EARLY CHILDHOOD Calliandra was raised mostly by her Pureblood mother, who divorced her father when she was six. She does visit her father in the Muggle World frequently, and she enjoys Muggle music, which her father, a composer indulges. She owns a nice violin, which she practices on religiously, having started lessons at five. She was home-schooled by her mother, who juggled teaching Calliandra and working as a bookshop owner. She spent most of her time studying, playing with her mother's pet dogs (Peavine and Cogsworth), and having her own private dance parties with her mother's record collection. She and her mother live in East Sussex, and she has always loved Apparition because it made it possible to spend more time with her father in London. She has always loved the city and she wonders if she could live there someday, though she would miss all the space of her home. She has had a solitary childhood but a happy one, and her degree of personal time has made her very nervous about attending a boarding school with lots of other students.
SCHOOL YEARS
■ FIRST YEAR Calliandra began Hogwarts with a deep desire to study anything she could get her hands on. She enjoyed the large library and various classes, but she hasn't really made any friends. She was pretty content to continue with her quest to prove herself the smartest girl in her class, but she has started to worry about what her mother will think about her solitude, since she knew her mother was looking forward to Calliandra making more friends.
