Age: 37
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Whatever best suits his needs at the moment
Weyr: Holdless, spends time in the North
Rider Rank: Mercenary
Previous Rank/Craft: Kitchen boy
Physical Description: 5'10", 165 lb, not big enough to be ungainly but not too small to be ineffective in a fight. He's built to bring the term "scrappy" to life, with just enough bulk to carry him through a brawl but not enough that he can always win without fighting dirty. He's incredibly quick on his feet and with his hands, and seems able to slip into tiny spaces or melt into shadows at a moment's notice. Sandy brown hair, usually ruffled, with keen, light brown eyes. He has rectangular face with a strong, square jaw that would probably catch a good bit of attention if it wasn't hidden underneath a beard, and equally prominent cheekbones that he can't really hide. All in all a handsome fellow, but he'd rather you not notice until he chooses to reveal it.
Personality:
Survivalist – K'eir is the consummate survivor – slick, cocksure, adaptable, unfazed by the ugliness of the world around him. He's not what you'd call a villain, but he certainly looks out for his own interests. He goes where the wind blows, and can be found on either side of morality, sometimes switching his allegiance in the span of a breath. In the grand scheme of things, K'eir is aware that he's just a small fry, and he's happy to play that role. He could have amounted to something in a weyr – maybe a celebrity entertainer, maybe a wingleader – but he figured he was too smart and too quick for something so mundane. A lifetime spent thinking he's better off gaming the system has shaped him into someone who's comfortable treading the line between right and wrong, so long as he winds up better off at the end of it. It's why he never gambles unless he's sure he can win, and if he's the one who's rigged the odds to fall in his favor, then all the better.
History:
K'eir was born in extravagant Bitra to a mother who was once the jewel of a booming brothel in the hold's high places. She did her best to shield him from that world, but K'eir was a quick learner and always too keen for his age. He understood the circumstances of their lives as soon as he could comprehend such workings.

When he was 10, his mother caught the eye of a minor lord holder's son who was soon to travel to High Reaches Weyr to become a Candidate. The young man brought K'eir and his mother to High Reaches, where she quickly discovered that maintaining her place and surviving meant letting go of her relationship with her son. K'eir found himself working as a kitchen boy, eventually landing himself a foster home with one of the more motherly cooks.

Five years later at 15, he was in the stands watching a hatching when one of the dragonets slipped over and found him with a knowing look on its face. The pair progressed well through weyrling training, mostly because they both understood the merits of going with the tide – in this instance, the demands of their training. Not long after graduating, they took to the skies to find their fortunes and never looked back. They've since spent their days as mercenaries, going where their luck will take them. The return of Threadfall has made Wraith increasingly antsy, but they both understand that the opportune moment will arise, so for now, they're biding their time until the need arises for them to return to a weyr.
Other:

DRAGON
Name: Wraith
Age: 22
Color: Brown
Size: 37'
Physical Description: Wraith is like the dragon version of K'eir. A little on the small side of average, he combines decent power with decent maneuverability. The lines of his body tend to meet in acute, pointed angles, lending a sharpness to his entire appearances. In spite of that, there's an unsettling sort of fluidity about the way he slinks around. He's surprisingly adaptable for a big dragon, so never place your bets on what he can or cannot do.
Personality:
Sly Fox – People who meet Wraith for the first time tend to find him a little sinister. Maybe it's the way his face settles into a crooked sort of smile, as if he knows something secret about you that you've never shared. In any case, those people's instincts are mostly right. Anyone who isn't K'eir would do well not to trust this dragon, who values nothing so much as having the upper hand. He's most comfortable when he has a trump card up his sleeve, but he's just as happy bluffing until you think he does. He has an unsettling tendency to stare, and he has a knack for remembering and hoarding details for a later date when they'll prove most helpful. There's an oily charm about him that's one part reassuring, two parts worrying, that says he can be your greatest ally – until he decides otherwise. Eminently patient, he'll play your game until it no longer benefits him and K'eir, and then he'll turn his tail and go for something better.
