Idle fingers toyed with the rough, wooden corner of the bus stop they'd taken temporary possession of. Rob made sure that his backside was completely covering Steele's face out of childish habit, doing his best to push aside concerns that the splintered, old bench wasn't going to rub any nonsense off onto the pants of one of his last, good suits. One leg crossed over the other and he smirked up at his companion. They'd decided to take a break from the daily toils of waiting by the phone for potential client calls, putting the voicemail machine to use as they'd made their way down the shopping outlet in search of lunch. On their return, Chinese in hand, they'd spotted the bus stop with the new, drastically handsome advertisement and made the call to pause for a moment and enjoy the view (of themselves). "We should see about getting ads on the sides of the bus line as well," He mused aloud, his free hand motioning out towards the approaching DATA bus. Who knew how much the Destiny Area Transit Authority charged to have their faces plastered against the sides of their large, smelly vehicles but it was an option he toyed with in the back of his mind. The more places they advertised, the better the chance of getting more clients, right? "After lunch, of course." To emphasize, he shook the bag, the wonton container gently sloshing about, safely secured next to the box of rice and other greasy treats he'd decided to splurge on.

Minus the fact that Rob was, in fact, sitting on the grinning, stunning visage that was Steele's face, Steele thought the whole thing had gone rather well.
"Having our faces on the side of a bus is an excellent plan," said Steele now, absently jiggling the leg he had crossed over his other. He tried not to think too hard about what Rob was eating, instead shoveling another mouthful of rice into his own mouth. "Can you see it - just someone sitting here, waiting for the bus, and - bam!"
Steele made a gesture with both of his hands - or rather, with one of his hands. The other was still holding a takeout container of rice. "There we are, the answer to all of their problems. This city is positively crawling with those in need of our services, Rob. We've gotta find someone that will take advantage of that, especially with everything going on now."
A pause.
"And maybe get a few more, you know. Cute babes." He waggled his eyebrows.

Eventually she was going to have to actually save for a car and not spend all her time scheduling her life around the bus. Lucky she didn't live too far from where she usually had gigs but when she wanted some really good food or wanted to go shopping that meant a bus trip. DC had a good system but sometimes she just wanted to be able to get in her car and go where she wanted to go. Usually this stop though was empty and for once it wasn't. She headed over, eying the new add that was plastered on the side before actually looking at the two men sitting there. "Woah ...wait. Are you two staring at your own ad?" kuropeco small memo: i refer to Kay as 'she' but she's gender-neutral and doesn't care what gender someone else uses for her

Preening like a peacock, the older of the two lawyers leaned further back, still only partially hiding the beaming smile of his coworker as his arm remained draped over the bench's edge. He turned to share his grin with the questioner, a dazzling expression already prepared. "Why, of course! What better way is there for us to meet our potential clients? We're not above using the bus system - we're here for the little people, not the powerful corporations." Setting down his food, he finally rose from his seat to greet the approaching innocent, noble young citizen of Destiny City. She didn't know she was in need of Moore and Banks, but Moore and Banks knew she'd need them - if not now, then eventually. Everyone needed a lawyer in their life, after all! After a quick brush against the side of his pants, one hand moved out in offering to the woman. "Robert Moore, at your service ma'am. Here for all of your legal needs. Insurance frauds, injuries - you name it, we'll seek justice on your behalf." Tilting his head, he gestured towards the blonde man. "Right, partner?"

Instant switch on.
"Why hello there," said Steele, a dazzling smile given to their newest acquaintance - and potential client, because one always had to think of people as potential clients if one intended to get anywhere in life. He stood following his partner, smoothing a hand down the front of his impeccable - and admittedly, slightly too expensive - suit, waiting until Rob had introduced himself before speaking again.
"Just call me Steele," he said winningly. "And yes, that is absolutely right, my dear fellow - Rob and I are here to make your day. We can do anything you'd like in terms of making sure that you get what you need."
Another bright, white smile was flashed.
"Anything you want, we can do it."

She eyed the two overly friendly lawyers as they introduced themselves, not taking the offered hand at first. She'd never met a real lawyer to her knowledge and these two seemed to be the exact sort of thing that every movie and tv show said sleezy lawyers were. Maybe they were, but ... "Kaydence and none of my clients have stiffed me or anything so I don't have any need for a lawyer. And I doubt you can do anything i want since to make that sort of stuff happen would probably be illegal somehow." She laughed, shaking her head as she stepped into the shade of the bus stop. "You two new at this whole thing? I could pass business cards around maybe. I think one of the clubs I work at needs a new lawyer."

"New to the city," Rob was quick to correct her as he watched her retreat to the shade - of course she only walked away to make it to the shade, she couldn't have possibly wanted to get away from two charming gentlemen like them, "But not new to the practice of law and ensuring justice for all." Granted, they were still young in their careers, but this kid didn't need to know the fine details of his timeline. Her request made him freeze, however, and his expression showed a brief, momentary falter before returning to the confident grin he'd mastered years before. Business cards? They didn't have business cards yet. They'd been so focused on moving in their belongings, ordering furniture and contacting the ad agency over bus stops and storefront marquees that he hadn't taken the time to place an order for company business cards. "Ah, right, business cards." The extended hand moved up to straighten up his tie, a nervous tick that hopefully looked like yet another charming fidget. "Steele, please give the lady one of your cards." He hated every word coming out of his mouth, but even if his partner was the one to recruit some new clients with his personal, gold-trimmed cards, it meant good business for their combined firm.

"A pleasure Kaydence," said Steele, somehow managing to flash every white tooth at her while he spoke. "And never you fear - we will most definitely be able to help you out with a variety of needs that even you yourself might not be aware of."
At least she hadn't run away yet. Steele was determined not to let her get away, not after they'd finally found someone to work with. Besides, she'd stepped into the shade, not out of it, which had to mean something right? Clearly she had need of their services after all and she didn't want to let this magnificent opportunity go to waste!
Steele opened his mouth, then closed it again at the brief flicker of horror on Rob's face, whom he'd known long enough by now to understand sheer panic. He gave a sage nod of understanding, then reached into his vest pocket and pulled out a tiny stack of black and gold cards, whipping one of them out and presenting it to Kaydence.
"For you, dear client," said Steele magnanimously, bowing his head in her direction. "We would be delighted if you would assist us in this endeavor."
They probably should have printed business cards.
