It wasn't often Jason got to do patrols without his coat, instead wearing a thick winter jacket, his normal heavy boots replaced by sneakers. It felt nice though, and while the location was quite cold it was apparently safer then the island. Safe was something he rarely heard, so it was a nice feeling to be doing something that had a good chance of having nothing bad happening to him or anyone else.

When he was approached by the ever jubilant Joy, the moon was only to happy to go with her on a patrol. They ventured out into the forests, the large trees proving cover from the elements above, also keeping things a shade darker than normal.

"H-have you healed up since our last mission?" He asked the follow moon, referencing their previous mission in the humid jungle.

Sammy was riding on Toxin again, the twisted mount of darkness and vines. Her own phone was in hand, ear-pods tucked under her red hair as she rolled through the woods. She was strumming along to a song only she could hear, on a guitar that wasn't there. Bone fingers plucking the strings as her other hand tweeked the notes.

She was entirely unaware of the world around her as she continued onward into the woods enjoying her personal time.

Joy waved away the offer of the jacket, "S'alright, p're. I should really get used to the cold." Her smile widened as Jason admitted to trying the balut she got him. "That's great! I love them, especially the soup!" she was of course referring to the amniotic fluid but Joy never really bothered to find out what it was. It tasted great and she didn't get poisoned by it, that was good enough for her.

The rustling in the distance had Joy tensing as well and she resisted the urge to summon her weapon, recalling the warning from the briefing. Unlike Jason, Joy had zero knowledge of what that was coming towards them and whispered to her patrol buddy, "What that?" She seemed a little too fascinated to notice that someone was riding it though.

"Y-yeah....t-the soup" Jason knew what the soup was. He didn't like the soup. It had been cooked out in the pan though but he supposed it added some flavor to the rest of the dish.

Although they had been briefed not to engage with anyone from halloween, he felt that the giant mass of nope that was coming towards them was something that warranted a exception to those rules. "I-it's v-very dangerous!" He called out, but didn't rush in the thwack it just yet.

The beast drew closer, and Jason blinked in confusion. "W-wait...is that Sammy?" His weapon disappeared from his hands, stepping back to let the horse monstrosity walk past. Now he could see her better he noticed her eyes were closed, humming along to a song he had heard many times before.



"S-sammy!" He called out, not sure why he wanted to run towards the zombie ghoul and the giant horse but then they needed to not let it get close to camp save they cause a riot.

The ghoul swayed in the saddle her voice still rolling along with the song when two voices snapped her out of the trance. She hadn’t even noticed that Toxin had stopped a few feet away from the hunters kicking his forehooves into the dirt and nosing around in a bush.

“Whut?”

Her eyes flickered open, eyelids peeling back at first to empty sockets before flaring to life with fire as she glanced at both the two hunters. “Joy? Jason?” She reached up popping the skull shaped earbuds out of her ear before fumbling for a phone in her pocket. She was sporting her normal jacket, the heavy black coat with red trim.

“s**t, did I get back on island? You’re both here and not in a golem so something is seriously ******** wrong if we’re all here right now or you hunters are up to something reaaaaallly stupid to be out here.”

"What Jason said. We're here to make sure nobody gets hurt." Joy added, "Nnnnot sure how to help you get back though. We were just sorta told to turn human hikers away..."

Unlike Jason, when whatever it was Sammy was riding made it look like it wasn't going to be attacking, Joy was more willing to approach. "Is this some kind of Halloween-pony? What do you call him?" she asked, taking a couple of cautious steps towards the mount but not too close. Look at Joy learning from Missions!

It seemed Sammy had noticed his intense dislike, but instead of being offended she just winked her way. Jason responsed with a nervous laugh, scratching the back of his head a little awkwardly and wondered if he was being rude. But then didn't halloween creatures like it if you were freaked out? The whole thing just confused him.

"I-i'm not sure why this particular place is a weak spot, B-but it shouldn't be too hard to go back." He didn't recall anything about guiding them back themselves though, but he figured if she walked back the way she came she would get back to halloween. "The real issue is civilians though, they...come here for the thrills, so to speak." He sighed. Why anyone would want to come here and deliberately almost wet themselves in fright was beyond him.

Sammy's information on apex pets was quite interesting, a little peice of information he didn't know before. Not something he would actively use against them, but it was good to know for the future. "T-that sounds pretty cool." At the zombies confirmation he nodded, looking a little sick. "Y-yes...I was there..." Fighting the huge creation horse, it was not fun. He did look a little better when she said her mount was harmless. "O-oh, okay. Thats good..."

Sammy was very aware of how Jason reacted around her, most people didn’t bat an eye at her empty sockets and burning flames, but Jason was put off simply by her presence. She still gave him credit though for not jumping to arms or conclusions and so she didn’t take mind of it. If anything she was starting to have some fun with it.

“Fair enough, if I can wander in I can wander back. Must be like the haunted house, maybe a new one rather. The house has been there since before you guys where around, it’s just become more warped since we first went I think.” Or maybe it was always that weird? It was hard to tell, but the Insanity inside it was something newer of that she was almost certain. His confirmation at having seen Creation and the beasts it made was enough for her. She simply nodded her head sharply as she swung herself off Toxin. A quick slap to the beasts hide was all it took to send the beast running back the way they had come. “It’ll find its way, but best not to have a fragment of Creation around a hunter camp.”

Sammy scanned the woods around them, her hands tucked in oversized pockets of the thick black jacket, “You know your Legacies Joy?” She shook her head, “Nah you look too young, and your asking questions anyone who really knew what it was would ignore.” She moved to a large rock taking a seat, more so crouching atop it.

“Creation is one of the Legacies, the 7 kingdoms, or kings, the crowns. Take your pick,” even as she spoke she undid the chain for her artifact holding the golden pendent up to display the blue rune of protection in the middle. “This is a piece of Protection, the Blue Kingdom, or rather, Excalibur, a weapon as old as the Hunters are. Older even.” She nodded towards Jason, “About a year ago Creation, the Green Kingdom as it where, wrecked hell in Canada. Hunters where there, and so was Halloween under the guidance of a human protection program. That mount of mine? Jason and I must have both fought the larger manifestation of it that was causing chaos and raising zombies that where freaks even by my standards.”

She tucked the pendant away again, “That mount is a fragment of it I guess, a prize sort of for defeating the beast and surviving maybe? It doesn’t show any of the aggression that the original one had though it does have some strange properties like flying without wings and being a shifting mob of vines and darkness.”
