring back a small mouse. It was better than nothing. The hippogryph stood up and stretched herself, claws digging into the ground, wings expanding. Today she would find Ku and Loddigesia and maybe even have some brother and sister bonding time. She missed that. Her brother seemed to be more distant now that her daughters were away.
Maybe he was trying to start a family of his own, or maybe not. She did not know. It wasn't like she was going to ask anyways.
As Mirabilis walked around the vegetation and near the entrance of their thicket, the mare heard sound. Running? Mirabilis stopped where she was and hid behind a grove of trees. Whoever it was, they were loud, and they were close.
She just hoped that Volaille or Loddigesia would return home soon.

Meoquanee ducked behind a tree and then tried to double back hoping to loose the bear. She would have called for Caesar if she thought he would have heard her. No she was on her own for this. She panted as she ran and her tiny talons dug into the dirt. The bear seemed to be confused for a moment. Meo dived into a small opening she spotted in a wall of brambles. With any luck it would deter the bear enough to make it give up. She crouched down as small as she could, which was thankfully pretty small as the thorns were quite sharp, and crawled her way in further.
With a surprise it suddenly opened up and she found herself facing a winged green soq. Meo blinked in surprise and stood perfectly still. It was hard to say what this unknown might do. Was this worst or better than the bear? Tahnee didn't hesitate to follow right on the feathered tail of her friend. She was nimble and squirmed her way past the thorns, loosing only a few tufts of fur in the process. It did come as a surprise when the rump stopped moving. The lion banged her nose into Meo's rump and snorted. "What is it?" She tried to peer around the feathers.

Mirabilis stopped breathing when she saw the intruders into her home. They seemed to have come far, with their running, but were they after her? How did they find her? The mare learned a thing or two about interacting with others and knew that this was something she'd have to do with the trespassers.
"Who. . . who are you two?" she asked, keeping her distance. The last thing she wanted was to fight these two, but she had to be ready if that was the resort. "And what kind of creature are you?" This was more directed to the brown feline. She'd never met any other creatures besides birds and soquili.
The other one, she recognized to be of a sub-breed. Like Olor.magnadearel sorry, it's really short!

Meoquanee blinked as the mare spoke. At first she wasn't sure what to answer, but it was a straight forward question. "I'm Meoquanee and this is Tahnee. Sorry to intrude, a bear was chasing us." She was breathing deep trying to catch her breath in the short space of time she had. If she had to run away she wanted to be ready. The tiny mare glanced back the way she'd come. It didn't seem the bear was following her yet. If it did, perhaps she could distract it with a bigger meal while she got away. The thought made Meo feel a touch guilty, but being this tiny she needed every advantage. Tahnee moved around so she could see the larger mare. The feathered mare reminded her somewhat of Meo, only bigger. And green. She hoped birds of a feather flocked together. It would make it a bit easier on them. She eyed the mare as she spoke. "I am a lioness. Who are you?"
