Upon first glance, Adrian can appear to be aloof, but this belies his true nature. He is a caring soul, although he strives to hide this from people he's not close to. While he may sometimes appear reserved around people, Adrian is a lot more open with his Pokemon. He not very open with his affections in public (with people or Pokemon), but get him alone and he showers those he cares about with love.
Raised in a upper middle class family, he was provided with an excellent education. Even though he was raised among the upper class and has a love for finer things, Adrian enjoys the simpler things just as much (He'll down a beer with the same gusto as he would a glass of Sherry). As the son of one of the most renowned butler families, Adrian is a fully trained butler. Due to the fact certain rules were drilled into him during training, he prefers to be punctual and, in certain situations, a perfectionist. Also thanks to his family's profession and the fact that his mother refuses tolerate a lack thereof, Adrian had proper etiquette and manners crammed into his head. However, this does not mean that he follows them all the time. More often than not, he enjoys pushing people to their limits and he can be brutally honest at times.
Adrian is a gentleman by choice, but this does not mean that he conforms to that lifestyle. He follows his own set of moral codes and isn't afraid to deal out punishment if he sees fit. When angry, he can be vindictive, although he tries to maintain a level head. He also possesses a good sense of humor. Unless he deems it too terrible to forgive, nothing will defuse his anger quicker than a good laugh. However, his humor can make him a bit of trickster at times. To the people he cares about and/or respects, he is fiercely loyal, protective, and attentive.
History:
The Drake family has a long standing reputation of being some of the finest butlers and housekeepers in all the regions. Before Adrian was born, his grandparents and parents worked for one of the wealthiest families in Kalos. For efficiency's sake, the family lived in one of the big guest houses on their employer's property and it was here that Adrian was born. As the second son to his parents, Adrian had a pretty relaxed childhood until he reached the age of six. From that point on, his family began to teach him the art of buttling. He would wake up before dawn in order to start his chores and would work all day with his older brother, Brenton, beside their father and grandfather. For those first few years, he was home schooled by his mother but then when he was eight, Adrian attended one of the finest schools in the region. There he was taught gentlemanly skills, such as ballroom dancing, fencing, and music, as well as receiving a excellent education.
At the age of sixteen, Adrian had decent mastery of his buttling skills and was promoted to the personal valet of the masters' twelve year old son, Charles. While his days, and sometimes evenings, were spent all but shackled to the brat's side, Adrian looked forward to the nights he could return to his home, see his family, and play with his younger siblings, fraternal twins Marcus and Anna. During the span of a year, Adrian was at the beck and call of Charles, a boy he quickly grew to dislike. As he grew older, Adrian's dislike spread to his so called “masters” who were more content to waste their family fortune rather than actually add to it.
This loathing hit a fevered pitch when Adrian was seventeen. One day Adrian had walked into the main house's parlor to find thirteen year old Charles making lewd comments toward an eleven year old and very frightened Anna. Without another thought, Adrian had grabbed Charles by his collar, hoisted the boy into the air, and punch him in the face. With one solid hit, Charles was unconscious and Adrian let him fall to the ground before stepping over his form in order to comfort Anna. It was at this time that Anna confessed that the sexual harassment from Charles was a regular occurrence and she had to stop Adrian from beating Charles more.
Enraged at what Charles had done, Adrian told his parents what had occurred and together they approached their employers. Adrian demanded that Charles be punished for his behavior toward Anna but Charles's father refused to do so, simply stating “boys will be boys.” Determined to get justice for his sister, Adrian continued to press for a more suitable punishment and even threatened to notify the police. Charles's father then threatened that if Adrian did not ignore the incident, he would kick the Drake family out with no references and would slander their name across all the regions so it would be nigh impossible for them to find work. For his families' future and the pride of the Drake name, Adrian decided to let the affair get swept under the rug.
Fueled by rage at the injustice, Adrian refused to work for the “masters” and left his parents' home. Although they were heartbroken to see him go, Adrian's parents and the twins fully supported his choice. The only one angry at Adrian's departure is his older brother, Brenton, who views Adrian's leaving as an abandonment and a refusal to carry on the family legacy. While their views may vary, the entire family is all, silently or otherwise, wishing for Adrian's return.
While on his own, Adrian earned money performing odd jobs that fit his skills, mainly being a bartender or a DJ at local clubs. He also got himself the tattoo on his neck. He usually calls his family a few times a week and allows them to contact him whenever they wish. It's been roughly a year since he's left...
