Gale would receive a single text from his division lead, which read as following: kuropeco Please change my e-mail password.

As with Mark, Gale stared at the text for approximately six minutes and thirty two seconds before responding.

There was no response back as to where, why, when, and most importantly what. And would not be for a very long time following - maybe the Death lead had made a mistake sending the text? Maybe Mark had quit, there were a lot of maybes involved, all which required potential investigation, but probably also a great excuse for Gale to hand in his filed mission reports back into the main office.

Gale hemmed and hawed about whether he should just go to Caelius - it seemed a bad idea in every sense of the word. Maybe he could just stay secluded away in his office, maybe Caelius would forget he'd sent the text, maybe he hadn't meant to send it at all. Maybe he was overreacting, and this was all a lot of nothing to worry about.
Maybe Caelius expected him in his office five minutes ago.
Needless to say, Gale was at the Death Lead's office less than five minutes later, a stack of reports in his arms as he knocked grudgingly on the door.
"Sir?"

And there stood his lead, looking surprisingly perplexed and frustrated. The last time he had probably looked this perplexed, as far as Gale's memory served, was probably during the whole adopted son thing that nobody really liked to talk about ever.
In front of Caelius stood an artifact that perhaps he really should just leave to better hands: a very simple laptop. Someone had installed the Mac OSX onto it, probably because it was nearly impossible to mess up. Nearly.
It looked like the Death lead was going to say something like 'Finally' or 'What took you so long', but he settled for a long stare and then an impassible. "Are you going to just ******** stand there or actually change my e-mail password." It was amazing how he could just demand questions.
This however, brought up a bunch of actual questions, ninety-percent of them which probably resulted in a game over. Like who in their right mind decided Caelius needed a laptop. Or where the heck was Mark. Or who installed Mac OSX on a clearly PC-modified laptop. Or the greater question, why would he need his password changed unless he-
- And if Gale turned around to stare at the laptop, he would notice that it was open on a program that made Microsoft Outlook look fancy. A prompt on the window simply said: Error: time out, too many attempts on this password have been made. Please try again later.

The fact that Caelius was wearing an almost human expression was, perhaps, more disconcerting than the fact that he had asked Gale to change the password to his email. He gave the Death Division lead a suspicious sort of look, Gale slowly setting down his armful of files on the nearest surface.
He did not dignify the question-that-was-not-a-question with a response, and instead shuffled around to look warily at the screen of the laptop, eyes narrowing.
There was a long moment of silence in which Gale debated smashing his face into said laptop.
"Uh, sir," he said, once a sufficient amount of awkward quiet had passed. "It, er...looks like you can't change it immediately."

It looked like for a minute Gale's life was flashing before his eyes as the Death leader gave him a look that spelled out every form of flashy scythe-related murder possible. He remained seated however, which was the good news. The bad news was he leaned a little closer and said most likely with the last vestiges of his patience a very firm "When."
And waited.

The amount of times Gale had seen that exact expression on Caelius's face was probably too many to actually be healthy, but at least he managed not to flinch (this time). He did, however, start wondering if his will was up to date and whether or not he would have time to convince Bix to give the eulogy at his funeral before Caelius turned him into a skewer.
Gale opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again and sighed.
"Probably anywhere between twelve and twenty-four hours."
A pause.
"Sir."

Only because it would actually be a time paradox if Gale died at this exact moment, Caelius didn't kill Gale. There was probably some alternate timeline where Gale was dead, but fortunately for Gale in this timeline, the likelihood of Caelius killing Gale was very, very high.
The Death lead moved the laptop to one side again, still open, and then went back to reading 'HOW TO USE A MOUSE, A BEGINNER'S GUIDE.' A pause about thirty seconds later. "You may take a seat."
Wait he didn't actually expect Gale to wait there for twelve to twenty-four hours did he?

Gale, although he wouldn't know it, was very appreciative of the fact that in this timeline, he wasn't yet dead - the operative word being yet.
He opened his mouth, shut it, opened it again, shut it again, then promptly sat and was silent.
For thirty-six seconds.
"Er. Sir?"

Gale was ignored. For another thirty-six seconds.
"You are here to change back the password," the Death lead elaborated very slowly as if this was some sort of extremely important S class mission he was explaining to a five year old, "so change back the password."

Gale looked at the cover of the book, then at Caelius, then to the laptop, then to the ceiling, as though he could possibly find the answer written there, then back to Caelius once more.
"Er. Yes, I realize that sir, but it's gonna be a bit. Do you still need me here..?"

Caelius didn't bother looking up, incidentally on the chapter 'Mouse Trackpads and You', proving once again one really shouldn't grab books from any collection. "Is there somewhere else you need to be at this exact moment that is so <******** important."
"Sort of," interrupted a Hunter at the doorway. They were of fairly average build, their only outstanding trait an O tattoo across their neck. He raised an eyebrow at Gale just standing there, looked at his lead reading the book, and then tried very hard not to smile, biting the inside of both his cheeks. "We've found that anomaly. We can call for backup with the Sun div-"
-"No," the Death lead interrupted rather suddenly, book forgotten. It seemed someone hadn't forgotten about a certain holiday Santa incident. "I will personally see to it. You two, lighthouse in five minutes."
If Caelius had personally meant to see it why did he need Gale and- oh right, decoys.

Gale had opened his mouth to respond - or maybe to say something stupid, it was debatable - but was saved the trouble - and his life - by the arrival of the hunter at the door. The giant O tattoo across their neck caught his attention, Gale's gaze drawn to it almost immediately.
There was another moment in which he probably should have said no, but Gale resignedly got up from his chair and made his way over to the doorway with a nod.
"Right, sir. Lighthouse."

By the time Gale arrived there, it was just the O tattooed Hunter, who was currently retying rather heavy duty combat boots. He stood up, and stretched. "Oh hey, Gale right? I'm Sam." A hand was held out. "I think we're decoy buddies today and we're supposed to split up and run around like crazy, but, it might just be easier if we stick together and wait for things to happen."
