...They were an intimidating bunch.

A part of him had been terrified as he made his approach towards the camp, and yet rather than turn him away he had been regarded with interest. He had heard of them before, at least he had heard of their pride and those who lived in it. It would have been safe to assume that he had rarely heard of anything good, and yet on this occasion he had. It had been enough to catch his attention and knock him out of the stupor that he had been stuck in. The rut hadn't been a pleasant place to lie and it seemed that something agreed with him when he had caught wind of this warband and their 'quest'.

Granted what he knew was very vague, but what he had picked up through the grapevine was that they were after individuals that were decidedly unpleasant. They had been making inquiries, attempting to isolate the individuals, and attempting to educate others as to what to look out for.

If an individual saw one of these 'things', they should find this warband...immediately.

The black and orange lion hadn't found anything of note, but that wasn't why he was here. On the contrary the revelation that this warband existed and that there were honourable individuals within the Stormborn, had spurred him in to action and for this reason he had requested to speak with their leader.

It was something that a number of the Reavers had regarded with amusement, though they had gone to find the individual in question...

According to a very amused Reaver, someone was requesting an audience with him. He had raised a brow and tossed down the piece of material he had been inspecting; what did he look like, some sort of royalty? Nevertheless, the Captain had gotten to his feet and with an albeit pained limp, he had made his way towards the borders of his forward camp to inspect the one who had requested they meet. Suffice it to say that he was meeting quite a few black and orange lions as of late, the markings were just as ornate as well...

"All right," Tethys broke the silence as he stepped out of the camp, shaking his head dismissively at the rather intrigued Reavers peering over his shoulder. This black lion had certainly gained their interest, it had been the first 'new' thing in days. Even he could appreciate that it was getting a little tedious to sit around and do nothing with absolute no hint of a trail as to where these phantoms were - at this rate he was going to have to say they were lost and return home.

Or rather he would send them home, he would stay out here until he found them again.

"You have my attention," he murmured and regarded the other male with curiosity. He was a strange one, covered in dust and somewhat smaller than the average lion. Wherever he came from they may have suffered from a lack of sustenance, or he might very well have been the runt of the litter, Tethys couldn't tell at a glance though... he seemed healthy enough.

And there he was...

Lawsonia observed the lion's approach and furrowed her brow as he noticed the limp. Based on the injuries that the lion seemed to have acquired, he had been subjected to a battering. Fortunately the white lion didn't appear to be at death's door, he simply wasn't someone that Lawsonia could confidently give a clean bill of health to at this moment in time. Fortunately it wasn't something that he was required to do as he met the larger lion's gaze. Suffice it to say that he was feeling particularly small among these lions, they were all rather larger in stature while he...well, he was just short, there was really no way around it.

Clearing his throat he stepped up to the plate and gave a polite nod of his head, better to start off on the right foot rather than offending the very individual he was hoping to gain as an ally, right?

"My name is Lawsonia," he began, electing to introduce himself first. "I heard about your um..." It was a pause of hesitation as he attempted to work out what he should call this particular endeavour. "Conquest?" he hazarded and shook his head. "I don't think it matters what I call it," he murmured, more so to himself than anything.

Another clearing of his throat followed.

"Regardless I heard that you were out to stop a number of individuals who have the potential to cause serious harm and I would like the opportunity to help," he said this last sentence so rapidly that a fair few Reavers squinted as they attempted to discern what he had said.

"Please let me assist you," he implored.

"Look," Tethys replied and shook his head. "Lawsonia, was it?" he released a sigh as he approached the lion. He'd had enough of budding heroes attempting to offer their assistance, he already knew where it would lead, and just like some of them, it would get them killed. Lawsonia was going to be no exception if this was the entire purpose for his visit - it was one thing for Vikings to request to join, quite another for a stranger to participate when no one could vouch for his abilities.

"There are other places for you to play hero," he stated and took a seat again. He'd been ordered to rest his leg and he was begrudgingly going to do so. Until they were prepared to move again he was on 'bed rest' until such a time that he wasn't hobbling around like an old male who had lost their walking assistant. For a thrall, Onesimos hadn't given the slightly concern for what Tethys's opinion was on the matter.

...This seemed to be a running theme when it come to his servants.

"This isn't one of them," he continued. "I don't have time to train you, to ensure that you don't get yourself killed, if anything you would be a liability and I can't afford to have my men spend their time watching you to ensure you don't keel over," he motioned with his paw, almost to shoo the lion away.

"There are other things you can do, getting involved in a war isn't one of them."

"I don't want to play the hero!" Lawsonia snapped with far more force than he had intended. He immediately adopted a sheepish expression and cleared his throat. This had perhaps been the only time in which he had truly wanted something... His entire life up until this point had been mundane in some parts, and in others it had been a place of complete and utter loathing. Oh it wasn't that he considered himself bad, but the home that he had been raised in was another matter entirely...

Perhaps if the Captain could see that?

"My home is..." he hesitated and frowned. "My home is a place completely plagued by disease, one that is willingly spread by lions as they attempt to find happiness in parental bliss," he began. "The vast majority of those that are born succumb to the plague and die, the others? They're destined to be trapped, completely and utterly, in the depths of a pride where they are forbidden to leave because they might 'infect' the world," he looked away and closed his eyes.

"What makes those newborn cubs any different than outsiders is something I just don't know, why are they placed in the firing line when outsiders are spared, how is that even right?"

He waited, but Tethys didn't interrupt.

"You think this is bad though?" he laughed bitterly. "If our numbers are too low we steal new borns," he stated flatly. "And there's not a damned thing I can do about it because I'm outnumbered and it's okay to kill innocent cubs, to tear them away from their parents and hope that they don't die too quickly from a disease they should have never been exposed to."

...There was silence as he ceased in his explanation, if only for a time.

"I can't live in a world like that anymore, I can't live in a place where that is acceptable, where it's all okay to kill off innocent children just because you want to feel a 'close connection' -" he breathed.

"If I had my way the pride would die out, the infected would remain dead and no one would have to suffer again but I just don't have that option," he chewed on his lower lip.

"This isn't about heroics, it's about doing what's right... So please let me help."

Tethys would have had several choice words for whatever pride this lion had come from, but given that Lawsonia had been smart enough not to advise them of the identity of these individuals, he would never have that option. Then again, it sounded as though such a plague would have greater ramifications for anyone who attempted to deal with it directly anyway. Instead, he filed the information away for later use - should any of these lions be foolish enough to attempt to take any cubs from the Stormborn away...he would dispose of them then.

However, as the black lion continued, Tethys merely watched him in silence. It was only when he had finished that the Captain finally spoke.

"First and foremost; do you have this disease?" he queried. He was met with an emphatic shake of the black lion's head, whatever god had graced Lawsonia had ensured that he had avoided the illness. Tethys wouldn't question how, or why, he merely accepted it. It placed any immediate concerns of an epidemic out of his mind and he was able to move on to the more important issues.

"I can't promise your survival," he murmured and pursed his lips. "But I also can't turn away someone who clearly has something to prove," he added. He was gaining a reputation for accepting allies that may not necessarily have conformed to Stormborn standards...or rather they didn't conform to those standards yet.

"You will be worked hard," he began and clucked his tongue. "If you have any specific skills it is in your best interests to make them known..."

A pause followed.

"We won't go out of our way to protect you if you get in to difficulties, you will have to carry your own weight."

The black lion nodded in acquiescence.

Tethys motioned to one of the closer Reavers and then motioned to Lawsonia with a grim expression. As much as the captain would have loved to give everyone a personal introduction to this grand expedition, he simply didn't have the time. It was this silent motion that gave the black lion the indication that his offer had been accepted, further supported by the approaching Reaver who was already gruffly calling him to follow.

...Where the small lion managed to achieve from this point on remained to be seen.
