What part of the world do you reside in and does it have a good metal scene? Or any notable festivals or venues? What are some of the bands from your region?

I'll start, I suppose. I'm from Austin, TX, the much touted "live musice capitol of the world" which I've always thought was a bit of an over statement. Some of the more notable venues we have here are The Lost Well, voted best metal bar by The Austin Chronicle, and they have a host of great local and touring bands playing anything from grind, thrash, d-beat, punk rock, death metal. Some of our local bands are The Blood Royale, Widower, a** (ripping a** punk rock i tell yas, i said goddamn!!), Hexist (kind of Venom-esque.)

If you're from death metal a** Florida and are over the age of forty please don't brag at me, I get it, Obituary is the tits, I KNOW.

Discuss, ya'll.

I'm from MS and surprisingly, we actually do have a decent metal scene. Dark Horizon is probably everyone's favorite, but my personal fave is a band called Savage Fate. They technically aren't together anymore, but they still do reunion shows because they were that popular.

My dear friends The Blood Royale are trying to find good venues in MS. Do you have any that you would reccomend?

The Juke Joint in Ocean Springs has an awesome outdoor stage that makes for killer shows. Zeppelin's in Biloxi is a really intimate venue and is great for shows where the band is in the face of the crowd. Thunder's Tavern in Pascagoula I hear is a good one too, though I've never been, because no one wants to go to Pascagoula on purpose...

I'm from the St. Pete area in Florida. While I honestly don't know about a whole lot of current Metal bands in the area, there's a band called Rockjoint that's pretty good. I know their singer Kirk since I went to High School with him and Johnny Lee Middleton plays bass in the band when he's not out with TSO. And there's a band called Syndicate, but I've honestly never heard of them. My cousin's husband is in a band called Shadow Society. But otherwise, we've been home to Savatage, Argus, Nasty Savage, and Crimson Glory and we've got Todd La Torre, too and we had the great Matt Laporte.
I guess we've got a decent Metal scene around Tampa.

I'm from Romney, West Virginia. Our town is far too small to have a music scene in general. Unfortunate, but I'd rather live in the hills in peace than have noise around.

I reside near the Baltimore, Maryland area. We have a music scene, though most of it isn't metal. I occasionally go to Noise in the Basement to scout out new bands but must of the time I leave disappointed.

However, remember Bobzilla from Hellyeah? He's from Baltimore. When I catch him at the right time, we'll smoke a blunt here and there.

They (Hellyeah) played in Biloxi recently. I didn't get to go, but a few friends of mine said they about tore the house down.

They do put on a good show, but I'm not a big fan of what Hellyeah has turned into. I honestly wouldn't pay for tickets to one of their shows now.

I'm from Hong Kong.
We've got a few local bands, nothing international, I think NeOb (Australia), Dragonforce and Nightwish were the only big international bands to tour recently.

Apparently we've got like one venue and mostly it's local thrash and core, neither of which I'm a fan of.

I live around Greenville, SC. Decent scene I suppose. Asheville, Athens and Charlotte are reasonable distances away. Atlanta, as well, but ******** trying to drive into there. Of note, Nile is from here. Which always struck me as equal parts cool and odd.

Well, we're trying to bring a bigger metal scene to Saint Augustine, Florida and there are a couple of cool local bands but sadly my town is way too into Whale songs and hipster half assed music gonk for it to take off. We often have to travel to Tampa or Orlando.

Despite the area's horrible reputation, Baltimore has a pretty good metal scene if you know where to look.
