Dris ll 1

Belpol was in full swing by mid-morning's light. Dris'rynne expected no less from the city that had housed her little family for years now. It was located on a large trade route, which brought plenty of busy to her mercenary band, as well as more bandits than she could put down in a days time.

Pay was good, which meant life was good, and maybe that was why her sister was sending their cousin southward. Talisia mentioned it in one of her letters, and honestly, Dris'rynne didn't have a problem with it. A relative of her birth father - coming south for a vacation, a trip, some sort of apprenticeship; honestly, she wasn't sure if the boy even wanted to come.

He certainly wouldn't find it 'leisurely' in Oba, not under Dris'rynne's roof, if that's what he was after.

"Keep up, Adenah," For a moment she stopped to look back, holding out a hand for her daughter to take. Ani was spending the day with Tes; technically, she had wanted both girls to stay with him, so as not to bombard the boy, but Adenah had insisted.

Stubborn little thing.

Adenah ll 1

The perky little four year old reached up to take her mothers hand with a big smile. "Okay, mommy." Today they were going to pick up her cousin; she had a cousin! Adenah hadn't met any of her family members yet, but she'd heard lots of stories from her momma. Just, not about any cousins. Mostly 'bout Aunts and Uncles, and grandparents. So, while she wasn't exactly sure what a cousin was she knew they would be family and family was always good. Right?

She'd been asking her mother questions all morning about him. How old was he? Was he going to play with them? How long would he be staying? Was he a hybrid too? Was he going to be flying or-?

And Dris'rynne had done her part as a mother by distracting the girl with something shiny.

"Where is he, mommy?" Her mom had said it would be easy to spot him, but she didn't see anyone who didn't look like everyone else!

Zyphire could not believe how hot it was in Oba. Waving a hand towards his face, the boy frowned up towards the sun that was blazing across the sands. "Why in the world she would want to roast herself out here I'll never know." At first he had been kinda intrigued to hear that he had yet another cousin, a half-sibling to the woman who had taken him in. Now though that he had learned she lived in Oba rather than Jahaur the boy wished he had a second attempt at his decisions.

Not that he had much choice. Since going to the market in Sauti he had promised Talisia that he would go check on her family member since the sanctuary had her hands tied. The thought made him groan. This was what he got for wanting a break away from all the beasts. "Thanks Tally."

As the giant kinfa fluttered its wings next to him, Zyphire rolled his eyes. "Yes, yes. You're free to leave this place while I have to go find some stranger." He waved off the kinfa who flew back up into the skies before glancing around.

Now where in the sands did he find another shifter?

In the midst of the crowd Adenah didn't see the kinfa taking flight, but her mother did. While her daughter was looking further down towards the ground, Dris'rynne had taken to look above the Oban heads trying to spot one that didn't belong.

The large, winged bird was a good sign. If he came from Talisia, then chances were high that she sent him with a beastly escort.

"Deni, go straight. I think he's up there."
Of course she had already spotted the bit of white hair. It would take a while for them to get there, but if she sent the little hybrid off at a dead run....

....well, it might just be amusing.

Adenah ll 2

"Okay, mommy!"

Adenah didn't need told twice; she just ran. If her mommy had seen him, then she knew it was safe to take off as fast she could across the sand. It was a lot funner than waiting around, anyway! And she didn't have to be proper.

She could just toss up her heels and go!

So she did and she didn't come close to stopping until she not only spotted the white haired shifter but nearly came right onto running into him. Her little feet caught in the sand, kicking up a sandstorm when she stopped with the biggest grin on her face. "FOUND YOU!"

Well perhaps he didn't have to find another shifter as a little shifter found him instead. Or rather a half shifter. Raising a brow at the spectacle of the little one, Zyphire squatted on the sands. "Found me?" He quipped lightly, "If you found me then that must mean you know me? May I ask who you are?"

He held out a hand above her head as if to size her, "I know Talisia said she had a relative here, but I expected someone older and not...well as unique looking as you." Zyphire smirked, "I'm guessing your name isn't Dris'rynne, right?"

"But I do know you! You're Zyphire, aren't you? The cousin we're coming to take home!" She jumped up on the balls of her feet, tucking her little hands behind her as demure and sweet as if she'd been plucked up from a jar of jams.

Adenah snorted out a little laugh and swatted away his hand. "No no, that's my momma! I'm Adenah." She made sure to pronounce her name slow and proper, just like her tutor told her to do.

Dris ll 3

It took Dris'rynne a little longer to make it on the scene, but when she did she had a softer, more bemused smile on her face. Her little one's enthusiasm was endearing; if only when she was running towards people her parents could actually trust and not up to total strangers.

At least this boy seemed the trust worthy sort.

"Breath, Adenah, or you'll frighten him off." She gave a breathless little laugh and looked at him, extending one scarred, sword calloused hand his way, "I'm Dris'rynne. I'm glad to see you made it to Oba in one piece, cousin. Talisia will be pleased."

Zyphire's gaze widened ( a bit playfully admittedly) at the girl's declaration, "I guess you do know me then!" He grinned, "Though I didn't know that I had two people coming for me." The shifter pushed off from the ground so that he could fully stand and see the other shifter, his cousin, approaching.

"She's fine, though unexpected." Zyphire slowly took a moment to reach out and shake the woman's hand, " You think? Maybe she was hoping I would fall off along the way." He replied before glancing between the mother and daughter, "Though I was not expecting a little one - I'm sure she forgot to mention that along with the last minute notice that you were in Oba rather than Jahaur. But now I think I see the reason for that." His gaze was pointed as he glanced over at Adenah's red hair and other Oban traits. Where was the father that tied his cousin down to this area? Family really must have a thing for foreigners... First his cousins with the Zenans and now his one full cousin with the Obans? What was he supposed to go do? Find a Matori or something?

"Then you'll adore what's waiting for you back home."
Dris'rynne cocked a grin, waiting to see just how much Zyphire knew about her little 'family' here in Oba. Did he know she had multiple children? Or a live in...nanny? Whatever she could classify Tes as...

After giving his hand a hearty shake, Dris'rynne turned on her heel and cocked her head, motioning that he should follow. She made her way back towards the inner city, with the little one following close behind.

"Oh, so you-" She furrowed her brows, wondering what Tally was up to. She had assumed he would be told some things; but she guessed a trial by fire (pun intended) may be necessary. "Maybe I should tel-"

Adenah ll 4

"Let me tell him, mommy, I can!"
Without even waiting for her mother to voice her displeasure at the idea, Adenah turned to look up at her cousin. She took a big breath, puffing her cheeks out wide before spewing a bunch of words all at once.

"Mommy's got a bunch of guys who do stuff for her with swords and at night, but then she comes home to daddy and Ani; Annatha is my sister. But daddy doesn't look like us - he's blue- and mommy and daddy aren't together together like some parents, but that's okay."

She didn't look up up her mother, who seemed torn on if she should put a hand over her child's mouth or ready to shrug as if "well, she's right".

"Mommy's family don't like us, so we don't get to see a lot of people, but she told us lot's 'bout Auntie Tally and now we have you!"

Zyphire gave Dris a shaky grin, "A nice big bed and some travel guides? A giant pool to laze in perhaps?" Or even better just a cup of water. He was parched from all this dry air. The boy sighed as he believed that to be his best option, "Though I'm guess it's neither so I'll settle for something to drink at least."

Glancing between the pair, Zyphire prepared himself. Perhaps it would have been a good idea to actually of listened to Talisia before just leaving in a hurry. Shoving the thought aside Zyphire listened to the child, "Oh, Ooooh." Zyphire glanced towards Dris'rynne. "Sounds like you have a busy life - I hope you aren't hoping for me to help with the night job....are you?" He scratched the back of his neck. And a blue man? What type of life was his cousin living? She had children with an Oban, but was with a Matori now? Or another ice earthling....though he doubted that.

Adenah ll 5

"Wassa pool?" Adenah quirked her brow, pondering on the strange word. She had heard it in passing before, but never really given it much thought. If Zyphire was using it, though, then she could to! She just...didn't know how.

"Oh, I can help." Adenah moved forward and dug in her momma's bag, pulling out a wineskin. When she uncorked it, however, the only thing that bubbled to the surface was cool, crisp water. "Here, have some." She held it up to Zyphire eagerly.

Dris'rynne ll 5

"Will a cot, some maps, and a public bath house do?" Of course the last was a stretch, but she figured she'd tease him. Tes had already given her enough hell over choosing to use one before the girls had been born, and he refused to let the little ones anywhere near the type of 'hooligans' that drifted into such places.

Of course, now she saw the reason to be cautious, but still, some were very nice.

She led their way through the growing crowd, parting them as easily as if her swords had actually been drawn. Her appearance these days was enough to part a crowd, as many knew her reputation by looks alone. That was good and also worrisome; it meant that sometimes her daughters could be safer than others, and then, there were the idiots who chose to go after them to get to her...

...and now she would need to look over Zyphire as well.

"No, no, of course not. Not yet, anyway." If he were well trained and a little older...well, then things might have been a little different. "The only thing that I ask of you while you stay with us is that you either find a part time or volunteer job, something to keep you productive during the day, or that you help Teslaron, our....nanny with the girls. Any money you make will be yours to keep; I just abhor laziness and won't stand to see it in my household. Beyond that, you may do as you please, so long as it doesn't harm my girls. Enjoy the sights, travel; despite it's past Oba is a lovely land and has many opportunities for outsiders."

"It's a huge puddle of water that you can actually lay in and do this thing called swimming." Replied Zyphire lightly, "Though you wouldn't know it out here - but there are things other than piles of sand in this world, including pools." As the girl handed him the wineskin the boy eagerly took a deep gulp. Ugh, how did people live out here again? But at least that was refreshing, "Thanks." He grinned towards the little one. At least she was cute - a surprise perk to finding out more about his family.

Zyphire's glance went towards Dris. Talking about cute and helpful - it seemed he would rely more on the little one for that. "Not exactly what I had in mind, but better than some piles of sand - though I'll pass on the bathhouse for now. Unless it's for both sexes....then maybe." He teased lightly.

"Of course." Zyphire let out a small sigh, "I'm always here to work. Always." Talisia did it to him, Kian did it to him, it definitely was a family trend. Though his gaze did venture towards Adenah. How hard could it be? She seemed like a sweet enough kid, "But sure. Just let me know what you need err....what the nanny needs as well." Now that would be someone to meet. Who in the world was this Teslaron? A man who...was the home keep. Must be a fun guy.
